I am afraid I do not go out and buy the latest video card whenever a new one comes out.

But I do need a new one, mine is a couple of years old. :)

Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

The real question is whether this means that the previous 'state of the art' tech will be getting cheaper...

On a side note, this spreading RLY obsession is disturbing.

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

It would be much wiser to at least try and buy PC hardware that's remotely comparable to hardware found in the Xbox 360 and PS3. Getting "previous 'state of the art' tech" may prove to be counter productive, if you're trying to get more of out the immersive aspect that higher quality graphics provide. :)

foof. I'd rather pay rent and eat for a month.

OOOOOOOOOOO SNAP! NO YOU DIDN'T! I SAID NO YO DIDN'T!

edit: nVidia's 7600 GT sounds like a good value

I checked out a few reviews of the 7900 and it seems it's about as strong as the X1900. It wins some and it loses some. I guess it doesn't matter which brand you choose if you are going for the absolute best the market has to offer.

I also liked the look of the 7600 though. Great value for money and it could even hold its own in games like FEAR at high resolutions. Impressive.

Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!

I am suffering because of my "lovely" agp main board. Dammit!

Except ATi drivers suck.

I haven't had any problems with them on my system. Frankly I have had a fairly stable system with my ATI card than I did with my NVidia card.

Already a member." Haven't had any problem with either my GF or Radeon, but maybe I'm just not looking hard enough.

Well except for that overheating problem with the radeon. Cleaned all the dust out of the fan and it worked great for another week then started overheating again. After awhile it went back to normal on it's own without my having changed anything.

I had a lot of problems with my Geforce card when I had more than one screen connected to it (driver problem, had to go back all the way to like.. 30.XX something). Since I switched to ATI I haven't had one single problem except that the shadows in Battlefield 2 looks like tiny triangles if you look at them closely.

Useless brand loyalty for teh win.

I'm not brand loyal to nVidia, I've just had horrible experiences with ATi cards, ranging from horrible drivers, to horrible tech support.

I am going back to nVidia. ATI is alright but I have had a few problems with them which I didn't have with nVidia cards.

I've had my fair share of good and bad ATi experiences. I've been lucky to get a somewhat stable performance in most games with my X800 Pro but then some things just bring it down. I still can't play my copy of Half-Life 2 without it overheating to the point of forcing the PC to restart itself. Sid Meier's Pirates! also suffered from a handful of lockups and overheating schisms. On the other hand I've only had Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas share similar problems once and I've been playing non stop for a couple of days.

Ati doesn't have digital vibrance.

GeForce doesn't have AA support for Shader Level 3.

Shame on you for continuing to get HDR and SM3 mixed up!
