!!! WARNING!!! LONG, POSSIBLY BORING POST AHEAD !!!WARNING!!!

BACKGROUND: Thanks to Atari announcing that darn PSP turn base D&D game, it's got me itching for some tb D&D fun. Due to this, despite my MANY complaints about the game and consideirng I was *this* close to beating it a long time ago in a galaxy far, far awat; I decided to see if I can finish it so it can be upgraded from poor game to good game... We shall see..

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Considering how relativley easy I found the game the first time, and combat is the best part of it, I decided to play this version in Iron Mode. Let's hope it does not crash. This means characters will die and will be replaced and all rolls are final (except for the leader's ability scores which I rerolled once, lol)... Let's meet the crew...

THE CAST: The party is known as "Evil's Charmers" - so named by their leader's penchant for dominating enemies and forcing them to sacrifice themselves for their cause. Party alignment is NE.

1. Karyle the Bloodcharmer - LE Human Male Enchanter of Vecna

----------------------------

He loves control. He lives it. He breathes it. Forcing others to do what he wants is what gets him up in the morning. Entering physical combat is beneath, and he'd rather stick with his spells. Karyle is no fool, however, and if he needs to use a weapon to survive, he surely will. The Enchanter finds controlling the undead are for cowards, and illusions are the weak so he *never* uses spells from those puny schools. Karyle is the undisputed leader of the party because the others either fear that'll magically control them or they trust him to lead them to success in their respective goals.

2. Harshii - NE Halfling Female Rogue of Erythnul

--------

She is all about the kill, and the loot. Harshii follows Karyle because she sees him watching her with lust in his eyes, and she fears if she crosses him the Enchanter will just enspell her which gives the halfling shivers. She bides her time, however, to a situation where a qucik strike of her dagger will end the wizard's life.

3. Thorrak Darkgem - CE Dwarf Male Barbarian of Erythnul

--------------------

Thorrak only feels comfortable when covered in the blood of his enemies. He fears nothing, and no one and follows the leader of the group as long as the dwarf is given ample oppurtunity to partake in his favorite activity - bloodshed. Karyle hopes to one day find a way to control Thorrak enough to give him proper warrior training to balance out his berserking tendencies...

4. Psycholara - CE Half Orc Female Sorceror of Chaos (no diety)

------------

As her name suggests, this she orc is a psycho. Her motives are unknown, her activities are unknown, her desires are unknown. Psycholara's true name has been forgotten and it is doubtful she even knows what it is. She loves explosive spells as well as those spells used to confuse the enemy (and her allies). Nobody, not even even Karyle, knows why Psycholara has joined them... and, he feels it's not worth asking the half orc to leave.. espicially since she is useful at times.. Eventually, the sorceress will branch out into warrior, and rogue ways when it is time.

5. Manou Klanthith - LE Human Male Cleric of Hextor

------------------

Manou is beyond arrogant, and believes he is Hextor's Chosen Above All Other Priests. He believes this because in his mind, his diety speaks to him directly. In fact, it was Hextor himself who ordered Klanthith to join up with Karyle due to his belief that much destruction and bloodshed will be committed due to the wizard's goals. Manou doesn't even talk with the other party members and only addresses the party leader when he needs another to do soemthing. The cleric only grudgingly heals his allies on orders by his boss.

COMBAT TATICS: Fireballs and other area effect spells are thrown then the barbarian rushes in followed by the cleric slower as back up. The rogue picks off any enemies that seem to be vulnerible (ie. spellcasters). Karyle will usually try to dominate the most powerful looking foe, and hold any other most dangerous ones. The others simply hope that Psycholara does something useful as she may run in with her staff or cast a spell, Nobody knows. If a retreat is called (only by the leader), he retreats first then followedby the others.

TOWN TATICS: As the leader, Karyle realizes the small halfling is the most likely to get wanted answers without making a fuss. If intimidation is required, the dwarf can usually scare foes into giving them what they want. If neither of those options are viable, Karyle himself is on hand to change the target's mind with a spell or two.

NEXT UPDATE: I will introduce the party as they take their first steps on the journey.

