Pop Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 I've yet to play any RPG that captured my attention and imagination as well as Fallout did. Every time I play an RPG, I compare it (intentionally or no) to Fallout, and they never quite measure up. I just hope the guys who are making the next one remember it as well as I do Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
Craigboy2 Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 I installed the demo but I get a black screen when I try ot play it. Dark_Raven Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 (edited) Demo? Those things are still around? Edited September 16, 2006 by Dark_Raven Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Craigboy2 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Demo? Those things are still around? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's how people play games before they buy them... Pop Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Demo? Those things are still around? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, you can get the demos at any Fallout community site with an FTP (DaC or NMA, nominally) Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!
Dark_Raven Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Demo? Those things are still around? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's how people play games before they buy them... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Considering how old Fallout is i didn't think there were any demos left. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Craigboy2 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Fileplanet, maybe it's because I'm using XP and I have direct X 9. Llyranor Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Try playing it in compatibility mode. Right-click the .exe file and go to properties. Go in win95 mode. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)

Llyranor Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Hey, the game's almost 10 years old, dawg. DAWG. Represent! (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)

Oh ya and I hate the combat system. I shoot, have to walk around. Be attacked and than repeat. "Your total disregard for the law and human decency both disgusts me and touches my heart. alanschu Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 (edited) Fallout is the best there is, the best there was, the best that ever will be. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If this type of thinking persisted, then we wouldn't get games like Fallout. Edited September 17, 2006 by alanschu
Dark_Raven Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Fallout clones! Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
alanschu Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I just was expecting better because of what I've heard. Oh ya and I hate the combat system. I shoot, have to walk around. Be attacked and than repeat. I wonder how many of us would think the same thing if we hadn't played it all those years ago? I wouldn't be surprised if half the people that claim to love the game so much wouldn't even give it a second look if the originals were never made, and suddenly were released today.
Darque Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Fallout clones! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bethesda: It's not what we do well. "
alanschu Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 To be honest, I don't know if I'd like a clone. The nice thing about NOT being a clone is that it means it's possible for us to get something different that is actually better.
Dark_Raven Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I may not like clones. I could never get into Diablo clones compared to the game itself. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

But if you get laden with Fallout clones, it's going to sour your perception of the style. And as I said, if people were content with just making clones of the good games back in the day, we'd never get a Fallout.
Llyranor Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Well, some people don't mind playing the same games over and over again. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Dark_Raven Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Certainly we do not. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
alanschu Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Wouldn't they like playing a better game over and over more?
Darque Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Wouldn't they like playing a better game over and over more? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Can there really be a game that's better than Fallout or Fallout 2?
Dark_Raven Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Better in what? I prefer simple 2D games like Fallout and BG over something like Oblivion or soon to be released NWN2. It had a great story and wicked humor that I liked. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Llyranor Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 So why bother keeping up with the gaming industry at all? You already have FO and BG. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
