Who else plays EQ2? Reveal your addiction!

I mean... what does everyone think about the game? Should I buy it? Please helped me make an informed purchase.

Thank you.

Fine I'll be serious. This being one of those games you have to pay to play online, I would not get it. That's my personal choice. What I heard from friends is they enjoy playing the game. It's fun adventurous, addicting just an over all good game to have fun with others.

Yes, I just bought EQ2 because my brother loves it, and wnats me to play it. It has broken my refusal of playing MMORPGs too though I don't know if I'm gonna pay after the first month because the controls are absolutely horrible. Great graphics, solid character creation/development, and world history. Plus, with my brother I'm guaranteed to have a party no matter hwat. Sill, the controls are absolutely horrid!!! Seriosuly, I would enjoy the game much more if the controls weren't possibly the worst ever. Hopefully, I'll get used to it within the next month.

P.S. STOP SPYING ON ME AND MY GAMING HABITS!

P.S.S. Soon, you'll notice my habit of playing porno games.

No I used to play the first one a lot but I've not really bothered with any of the more recent MMPORGs.

I have to agree with Volourn.  Bioware is pretty much dead now.  Deals like this kills development studios.

Played the first one (bought it by mistake) for several hours straight: my monk made it to level 5 before I wandered around the humungous city into a dark underground area and was killed, dead, in a single attack by an obviously very-high-level naughty person (and their pet). At this point I was bored with the constant level grinding, uninstalled the game and never touched it again.

I'll probably never play another MMO, I don't like the fact that if the servers ever die you can never play the game again (example: Earth and Beyond)

I have no problem with a Massively Multiplayer Online game, per se, but I am quickly turned off by being a drone trapped in repetitive gameplay ...

I played EQ2 for a little over a month. It's got a lot of neat details. The item variety, collector quests, housing, and all that is really well done. Unfortunately it really is a hardcore grinding game. You grind crafting, you grind levels, and that's the bulk of the game. Also, all the cool content seems only accessible to high level characters. I made it to level 18, but I felt like the locales I was fighting in were pretty generic. It seemed like a serious uphill battle to get to see the cooler zones.

All in all, it's more hardcore than WoW, but that's not necessarily a good thing.

Believe it or not, I asked the store clerk for a game that I had read about in a magazine (which of course I didn't have with me, and I had completely forgotted the name of, and which they didn't have in the stupid store, anyway ) ... and he told me that Everquest was the game I described. I wanted to buy the first Dungeon Seige. >_<

You bought the better game. You should thank him. :p

And, I say that without ever playing EQ1, and while disliking MMORPGs in general. :)

I dunno, I played the demo (Dungeon Seige II it might have been) and it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Everquest.

After playing City of Heroes, Puzzle Pirates, Eve: Online, and World of Warcraft, I'm completely burnt out on MMOGs. With the exception of Puzzle Pirates, everything else seems to be grind, grind, grind. Paying $10-15 a month to take a second job working for video game items? No thanks.

The idea of having to schedule time and team up to grind dungeons with 39 monkey's in WoW was disturbing enough, I've heard raids are even bigger and more emphasized in the Everquests too. Laaaame.

What a shank. Did you ever have the chance to play Dungeon Seige? If not... this is a tragedy of Shakespearian proportions.

Shakespeare would indeed be pleased with the scope of this particular narrative, as I have never played either Dungeon Seige.

Actually I think he was more moronic than malevolent.

Sounds like a duel is in order. Or some cross-dressing... as was the style of the time.

Incidentally, which vendor was this?

I couldn't possibly say."