OTHER STUFF: If you have any feedback, or questions about specifc characters or stats or just toot a horn give it a go. Even predict which character will be the first to fall. My prediction is Psycholara! Heheh.

'Til then...

Have fun.

Or not.

DIARY OF A POWER MAD ENCHANTER

--------------------------------------------

written by, Karyle.

Entry #1: My minions, and I charged into the Church of St. Cuthbert, and after the silly priest there threw a few taunts at us, we promptly tortured and kill the fool. Our next mission is to head to Hommlett, and destroy the church there as well for some profit.

Entry #2: After arriving in this dainty little village, I realized rather quickly, that the folks here are beyond pathetic. They allow drunks to play in the streets and accost travelers for gold to play adventurer. No to mention the invisible chidlren the 'proud parents' speak off... The only place in town remotely worthwhile is the inn run by a smart innkeeper who gave us free room and baord for as long as we wnat it simply because we called out a lying scum who tried to cheat Thorrak out of his money. The shops for the most part are crap. They don't even bother selling the good stuff.

Entry #3: It's been a few days, and these pathetic people have been harassing us to do the silliest things for them like getting them hitch or helping them join the the town 'army'. Bah. I told them to piss off. I did help the Rufus and Burn with a spy problem, and ratted out the spy's bosses as well... The traders didn't appreciate that. I say screw them. Out of boredom, the crazy Psycholara convinced me to kill some spiders for the town woodcutter. What a waste of our time.

Entry #4: Everyone was whsipering about the moathouse being taken over by bandits. These bandits sound like my type of people so I decide to visit them. That was a mistake. First off, we got ambushed by some over sized frogs who tried to swallow the Psycho One. We managed to cut the frog in half before it finsihed its meal.

Just before the building itself, a rather large group of bandits jumped out of the bushes trying to slaugter us. I would have rather spoken to them, but they'd have none of it. I yawned, cast a few sleep spells while Thorrak led the troops in squashing them. Pitiful fools attacking us with their pitiful equipment. Sadly, it was getting late, so it was time to head back to town and rest.

Entry #5: That night, one of the inn patrons spoke to me about Emery Meadows and the lost treasures that can be found. I decided a different approach should be had so we sent off to investigate the place. Arriving there conviently at night, it didn't take long for a small army of skeletons attacked us. Did I ever tell you how much I hate the undead? Well, I do, and that damn priest of mine thought it would be funny to dominate them as extra targets. I'd never tell him this, but I commend him on his wisdom.

Scouting ahead, Harshii hurried back and informed me of what she described as a large ugly creature, and its pet bear. From the rather good description, I made the determination that it must be a hill gaint. The foolhardy dwarf wanted to rush in; but I manged to get the point across that would spell the end of us. I told him we'd return once I felt we were capable of meeting such a beats. It took every ounce of willpower on his part to obey there. I commend Thorrak for that.

Entry #6: After a brief break, it was time to head back out to the moathouse. Inside, rats were scurrying about but they were no threat to use. Various other vicious animals like a giant snake were though; but ti didn't take for us to smash them to bits.

Inside a room, another group of bandits accosted us with orders from someone carrying a great axe much like my dwarf was. He was apparantly their leader. Between my sleep spells, the small skeleton army Klanthith had rounded up in the Meadow, and the attacks of Thorrak our group made quick work of them. The bandits were pitiful, and got what they deserve. I noticed some nearby stairs going down, and we all headed there.

Entry #7: Near some cells it looked like there were some zombies were eating some recently dead humans. Feeling it was better we get the jump on them before they saw us, we attacked. For some odd reason the battle was tougher than I thought it was going to be. Most of the skeletons were destroyed, and both our main tankers - the dwarf and cleric - were badly injured. Harshii unlocked some nearby doors, and we sent our skeletons in. Inside was an ogre, and we were in no shape to fight it so I told everyone to head back up stairs. Unfortunately, we couldn't as it seemed something magical was stopping us from doing so. We had no choice but to enter combat with the ogre so battle plans were drawn up. Spells were cast, and potions were drank.

