funcroc Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 http://www.quanticdream.com/pages/frameset_index.php?lg=en QUANTIC DREAM will be presenting a real-time demo on PLAYSTATION 3
Hurlshort Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Wow, Tears...that's revolutionary. Seriously, I'm looking forward to this based solely on the ability to tell a good story,
funcroc Posted May 11, 2006 Author Posted May 11, 2006 (edited) Quantic Dream released the full version of Heavy Rain: The Casting tech demo video (132MB) at the official site. http://www.quanticdream.com/pages/frameset_index.php?lg=en Very impressive. Edited May 11, 2006 by funcroc
Morgoth Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 It's kinda surprising that they announce a spiritual successor to Fahrenheit when they just canceled Infraworld (also spiritual successor to FH) due to the fact that Fahrenheit wasn't finacially successful enough to justify another game of that gameplay style. I'm more eager to see something about that Omikron game (KARMA). Rain makes everything better.
Llyranor Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 I dunno. Cyborgs and necrophilia was a bit much. Even I have limits. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)

Darque Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 I still find it surprising... but then David Cage doesn't seem to be all there... so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised
Plano Skywalker Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 IMO, everything about the game was fantastic, except the story itself. The story just fell flat in the end. The presentation was awesome and I really did not mind "Simon Says". Perhaps a combination of Simon Says with a little conventional combat might be a good thing. IP is still one of the best games out there, though.
Darque Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 75% of Indigo Prophecy was beyond awesome.... it's just everything after the amusement park that sucked Hopefully they'll get it right next time
Hassat Hunter Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 (edited) 75% of Indigo Prophecy was beyond awesome.... it's just everything after the amusement park that sucked Life (and game) sucks when you're dead But I agree... and would rather have another FH than another Omikron. alanschu Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 I saw the Virtual Actor demo, which looked really cool (though the movement of the upper lip seemed a little off...but all in all it seemed cool).
Morgoth Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 If that was Realtime, then I'll have to eat a kitten or something... Seriously, I fully believe in Quantic Dream's Vision and ability of creating groundbreaking and emotionally sophisticated characters, one thing however that already lacked in Fahrenheit though were the somewhat small and restricted areas. I fear Heavy Rain may again be more a movie experience rather than a game. Ohhh boy, just imagine a Deus Ex style game (just bigger and better ) with a huge rendered cityscape, populated with hundreds...gah thousands of such sophisticated characters where you can go and do everything you want, and everything affects everything blah blah blah.... You know what I mean? Rain makes everything better.
Spider Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 I fear Heavy Rain may again be more a movie experience rather than a game. But this was exactly the point of Indigo Prophecy. You were playing a movie and that they managed to keep that stylistic vision intact throughout the game is what made it unique. (what made it good was the story and the characters)
Morgoth Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 (edited) Fahrenheit was a nice change, though I don't necessarily need another game of that kind....especially when it's story-telling technique didn't live up to the hype. Not to mention the actually sucky and corny story towards the end. I rather want to see another Omikron style game. Edited May 12, 2006 by Morgoth Rain makes everything better.
Judge Hades Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 I liked Indigo Prophecy but it had very litle replay value.

You were playing a movie and that they managed to keep that stylistic vision intact throughout the game is what made it unique. With the splitscreen and action and such I would say it looked more like 24 than a movie. But who cares; since 24 (and Fahrenheit) are so good (well, Fahrenheit in the begin atleast)... I liked Indigo Prophecy but it had very litle replay value. Disagreed. Due to the action scenes it has more replay value than the avarage adventure game where you just have to solve the same itempuzzles and other puzzles you already know the answer of. But with that action you still need to keep alot of attention... Hassat Hunter Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Did you play on Easy, Medium or Hard? Hard is just the way anyone should go to have fun with Fahrenheit (damn your Indigo Prophecy... it is called Fahrenheit! ) But really; if you find of no how does an adventure like Monkey Island give you more replay value than Fahrenheit? ^ I agree that that is such a stupid idiotic pathetic garbage hateful retarded scumbag evil satanic nazi like term ever created. Pidesco Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Wasn't Fahrenheit completely linear? I thought it was just a movie rolling by with the simon says bits thrown in just so that the designers could say the game actually had gameplay. Pidesco Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 But Deus Ex had actual complex gameplay that was part of the story. And you could play each level in many non-linear ways.
