RangerSG Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Hmm, seemed closer to the Rangers in Babylon 5 than anything else. And that wouldn't be bad, since they were hardly pure do-gooders. I think there's probably room for more than being a paladin in that. *shurgs* We'll see.
Moatilliatta Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Some interesting clarification on the Gray Wardens from DG: The Grey Wardens are an organization that exists to combat the darkspawn-- nothing more. Not sure why they might be perceived as paladin-like other than the fact that the darkpsawn are a very tangible force of evil. They are not, however, a force of good guys. They do absolutely whatever they must to battle the darkspawn, no matter how "good" those actions might be perceived by others, and make no bones about it. I'm still against such story telling devices, but this might relieve certain peoples fears. Also a bit of fun: That's right, the Darkspawn are only the apparent enemy. As you delve deeper, you discover that there's a 50000 year cycle of destruction that's been occurring since time immemorial. No, no, no, no, no. Cycles of destruction? What do you think this is, steampunk? We don't have cycles. The much more immediate concern of the game is that crate you looted back in the origin story. It starts stalking you, leaving love letters conspicuously in your camp, and at one point attempts to replace one of your followers, but you discover the ruse when you ask it to cast blizzard on some darkspawn, and it just sits there because it's a crate. Driven to the brink of madness by your refusal to make it part of your group, the crate goes on a killing spree... which nobody notices, because it tries to kill people by not being lootable.
Volourn Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 (edited) let's also not forget that you might end up only joining the Gray Wardens depending on your origin. Supposedly, it takes place relatively early on in the game so you may not even be involved in that.. maybe... I hope we're not forced to be one though... It sounds like a human based group.. As a dwarf, I'd rather pass. Edited July 21, 2008 by Volourn DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Moatilliatta Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 (edited) I believe all origin stories will be part of the Gray Wardens. I also belive that it contains all races. Edit: Origin stories not groups Edited July 21, 2008 by Moatilliatta
