Baley Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 Immortal Technique - Dance With The Devil Probably the saddest song I've ever heard.

Blarghagh Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 The Shins - Weird Divide ...somehow, I expected more weirdness in this track.
Darth Drabek Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 The Pogues - Sally MacLennane <{POST_SNAPBACK}> One of my favorite verses in one of my favorite Pogues songs. I played the pump and took the hump and watered whiskey down I talked of whores and horses to the men who drank the brown I heard them say that Jimmy's making money far away Some people leave for heaven without warning The Pogues - The Broad Majestic Shannon baby, take off your beret everyone's a critic and most people are DJs

Darth Drabek Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 The Pogues - The Band Played Waltzing Matilda I feel like crying, Drabs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How well I remember that terrible day How the blood stained the sand and the water And how in that hell that they called Suvla Bay We were butchered like lambs at the slaughter Yeah. Yeah, I hear that. I had a history course on WWI back in college, and the prof played the original after we learned about Suvla Bay. He was crying by the end himself. Pogues version is better, I think, 'cause it ol' Shane McGowan sounds pretty damn believable as the vet. baby, take off your beret everyone's a critic and most people are DJs

Darth Drabek Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 To Bring You My Love- PJ Harvey--- the numero uno babe of alt. rock http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pj_harvey <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I saw her open up for U2, what, five years ago? On the tour where they didn't come out of giant lemons or have 5,000 TVs in the arena. Anyway, I didn't know any of her songs, but one refrain stood out. You know how when you see a band about whom you know nothing, and then listen to one of their albums years later and have a weird sense of deja vu. lick my legs, i'm on fire lick my legs, my desire But what can you say about Polly? Nick Cave has excellent taste in women. The Misfits - Ghouls Night Out baby, take off your beret everyone's a critic and most people are DJs

I realized what I was listening to then was good only then. When I bought the album, I stopped listening to it after 3 weeks because I realized it was garbage. Then I went and bought a Garbage album ironically.... although I really want to go see this guy--- Ohio- Neil Young Tin soldiers and Nixon coming, We're finally on our own. This summer I hear the drumming, Four dead in Ohio. words are weightless here on earth because they're free

Galipolli is part of Australian folklore. Regarded as the moment that Australia became a nation in her own right, the people found an identity fighting a war in Europe for the British, that had no other relevance to them. The armed forces cemetary at Gallipoli (called Gelibolu in modern Turkish) is still a site of pilgrimage for Australians today. April 25 is ANZAC Day (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) The last known Gallipoli veteran of any nationality, Alec Campbell of Tasmania, Australia, died in May 2002. For the Fallen With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,England mourns for her dead across the sea. Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of spirit, Fallen in the cause of the free. Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres. There is music in the midst of desolation And a glory that shines upon our tears. They went with songs to the battle, they were young, Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted, They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. They mingle not with laughing comrades again; They sit no more at familiar tables of home; They have no lot in our labour of the day-time; They sleep beyond England's foam. But where our desires are and our hopes profound, Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight, To the innermost heart of their own land they are known As the stars are known to the Night; As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust, Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain, As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness, To the end, to the end, they remain.
