Last I heard the Alien CRPG is a cross platform game and not just console.

Murphy's Law of Computer Gaming: The listed minimum specifications written on the box by the publisher are not the minimum specifications of the game set by the developer.

Given the low profile of DNF, I have not heard it go beyond the Unreal engine.

Wars:

* The American War for Independence

* The United States Civil War

* World War I

* World War II and the entire Manhattan Project.

* The United State's involvement in the Vietnam War.

Fixed (because you confused me ;))

Yeah, but the article was posted on IGN PC section, so maybe they just didn't mention the PC.

I think Unreal 3 engine would be perfect for Aliens. It has this "shiny" feel that is perfect for an Aliens game. Doom 3 engine would also be a good choice, but it's getting a bit old already.

Or they could be refering to Obsidian's other project they are working concurrently with the Alien game.

yeah, i wonder what game that is. whatever it is, i'm not interested if they're making it for consoles only.

I am only interested in it if it is a platform I own. Which is currnently just the PC.

DNF is based on the Unreal Engine, heavily modified of course. And to back up my statement with hard facts, here's the first ingame screenshot!

I mean, everyone can see that's totally Unreal, right?

The Unreal Engine looks great, even better than Source.

Just imagine an Alien RPG or FSP looking like this:

2009 IS a long, long way off but at least you know that THIS time Obsidian arent being rushed to get the game out as quicky as possible just because its an established licence and Sega know it would make lots of $

Who cares what it looks like. ;)

It must have fun gameplay.

Let's hope not. I don't want to shoot at silly looking clowns.

I'm rather more concerned about establishing the right mood and (most importantly) good animations when it comes to the visual aspect. A technical impressive game like GoW only last impressive for a few minutes, then the magic is over.

Let's hope the Obsidian artists know what makes visuals interesting and what merely impressive.

Gow have pretty nice animations and gameplay...its all about the engine, you know. Unreal Engine 3 bring you the possibility of make a game whit awesome gamaplay.

Every engine allows one to make a game with great gameplay.

Some just make it prettier for the eyes (and easier for the devs) than others

Its the story that matters. Not the graphics.

Says the person who's favorite games are Fallout and Diablo

Hey, they do have great graphics... for their day and age.

They both had good graphics and excellent stories. I'm more picky on 3D games, mainly character faces and how they need to look real. I'd take a simple looking Fallout over a horrid looking NWN.

Too bad good 3D graphics normally runs like crap.

Better GFX cost more room in terms of RAM & Disk space, they also take longer to produce.

So as a general rule good graphics actually costs gameplay & game length.
