ShadowPaladin V1.0
"Abdul Rahman, a 44-year-old father of two, was arrested after telling local police, whom he approached on an unrelated matter, that he had converted to Christianity. Reports say he was carrying a Bible at the time. (Watch how the convert explained his conversion -- 1:17) The Afghan constitution, which is based on Sharia, or Islamic law, says that apostates can receive the death penalty". One suggested solution is that he plead insanity. Suprisingly , this didn't go down too well with American christian groups. http://edition.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/...tian/index.html Edited March 22, 2006 by ShadowPaladin V1.0 I have to agree with Volourn. metadigital
Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from a religious conviction. - Blaise Pascal With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion. - Steven Weinberg 1979 Nobel Physics Laureate. Llyranor
Apparently the Afghan government is trying to pass some law for freedom of religion, but it hasn't been approved yet, so the Islamic thingiemabob still applies at this point. Laozi
I would think that anyone following one of the major religions would have pretty good grounds to plead insanity on just about any charge. People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair. Not quite true. The Constitution actually has a 'freedom of religion' mandate... but, the problem is, that the consitution also has a mandate that makes conversion to non Muslim religions illegal and punishable by the death penalty.. That's the law he was arrested under. LOL DRAMA! DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
