October 6, 200916 yr Valve comes rather late to the party though. League of Legends will be out this month. Then there's StarCraft II next year, Blizz will no doubt try hard to migrate the DotA player base to SC2. I won't be surprised if SC2 comes with an official DotA-like map.

I'm sure they'll create some crazy First Person DotA with Portals or something. They're not just going to release a DotA clone, that market is surprisingly saturated at the moment.

And HoN, which I've already pre-ordered and am currently playing - it's great. But I don't think it matters. Valve will do what they always do, and I don't think being late to the party is going to stop them.

In order to pull that off, Valve also needs to completely overhaul their facial animation and gesture system. I expect something really outstanding in that regard. Rain makes everything better.
