Craigboy2 Posted June 24, 2006 Author Posted June 24, 2006 (edited) 17-mile dive should be close. Heast castle should be good, too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not a fan of golf and I don't think I'm the kind of person you'd at a place that nice but I'm intersted in the Heart Castle, my dad said something about it to me earlier today. Darth Drabek Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 I second the "Monterrey is beautiful" comment. Check out the sea lions by all the shops on the wharf. They have a really nice marina too, with sharks, eels and all sorts of fishies. For something less touristy, go to Carmel and pretend you're one of those rich bastards who lives there. Wasn't Clint Eastwood the mayor of Carmel for a while? Oh, and San Francisco is one of my coolest cities in the world. Get breakfast at Mama's and if you want to really fork out the cash, get dinner at Scoma's on the pier. baby, take off your beret everyone's a critic and most people are DJs
Cantousent Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 I suggest staying a week in Pacific Grove. Just to see the monarch butterflies. The limbs of the trees were literally bowed beneath their weight. It was a beautiful sight. Fenghuang Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Why hasn't anybody suggested the Monterey Bay Aquarium yet? If you're in Monterey and you don't go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium you might as well not go. That place is rad. Hearst Castle is good too. If you make it to San Francisco there's this really cool little Wood Carving shop on the lower level (called One of a Kind IIRC) of Ghirardelli Square that's worth checking out if you're into...wood. Bernardoz Ice Cream is neat, but there's only like two or three of them, one I go to when I'm in that area is in Arroyo Grande, where my mom grew up. If you're in LA the greaseballs they serve at Tommy's Burgers are good. Basically make sure you go to the Aquarium if you're in Monterey anyhow. RIP
Hurlshort Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 LA is like 6 hours away, so I wouldn't recommend that drive.
Bokishi Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 San Fransisco is a great city, but attitude there is too socialistic. I don't want to share my resteraunt table with some dude I don't know kk? Current 3DMark
Fenghuang Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 When did that happen? I would've told 'im to pike off. RIP
Bokishi Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Just hang around the local areas (the non-tourist spots) and you'll find lot's of commies. Current 3DMark
Fenghuang Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 I have, and I've still never had that happen to me. I must look too sullen or something. RIP
LadyCrimson Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 (edited) I think the areas I'd suggest have already been mentioned. Will you have access to a car? 17-mile drive definitely a good scenic 'tour' of that area, and Monterey Aquarium is definitely a must in my opinion. If you like amusement parks, Great America is decent but that's not really in the Monterey area, it's further north. If you have a car, Hiway 1 from Santa Cruz to Half Moon Bay is also a very nice drive with some outdoorsy things to do and see including a couple hiking parks and various beaches. If you visit San Francisco, be prepared for traffic irritation in all areas and all ways. I'm not a huge fan of the city but it does have some good tourist attractions. P.S. Monterey is typically pretty overcast, so expect that. Maybe you'll get lucky and have sun the whole time tho. I think it's pretty either way. Fenghuang Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Actually I usually wear this when I'm in the Bay. " RIP
Musopticon? Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 That shirt is awesome. Hey Jim, if I ever get the money to do a Tour d'America, can I stay at your place when I'm at Cal? kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. Fenghuang Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 I'd say yes but it's not really my place it's my dad's, you'd have to clear it with him. My place would actually be a pretty crappy centralized California spot though, seeing as I'm above most things of interest. Unless you come in off of I-80 in Auburn and you're really tired, then I'm about 30 minutes away. RIP
Musopticon? Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Keeping that in mind, thanks man. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. Hurlshort Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 That would be right up there for my reason to visit besides Hollywood. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, the two are extremely far apart. It's like visiting London to see the Eifel Tower. I had a British friend who moved to San Jose because he wanted to be an actor. He ended up working in computers. He never made it to Hollywood.
