WHAT ABOUT THE SOUND LOLLERZ.

One of the the many things I did not like about AvP2 was the music. It was good music, don't get me wrong, but the cues actually interfered with the gameplay. When you were a marine exploring a level (which is what I assume the Alien RPG will resemble) a lot of the suspense was ruined, because all you had to do was listen for a music cue trigger, as the aliens spawned and combat music began playing before you even had sight of the creature.

Another thing about both of the AvP games was that you could usually hear the aliens from a mile away. They'd screech and make noises as they came towards you, something they didn't do in the movies. Of course, silent enemies probably would have been hard to balance, but I'm wondering if Obs can do a better job of staying tru to the Alien aesthetic.

Note that AvP is really the only point of reference I have for Aliens in games. If anybody's got better examples, feel free to object.

* edit - also, who should do the S/T, and how should it sound? I'm hoping for some dark ambience-type stuff.

I'm positive it is going to rock.

I hope the music is dynamic, changing at every fleeting moment depending on the circumstances.

Too many music (or any sound) cues can ruin suspense., I agree.

As long as the music isn't heavy-metal/rock oriented, which I don't think would be generally the right vibe, I'll probably be happy. But I'd also like it if much of the time there was no music at all - I think it would heighten the scariness, myself ... just the throb of an engine, the sound of steam vents and your footsteps, no music - at least until a fight started. Combat music is usually fun.

Still gaming with my 9900k/2080ti/32 ram. One day I suppose a game may inspire me to finally upgrade. Maybe.

I hope the music is dynamic, changing at every fleeting moment depending on the circumstances.

I hope not. This often ruins the tension. I.e. you haven't seen the Alien yet, but the combat music already triggers within a certain radius, hence gives away you're near an enemie. Lame Lamer Dynamic music.

This has to be one of the best additions to Obsidian since it started.

It sounds very digitally. Got anything with more of an Aliens flair?

You know, that game WAS cyberpunk ;)

What about the music / sound?, Will we dance to it?

Industrial or trance.

No, that won't do. Much as I like the Quake soundtrack, it just wouldn't work in an Aliens game. I'd prefer something more along the lines of the first movie's ST: Understated and quiet, so as to add to the isolated mood.

Just don't make it like the Diablo 2 soundtrack with shrieks and rattling chains.

Those were actually parts of the ambient tracks on the background, not in the actual music tracks.