What happened next was anything but good. It was utter chaos, and the ogre seemed like it would take unsurmountable damage. Psycholara, and Mansou went down rather quick. Thorrak was giving the beats some good thwaks while I was doing the only thing I could do and patch up the peons now bleeding on the floor. That's when disaster really stuck as the ogre felled the dwarf. His attention then turned to me, and I know I was in deep trouble. With no useful spells remaining, my mind raced with ideas. I had no choice but try to defend myself by putting all my effort into protecting myself. By this time, the ogre was on shaky legs. I had to hope Harshii's arrows could do the trick. I managed to last a few rounds, before the big oaf got a lucky hit through my defenses, and I landed in a pool of my own blood. As I fell, however, I saw the ogre basically squash Thorrak with its club and begin to move towards the halfling. I guess Thorrak would ahve been better off dying against the giant. That's the last thing I saw for a long while...

Entry #8: When I awoke, I was at the inn. Harshii informed me that she managed to get the beats with an arrow through the eye just before it reached her. The halfing, however, was quiet on hwo she managed to get all our unconcious or in the case of Thorrak our dead bodies back to the inn. I was too weak to push her for an answer at this time. She mentioned a large set of stairs behind where we fought the ogre. We would go there after we reprepared ourselves.

After finishing recovering, the four us bought more supplies and buried the unfortunate dwarf's remains. I was worried now that we had no front line warrior. There was no need, however, as luckily enough fate had brough another dwarf to the inn that day. His name was Mondarr Heavystone, and he overed his services in exchange for a share of the gold and gems. I agreed promptly. Now, it is time to head back and thoroughly investigate the moathouse. I wonder exactly what the ogre was guarding those stairs for... and, for hmm..

To. Be. Continued...

NEW CHARACTER ALERT

----------------------------

Mondarr Heavystone - LE Dwarf Male Fighter of Moradin

-----------------------

Mondarr is an Axe for Hire. He sells out to the highest bidder as long as there is promise of killing. Despite his vicious tendencies, he remains loyal to the dwarven race and will never fight another dwarf except in self defense even if it means breaking a deal with someone who has otherwise purchased his services.

CAMPAIGN SYNOPSIS #1: So far, it's been ok. All my characters are nearing level 3 except for the new warrior who just joined with 0xp. Fighting frogs is still fun even after all this time, and having a small skeleton army is cool though it's down to one boltless skele. Heh. Homlette is still a crap town with almost uniformly boring and awful quests. The Boathouse was cool until the garbage with the ogre. i knew we weren't ready to fight him so I tried to run... but, had forgotten that you cna't escape battles in TOEE. HAHA.. We were forced to fight... And, of course, as predicted, it didn't go so well... Got really lucky to survive, but unlucky that he decided to cleave Thorrak after knocking the leader Karyle down. Fighting defensively did give him a boost to ac which kept the battle going and Harshii time to kill the ogre. The halfling is the hero! LOL The game seems to crash when i try to exit no matter what. Talk about lame.

'Til next time!!! :huh::):luck:

Eh... Remind me not to 'Ironman Mode' for PC games... Not worth the ffort. Tried 3 times...

Time #1: I was stupid. Beyond stupid. I was basically on my last legs after a good 3-4 battles, and presse don even though I should ahve rested. Dumb idea, of course, and I knew better. Evenw arned myself I'd regret it. Got squashed in the next battle. 'Tis happens when all your characters have less than 50% of their hp, no spells left, and outnumbered 3 to 1.

R00fles!

Time #2: The above was my own fualt. Not the game's fault so I started up again keeping the same party (with the new dwarf fighter in)... was doing well, then the game crashed wiping out the save...

Time #3: Rince and repeated Time #2...

I said screw it, and decided to do it the old fashion way. Hilarious enoughly, the game has crashed only a couple of time since, and I've died a handful of times mostly whenI'm over pushing it. LOL

Just started the temple itself. Got some ghoul followers, characetrs are level 5, and I just made +6 gauntles of strength as well a sfound some ph@t elven chain.

Hopefully, I'l actually complete the game. Looks good in thatr egard thus far in spite of the horrid non combaty stuff. I've been testing out the various combat options which is pretty neat... Not that they're really needed; but cool nontheless.
