Say what you want, but I want to see the hot breath and slobbering of an Alien in a close view. I want that it throws down from the ceiling and grabs after me so that I jump from my seat, and not see it 50m in advance (like in 3rd person) running towards me so that I just have to hit the trigger. Again, we're not talking about some cannon fodder, if the devs are smart, they'd make every Alien encounter special. That's what I'm hoping for at least.

I can't wait for an Alien RPG where I can finally roleplay an alien with great dialogue trees.

And imagine romances between aliens and humans. Or a facehugger making passes at a predator before jumping on his face.

A predator companion NPC who is a Rastafarian would be a good idea, too. :))

Oh, I wasn't saying that I'd prefer any Alien game to be in third person. I totally agree with you that it should be first person. I was just saying that there have been good third person action games.

Agreed. Botn could be exceptionally fun games. 1st person games are automatically less immersive and less exciting and less cool to me.

Aliens in 3rd person > Aliens in 1st person.

I doubt you even have watched the Alien movies, otherwise you would know what "immersive" even means. Lawlipop.

I doubt you know what movies I have watched or not watched outside of the ones in the movie thread so you are only making a SPAM out fo yourself with your assumptions.

Gotta agree with Morgoth. FPS = Better suited for horror games. Alien = Horror movies. Therefore, FPS = Alien.

Disagree.

System Shock 2 was very much built as an RPG, and it worked fine. Same with Bloodlines. :dancing:

Shock2 was a FPS with stats, not an RPG. There was no roleplaying in Shock2. Heck, there weren't even alive people on board you could directly interact with. But being an RPG does not exclude to have FPV. Bloodlines worked fine on that level, only melee combat kinda sucked.

Kinda?

Stats and character building as well as a story.

Sounds like an RPG to me. :dancing:

This could be interesting. And I mean the RPG Alien, not the FPS version. But I wonder what they'll do with it? I mean, Alien was restricted to one alien in a claustrophobic spaceship. Aliens (Alien 2) was restricted to a space station on a mining planet (best movie ever!!1). Alien 3 was so bad I'd rather forget about it entirely. Alien 4 was all about a huge spaceship, with a mutated Alien. And a slimy blob. And a girl in a thong.

I'm guessing they won't be making an open-ended RPG with sprawling maps and tons of interesting locales. Or I might just be narrow-minded and unimaginative.

I could see it being something along the lines of System Shock.

"Oh come on, sledgehammer mayhem wasn't that unfun, actually."

Ok, it was to watch enemies go flying everywhere; but the combat itself wa smore than 'kinda bad', imo.
