ramza Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 (edited) So, I decided to make the big step and go buy NWN2 OC + Mask of the betrayer + Storm of Zehir (in separate boxes). I have already installed the OC and the first expansion and they seem to work fine. On the other hand, it seems that the SoZ pack is missing the cd-key number as I cannot find it anywhere on the manual! Do you have a clue as to what I should do? Can Atari (or anyone else) give me the cd-key based on the box' serial number? Or should I return it asap to the seller and claim back part of my money? Edit: Do you know if there is a way to check if the dvds are genuine or fakes/copies? I am asking this because I am having some doubts on the seriousness of the seller and I really hope he hasn't cheated me (although he clearly told me to come back to him if there are any probs). No idea, check with the store? Play MotB it's the best. EDIT: OC is just that, the OC, MotB is kinda like PST and SoZ is like Icewind Dale... Edited April 18, 2009 by Purkake
ramza Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 Well, I finally resorted to some questionable methods in order to find the cd-key number and it worked fine on my game. It seems that all the dvds I got are originals. Moreover, after looking on the web, I discovered that it was a common problem in Europe (UK version mostly) to get Soz without a cd-key on the manual (distributor's mistake probably). Deadly_Nightshade Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 You should contact Atari, when I had a key issue with the original NWN Diamond they were able to fix it within two days. "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot
Purkake Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Well, what's important is that you can play it now
ramza Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 Thanks for the advice. I will probably write to Atari to ask them for a legitime cd-key. One more issue: the camera is really horrible. I really miss the NWN1 interface. Isn't there a way to make the camera rotate around the character just like in NWN1? "Ooo, squirrels, Boo! I know I saw them! Change them with the * button on the numpad.
ramza Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 Are you sure there are 3 camera modes? I think there are only 2. Wikipedia confirms this: http://nwn2.wikia.com/wiki/Camera "Ooo, squirrels, Boo! I know I saw them! Quick, throw nuts!" -Minsc "I am a well-known racist in the Realms! Elves? Dwarves? Ha! Gorth Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Isn't it the "strategic" one that is very similar (identical) to the NWN1 one, if you set it to point at your active character and change the sensitivity/movement speed of the camera? “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
ramza Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 After a bit of tweaking, I finally managed to get a satisfactory result... I still have to get used to the new interface... I still prefer the NWN1 UI though... "Ooo, squirrels, Boo! I know I saw them! Quick, throw nuts!" -Minsc "I am a well-known racist in the Realms! Elves? Dwarves? Ha! Kill'em all! ramza Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 I wrote to Atari UK 3 days ago and I am still waiting for an answer... Bad customer support... No wonder that people use more questionable methods to play their games... "Ooo, squirrels, Boo! I know I saw them! Quick, throw nuts!" -Minsc "I am a well-known racist in the Realms! Elves? Dwarves? fastpunk Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Yeah, sorry there used to be 3 at one point(character, strategic and adventure), guess they changed it. If you install Storm of Zehir you're going to have 3 camera modes again - character, exploration and strategy. Actually, I think that even if you have NWN2+MotB installed, you'll still get 3 camera modes, provided you updated to the latest patch, 1.22.something. Isn't it the "strategic" one that is very similar (identical) to the NWN1 one, if you set it to point at your active character and change the sensitivity/movement speed of the camera? The camera focused on the active character is the Exploration camera. Strategy cam works like the one in Infinity engine games. "We do not quit playing because we grow old, we grow old because we quit playing." - Oliver Wendell Holmes
Pope Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 There are definitely 3 camera modes. I found Strategy mode, combined with Free Camera (in the Options), to be the best option.
