Pidesco Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 (edited) It would be better. Just don't expect to run NWN2 with everything on. By the way, before buying anything, have you tried do disable shadows and water detail? Edit: For someone on a budget, I'd say that's a pretty good choice, actually. welshrat Posted November 6, 2006 Author Posted November 6, 2006 I can get it to run ,id just like it to be a bit prettier.Im totaly lost when it comes to graphics cards,i live in the uk and dont want too spend too much
Pidesco Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 (edited) As you're on a budget, I think you should go for it. It will help your performance with other games, too. Although, I'm not very familiar with ATI cards and there are other X1600 models that may or may not be better than the pro version. Your motherboard has a PCI-Express slot, right? Edit: I was taking a look at the other options from that site, and that card does seem to be the best budgety choice. Xard Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I have no intents to make new topics just for this so I ask here. I blame these forums for hyping me into NWN 2 so much that I'll make quick update to my computer...something I've never done for any game before. Damnit, OE should be proud. (well, now I can finally play Oblivion and other new games too... ^_^ ) Because of this I can't get totally new rig atleast until next spring. But I just want to play NWN 2 damnit! So, with this morfin fix for my dying computer, its specs look like this: Athlon 3500+ 1 GB Asus GeForce 7600 GT 256 mb PCI-E That's best I can get in my current money situation. I just want to ask (even better if someone has this same card, though I trust your opinions) how well 7600 GT runs NWN 2. It seems to be good card from what I've heard. How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them. - OverPowered Godzilla (OPG)
Pidesco Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I'm going to play my game with such a card, so I hope it runs NWN2 well. What monitor do you use? Xard Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Its "old style", 19" CRT. Can't afford TFT yet How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them. - OverPowered Godzilla (OPG)
Pidesco Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 In that case, I'll venture a guess and say you'll be fine. CRTs are the way for smart, poor gamers to go. Xard Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 (edited) Yeah, if I had 24" TFT all would be different Thanks for help Pidesco Edited November 6, 2006 by Xard How can it be a no ob build. taks Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 quick points welshrat... first, disable v-sync in your nVidia options. it defaults to application controlled. this is a big boost. second, turn off shadows in NWN2. third, water reflections and refractions can probably be turned off, too, as there really aren't many scenes with water in them. fourth, cut down your dynamic lights to something less than 4. taks comrade taks... just because.
Deadly_Nightshade Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 I have a 6800 <_< -but only until I get around to upgrading as I have $350 allotted for a new card - and with shadows disabled I was able to have everything else on full resolution and quality... "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot
taks Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 i'm gonna try kicking it all up tonight. except shadows, of course. taks comrade taks... just because.
Deadly_Nightshade Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Also, if you disable all the shadow options it will run faster with older cards, I already had shadows turned off so don't ask me why it worked... Walsingham Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Good luck with your quest for the cheap video card. I'm betting that along the way you find a few hundred water reclamation chips.
