I wonder why some people think Hero is a horrible martial arts flick. Maybe the sad ending didn't appeal to the male fans, but I liked it. Reminded me of Gladiator and Maximus.

No, they will take the stick and shove it down his throat into the stomach, and leave him to a long and painful death.

Just kidding :D . The emperor from Hero was actually quite ruthless, and the real assassins (Jet Li and his buddies never existed) are all hailed as heroes though they all failed in their attempt.
