Kitch Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I finally got around to seeing V for Vendetta. I wasn't disappointed.
Kaftan Barlast Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 so realistic and brutal that you get that "Thats gotta hurt!!" feeling. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I noticed that too. My uneducated guess is that since it was filmed in Thailand, the hits were real. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The hits are real. I saw some behind the scenes footage where the actors would just scream in agony between takes after smacking their elbows into stuff. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeh, I figured it had to be atleast semi-contact(or what you call it)because you could see them really rolling with the blows. It obviously wasnt real, but the scene where the other guy gets his arms broken and the hero subsequently breaks the henchmans knee just made me cringe in utter horror. Dark_Raven Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Horror, the horror... Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Exar Kun Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Miami Vice I still think Heat is Michael Mann's best film to date.
Pidesco Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 The Insider is much better. "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian touristI am Dan Quayle of the Romans.I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands.Heja Sverige!!Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.
Exar Kun Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 The Insider is much better. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Realmente... No.
Pidesco Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Actually... Yes. This line of argument could go far. Exar Kun Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Actually... Yes. This line of argument could go far. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Okay... No. Now, explain to all of us here why you think The Insider is better than Heat. Just use some of your Comparative Analysis skills, Pidesco.
Pidesco Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 (edited) The characters' dilemmas are better and deeper, Pacino is better in The Insider than in Heat, Russel Crowe gives the best performance of his life, it doesn't have Val Kilmer in it, and it's smarter. Edit: I think Heat is pretty good, by the way. Hurlshort Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 I agree with Pidesco. I liked Heat, but The Insider was powerful.
Baley Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 The first 30 minutes of Heat are, like, cinema's greatest achievement. On par with the Janine\Jesse Jane scene in Pirates, Skammen's ending and the opening shot of Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes. Kikujir
Pidesco Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Kikujiro is good stuff, indeed. "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian touristI am Dan Quayle of the Romans.I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands.Heja Sverige!!Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.

Dark Moth Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 I'm now watching a subtitled version of Tiger and Crane Fists. Some of you may better know it as the film Kung Pow took for some of its footage. Not the greatest martial arts film ever, but I enjoy watching Jimmy Wang Yu's stuff.
Dark Moth Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Indeed it was. "Face-to-foot style, how dja like it?"
