Playing as a Kainde Amedha (Xenomorph)

Featured Replies

When this games come out, I'll only play it if I have to option to do so from the Xenomorph's point of view, like in all the other games.

Kainde Amedha - Yautja (Predator) phrase meaning "hard meat." Used in reference to the Xenomorphs (Aliens).

I'm going for a tentative "not going to happen".

Predators aren't part of the aliens universe.

Perhaps some sort of genetic experiment that can think like a human could be a joinable NPC or something, but I seriously doubt you'll get the chance to play as a full alien.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be strictly pyode amedha only. Think about it, in FPS game you might overhear any plot elements you are meant to get while skulking about, but RPG is likely have more plot that you can conveniently hear that way and require more interaction than just killing things.

Aliens and predators in the same sentence : nopls.

Remeber the golden rule, everything called AVP invariably turns to ****.

Na na  na na  na na  ...

greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER.

That is all.

Oh? The original comic series was the best thing ever. The later ones were weaker, but never mind that. Games were pretty good too. Many may disagree, but I think the latest movie was a pretty decent action romp. Not a great or profound one, but decent entertainment. I might be a sucker for all those "homage" scenes, though.

I wasn't talking about playing as a predator, and anyone who thinks I did should have their eyes examined. I was talking about playing as an alien. As in the monster with a head shaped like a male sexual organ, a mouth on the end of its tongue, and an insectile sociology.

Incidentally, the aliens are also known as Kainde Amedha (as in "hard meat" or exoskeleton) in the predator language.

We know what you're talking about. And playing as an alien would make no sense in the context of an RPG.

"Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."

They have a society, albeit hive-based. They have a genetic memory. And they assimilate the memories of their hosts. They would put a unique spin on otherwise dull excuses for entertainment and roll-playing.

That sounds like a contrived justification for a game that could not possibly get even enough audience to be considered niche.

Role playing as an Alien. Just think about that. Roll it around in your head a while.

Hive society and memory != individuality, creativity or purpose... cause the old "you are meaningless, the hive mother is your only goal" plot was good exactly once in AvP2 and is now just kind of dull.

It would only work as a Diablo 2-esque hack-n-slash.

Not really.

pshh.. Kainde Amedha. That name hurts even my eyes.

Was it t hard to just write XENOMORPH?

As for the topic itself, no I wouldn't want to play as an alien. To much risk of ruining the whole alien mystery, especially in rpg game.

It was ok in fps games, when you don't get too much info on your character and story.

The pyode amedha statement, makes it sound as if the Predator material is part of the Alien universe.

I would just like to amend that it is not, that is only part of the AvP crossover universe. The Alien and AvP universes are separate and the two should never be mixed up.

Playable Aliens

Personally I don

Simple. The particular alien PC is one of the rare few that was exposed to a trigger related to their host's personal life (such as a loved one), which caused their host's memories and personality to come to the fore, making the alien, for all intents and purposes, the same person who died giving birth to it. Such "rogues" are usually hunted down by the hive, as they are by definition a dangerous risk.

Or they can go the smart route and ignore this "alien has hosts memories" nonsense. Because you're just one step away from having Aliens speaking english and attending dinner parties.

Indeed. I was never a fan of even the "aliens assimilate the host DNA" idea and memories is much sillier than that.

I think you'll find most people are ambivalent towards it or will change their minds if it is pulled off in a novel and interesting way.

I think the alien with the hosts memories should eventually meet up with the loved one and after learning a valuable lesson that it's whats inside that count, we get some totally hot alien lovin'. GOTY.

Hey, that could actually work if you put a "Frankenstein's Monster" spin on it, instead.

C'mon, there's a distinct lack of Frankenstein's Monster plots out there. THEY JUST WANT TO BE LOVED.
