ginji
Dear Obsidian, I'm very interested in this game and I'm following it from a couple of weeks now. My question is simple: will this game be optimised for SDTVs too? I'm asking this because the other big RPG came out recently, Mass Effect 2, had very little, tiny, microscopic text, and this has generated many many thread with anger and sadness on their forums (most of them have been closed or deleted, but you can still see them). This ended with Bioware saying they won't do this again for Mass Effect 3. Now, how is this game optimized to be readable on SDTVs? Does it have tiny text (hope not)? I'm not from USA or UK, i bet the game won't be dubbed in other languages, so I will ahve to read subtitles.... please make them readable. That's all. Can't wait for the game. Enoch
I do remember a post many many moons ago that said they tested this out. I think it was brought up pursuant to the now-canceled Aliens game, but the answer made me think that the company was institutionally aware of these issues in a general sense. WILL THE ALMIGHTY
There's a standard definition? "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
Slowtrain
Small text is much prferable to big text though. It looks neater and takes up less of the screen and more words fit on the screen at once. Most games these days have this insane giant text that looks like something out of an EZ-Reader book. I dislike it personally. Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that. Purkake
I'm still surprised that people would rather play on SDTVs than hook their 360 or PS3 up to their monitor which is at least 720p... Edited April 6, 2010 by Purkake
Raithe
Yup, most games I play look fine on my widescreen monitor.. I see no point to the hassle of hooking up to the tv screen with the majority of games... Ah well, but to each their own I suppose. "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum." Do you remember where did they say it? Not that I don't trust you, I just would like to read it myself :D Small text is much prferable to big text though. It looks neater and takes up less of the screen and more words fit on the screen at once. Most games these days have this insane giant text that looks like something out of an EZ-Reader book. I dislike it personally. I don't know... Dante's Inferno and Mass Effect 2 are completely useless if you play on an armchair from a distance. For Dante's Inferno isn't a real issue, tough, since the game is horrible (I'm joking, i'm joking...). What games do you refer to, when you say "giant text"? The only one I can think of is Ninja Gaiden 2, and I liked that a lot, personally. I'm still surprised that people would rather play on SDTVs than hook their 360 or PS3 up to their monitor which is at least 720p... I don't own an HDTV and PC and Xbox 360 are too distant from each other to link them up. And I have a 34'' SDTV that still works great, no need to upgrade for now (and I can't anyway). The Xbox 360 does support SDTVs, so at least I would like to be able to read what I'm playing
