July 10, 200718 yr http://e3.gamespot.com/story.html?sid=6173...updates;title;0 GS: Well, back to Western publishers. How are the two Aliens games coming along? SJ: Again, neither will be shown at the E3 this year, but it's an incredibly exciting project. We're working very closely with [film studio 20th Century] Fox to make the launch of those games feel actually like a new Aliens movie is coming out, because the investment and the passion that's going into them from Gearbox, Obsidian, and from Sega itself are just really, really cool and very, very exciting. But I probably don't want to say anything more than that at this point in time. GS: Are they going to be released around the same time as each other, or is that still up in air? SJ: It's still to be announced.
July 10, 200718 yr Good catch, croco. But I didn't know there were two games. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
July 10, 200718 yr You never heard about the Gearbox game? Seriously? There's a thread about it. Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
July 10, 200718 yr You never heard about the Gearbox game? Seriously? There's a thread about it. I thought they were collaborating on it, rather than having a separate game. "It wasn't lies. July 10, 200718 yr Gearbox is making an fps and Obsidian an rpg. They collaborate on art assets, design and such, but ultimately they are done separately. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. July 10, 200718 yr This means we'll see PG, right Nelson? How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them. - OverPowered Godzilla (OPG)
July 11, 200718 yr So no information at E3, then? That's a shame, though far from a surprise. I'll be quite interested to see how they make the launch of the games similar to the launch of a new Alien movie - that's the kind of thing that LucasArts has tried to do. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
July 11, 200718 yr Copy that. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
July 11, 200718 yr Well, if they continue the advancing in game making, especially in the role playing genre, it is almost like making interactive movies. You have that laready in games like the KotORs and Jade Empire. Murphy's Law of Computer Gaming: The listed minimum specifications written on the box by the publisher are not the minimum specifications of the game set by the developer. @\NightandtheShape/@ - "Because you're a bizzare strange deranged human?" July 11, 200718 yr I think to claim Jade Empire or KOTOR are like interactive movies is to just blatantly insult movies. The pacing of either is absolutely ridiculous for a movie. Action and adventure (+ action adventure!) have a far greater chance of breaching the gap between game and movie than RPGs likely ever will. Sorry, I get opinionated when I'm working. July 12, 200718 yr Seriously, though, it's probably true that an FPS is the most likely genre to reach cinema status. Personally, while I like the cinematics in games, I don't play a game to get a movie experience anyhow. Something about the interactive nature of games just doesn't lend itself to the same feel as a book or a movie. Games should be a literary vehicle in their own right. I think to achieve cinematic status for games, you have to take a movie then add game to that. Not take a game and add cinema to that. Dragon's Lair is interactive cinema. Some things like Resident Evil 5 and Indigo Prophecy merely have interactice cinematics. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
July 13, 200718 yr Dragons lair, man that takes me back. Although, it's not really that interactive, you only get a couple of dabs at the joystick for every sequence. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
