Humodour Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Haha. http://physorg.com/news124444599.html I always suspected Americans and Europeans had some sort of humour deficit. I guess I was correct.
Walsingham Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I see no reference to genetics. All he talks about is nations. That would be culture. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
Humodour Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 Twin pairs in America had a genetic link for positive humour, but negative humour had to be learned. Twin pairs in the UK indicated a genetic link for both positive and negative humour, with negative humour having a 50% genetic component. Don't ask about the methodology; I haven't seen it, nor is the study public.
Shryke Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 yeah no references to genetics at all... i guess i've always preferred english humour more than american english seems to be more cynical or ironic american seems more sex/poop jokes just my opinion, and i know there are definitely exceptions when your mind works against you - fight back with substance abuse!
Xard Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Off-topic I really ****ing hate the modern "hur hur genetics r teh answer" trend going on. How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them. - OverPowered Godzilla (OPG)

thepixiesrock Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 When you make the people out to look like that, it is super annoying. Lou Gutman, P.I.- It's like I'm not even trying anymore!http://theatomicdanger.iforumer.com/index....theatomicdangerOne billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the galaxy. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips. I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my viens. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk, and free throw. I am there.
Walsingham Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 How does that t-shirt go? "Stereotypes are a real time-saver" "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
Nick_i_am Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 The only australian comedy that ever made me giggle were those two mime morons whos names I forget, they were pretty skilled. That's not because it's bad, just that we never really see any, I only know of those guys from an aussie friend. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
walkerguy Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Wow what a terrible article. I've never heard an Aussie joke, though, I beleive. Twitter | @Insevin

Deadly_Nightshade Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 (edited) I actually like British humor, it tends to be drier and wittier than most of its American counterparts. Edited March 12, 2008 by Deadly_Nightshade "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot
walkerguy Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I actually like British humor, it tends to be drier and witter than most of its American counterparts. Witter? More mistakes. No worries. Oh no, I sound like an Aussie. At any rate, I agree that most of our American jokes sorta suck and are about sex/poop. ROFL. Twitter | @Insevin
Tigranes Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 British jokes are the best in the English-speaking world, hands down. A man may fight for many things. His country, his friends, his principles, the glistening ear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French porn. . To be honest, Edmund Blackadder's insults only come to life with the verbal delivery. Rowan Atkinson is so much funnier when he talks. Guest The Architect Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 You know who else didn't think that joke was funny? Hitler. He was a very funny and down to earth guy. What's your point? Of course not, you're an Aussie. To be honest, Edmund Blackadder's insults only come to life with the verbal delivery. Rowan Atkinson is so much funnier when he talks. True. The delivery of a joke, while not as important as the joke itself, is still important.
