He will no doubt rig elections to keep himself in power, then, I am betting he is going to stage a war with his neighbors to justify martial law to keep himself in power indefinitely til the "crisis" has passed. It is going down the road of a dictatorship, lead by Chavez and his idiot masses. Okay, so one questionable thing ("brutally attacking opposition" isn't really on my top ten things a dictator does, unless we're talking murder here), and some crazy **** that will never happen except in Kalthorne's crazy fantasies where the Russkies are about to invade and 8 year old Palestinian war orphans deserve their situation. He's not a dictator until the judiciary is his toy, which it isn't presently, despite its questionable practices and targeting. He's not a true dictator until he becomes the keystone of the state, which he most certainly is not. He could have moved to change these things, as his supporters have an absolute (as in 100%, not merely 50%+1) majority in Parliament. Until that changes, it's simply a populist, corrupt regime, but not a dictatorship. Sorry. Even if you were to subscribe to a Machiavellian philosophy, that doesn't make much sense. If the deaths are what led to Chinese emancipation or Russian Industrialization, then you might have an argument for the means justifying the end. As it stands, both Mao and Stalin did a tremendous amount of damage to their countries at the end of their lives with no clear justification. If either Stalin or Mao had become mass murderers in their attempt to free their nations or whatever in the hell it was you said in a futile effort to defend them, then you might have a semblance of an argument. I wouldn't go so far as to say that human nature is as flawed as you think Killian, specially when the vast majority of Humans are followers. With that said, only a totalitarian, egotistical despot would be capable of pursuing his own dreamworld as an Utopia. Forcing it on everyone, Japan style.
