July 1, 200718 yr Dear Obsidian, Please implement online cooperative play. Sincerely, Your CEO (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
July 1, 200718 yr My name is Llyranor, and I approve of this message! (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
July 1, 200718 yr Author I, too, am named Llyranor and approve of this message. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
July 1, 200718 yr So long as it doesn't detract from a high quality single-player main campaign, sure, go ahead, make the console people happy. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
July 1, 200718 yr Console people? Console people do split-screen. PC needs online co-op. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
July 1, 200718 yr Yeah, it's a little hard to co-op around a 17" computer screen. OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
July 1, 200718 yr Author Dear Obsidian, please allow splitscreen AND online coop. At the same time if more than 2 people are involved. Sincerely, Your CEO PS: Your bonus revolves around this. PPS: MCA, I have lost your contact information. Please send them to me again, for non-stalkish CEO purposes. Also send money. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
July 2, 200718 yr If the new aliens RPG doesn't have online coop...*death threats*! (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
July 2, 200718 yr Unless you're making a Diablo-style dialogue-free hackfest, co-op via the single-player campaign don't make a hell of a lot of sense. Just look at NWN2, for christ's sake. Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
July 2, 200718 yr No one does split screen for pc, but a lot of people have lan setups. I would heartely approve of an online/offline cooperative campaign mode, even if they didn't make very much out of it, like BG for instance. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
July 2, 200718 yr Unless you're making a Diablo-style dialogue-free hackfest, co-op via the single-player campaign don't make a hell of a lot of sense. Just look at NWN2, for christ's sake. Or look at the Baldur's Gates games. The Halo games. The original Neverwinter Nights. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I know a lot of people who love co-op. Myself included. I just wish more games had it. I also wish I could get my friends to play Baldur's Gate and Chaos Theory co-op with me. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
July 2, 200718 yr I agree with Llyranor and Llyranor. Do co-op. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. So let us go and embrace the rustling smells of unseen worlds
July 2, 200718 yr I agree with Llyranor and Llyranor. Do co-op. I like Llyranor and Llyrano, but Llyranor is a douche. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
July 2, 200718 yr Can you play Baldur's Gate co-op? How hard is it to organise? "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
July 2, 200718 yr Can you play Baldur's Gate co-op? How hard is it to organise? Define organize in context. You all have to be in the same relative area at the same time if that's the kind of thing you're looking for. Not clear on who gets to control the NPCs, but I think it's most likely the host. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
July 2, 200718 yr Can you play Baldur's Gate co-op? How hard is it to organise? I tried it via LAN once. One player creates the Bhaalspawn and another player creates a peripheral character who, in the context of the game, might as well be a hired hand, since the entire game revolves around the bhaalspawn. If you want, you can Icewind Dale it and create an entire party of adventurers. Basically, you divide the party amongst yourselves. One player can control the bhaalspawn and the other can control the rest of the party, they can split it 3-3, they can split it 4-2, whatever. You can change the configuration at any time. Playing a single player LAN game is a good way to get around the irritating lack of certain character types amongst the Bioware NPCs (evil characters, dedicated thieves, etc.) Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
July 2, 200718 yr I tried co-op in BG 2 once, it's fun for a while, but the game really isn't done for that type of gaming. I'd imagine it would work better in a hack like Icewind Dale, but I haven't tried. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. July 3, 200718 yr Author Nick and me tried to coop in NWN2. It was pretty horrible. RTwP simply doesn't really allow for it without awkward pacing. The game would have been much more enjoyable coop (or sp, but that's another argument) were it turn-based. If Aliens RPG focuses on a more FPS-like combat system, it could be more coop-friendly. It's too bad Mass Effect isn't coop. That system looks like it would have worked well. Maybe then I'd pick it up day1 instead of when it hits the bargain bin. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
July 3, 200718 yr I played through 2 hrs of shadows of amn with some russian fellow and another player who left almost immediately, it helps to be a fighter or a cleric, cause theres no auto pause obviously. The game was a bit wierd but the guy was very intertaining. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
July 3, 200718 yr No pause? Aaaaaagh! "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. RIP Hades/Sand/etc. Here's hoping your next alt has a harp.
July 3, 200718 yr I'm not sure how co-op works for an RPG, especially if the kind with many approach to accomplish a single goal. If he takes a different route from the rest of the group, triggering something else... Ugh, hard to explain. I feel RPG games isn't meant for co-op. Action games like Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six is possible since its more focused on objective and level based scenario.

Action games like Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six is possible since its more focused on objective and level based scenario. RPGs are classic co-op games. Tabletop is traditionally, though not exclusively, co-op and RPGs are the foundation of the MMO genre. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
July 4, 200718 yr I agree with the OP. Co-op would be a great addition. Edited July 4, 200718 yr by Deraldin
July 5, 200718 yr SOMEONE FROM OBS BETTER BE READING THIS THREAD! Or, you know, have half a brain. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
