Walsingham Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 But Keith Vaz MP, who chairs the Home Affairs Select Committee, said the 12A certificate was too low, adding that he was concerned by The Joker's use of a knife in the film. He told The Independent newspaper: "The BBFC should realise there are scenes of gratuitous violence in The Dark Knight to which I certainly would not take my 11-year-old daughter. It should be a 15 certificate." So he says because he wouldn't take his 11 year old to see the film, 12 years is too low! What a ****. But made me laugh. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
Tale Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 She's very mature for her age! "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
qt3.14159 Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I was really surprised TDK wasn't rated R. But, if they did that, there's no way they could get away with all the toy merchandising they've been doing... There is no way in hell I'd take my 8 yr old son (who plays Halo & other FPS) to see this movie, and I'm generally pretty lax about violence in movies. It's not the violence, though... it's more the creepy sick psychopath factor that gives me the heebie jeebies. Anybody here catch that? All I understood was 'very'.
taks Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 rated R is a death sentence for superhero movies. horror movies almost require it (else they aren't scary enough, or gory enough, or whatever), and comedy movies often require it as well, though it ain't as important. [conspiracy theory]somebody got bribed, for sure[/conspiracy theory]. taks comrade taks... just because.
thepixiesrock Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 It wasn't R because it never really showed anything. It always did quick cuts away from anything that had the potential to be gory. HAW HAW HAW Get it?! Quick CUTS Cause he uses a knife! Lou Gutman, P.I.- It's like I'm not even trying anymore!http://theatomicdanger.iforumer.com/index....theatomicdangerOne billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the galaxy. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips. I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my viens. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk, and free throw. I am there.
qt3.14159 Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Showing it would have been less traumatizing, I think. Anybody here catch that? All I understood was 'very'.
Deadly_Nightshade Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Most rating systems are ****ed up - although it does not look like things are going to get better anytime soon. "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot
Walsingham Posted August 4, 2008 Author Posted August 4, 2008 The problem is that it is designed to limit a 'soft' effect, with 'hard' rules. You'd get worse on the news, I'm sure. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
