mkreku
By the way, has anyone heard anything about Dan Blackburn recently? Apparently he's hurt a nerve in his left shoulder and can't use a glove on his glovehand side. Instead he's let someone make a blocker glove (not sure what it's called in english, but it's the same glove as the goalie usually holds the stick with) for both his hands! He still wants to play in the NHL but I'm not sure it's possible to do that, considering he can't hold on to the puck as easily as other goalies. Not holding onto the puck must generate a lot more scoring chances for the other team, right? Rebounds galore. Anyhow, I found a picture of Dan in his new equipment which might better explain what I meant: Weird. Kor Qel Droma
Thats an unfortunate story. I remember the Rangers calling him up as an 18 year old and throwing him to the Wolves for a 20 game stretch or so. At least he's showing more heart than Keith Tkachuk. Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
mkreku
Good to see Datsyuk back in the NHL! Wrong team (the Leafs needed you, Pavel.. whyyyy??) but still, he's spectacular to watch. Now.. If only they could get Kovalchuk to sign too, the NHL would be complete. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Kor Qel Droma
I'm watching the Rangers/Islanders game right now. The Isles went up three nil in the first five minutes but the Rangers have since scored and are on a 5 on 3 powerplay as we speak... Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie. Kor Qel Droma
I was watching the Detroit/Colorado game tonight before Lost and who do I see in the first intermission interview? Rem Murray! He played in the opener too I guess. Its nice to see him on his feet. And Dan Cleary was playing for the Wings. It seems like just about every team in the league has an ex oiler or two on it (but what else is new?) Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie. alanschu
Good to see Datsyuk back in the NHL! Wrong team (the Leafs needed you, Pavel.. whyyyy??) but still, he's spectacular to watch. Can you blame him Hemsky had a great game by the sounds of it against Vancouver, and wowsers did Peca ever roof an amazing breakaway. By that ability alone he's already way better than Marchant :D Getting geeked up for the season. My roommate and I even subscribed to cable, just for the sports stations. And I also have tickets to the game on the 21st against Colorado. GOOOOO OILERS!
Kor Qel Droma
I caught the third period of the Oilers/Canucks game on the internet. It sounds like the Edmonton/ Vancouver rivalry is getting heated already. It was dissapointing to me to find Sidney Crosby all over the news this morning when the more important facts should have been Patrice Bergeron and Sergei Gonchar racking up seven points between themselves. And the Adam Deadmarsh saga has finally come to an end, I guess... http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/article.jsp...922_103004_5196 Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie. alanschu
Poor Adam. Must suck to be finally coming into your own in the big leagues only to have things cut short due to injury.
Judas
Poor Adam. Must suck to be finally coming into your own in the big leagues only to have things cut short due to injury. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was at the game in Vancouver when Jovo KO'd Deadmarsh in a scrap...brutal fight. Yeah, it's too bad because he definitely could have continued to be a solid player if not for the concussion problems.
Judas
Oh and I'm sure most of you heard how Tkachuk was suspended for showing up overweight to training camp. Here's a recent pic of him skating with the team.

Hurlshort
C'mon, Tkachuk looks awesome in that picture! Now he's a real power forward. If they can roll him in front of the net, the goalie won't see a thing.
Kor Qel Droma
Sounds like the Oil have been put down by the Flames tonight. That blows monkey balls. At least Shawn Horcoff laid the smack down on Stephan Yelle. And at least we won the worthless shootout. Edited September 24, 2005 by Kor Qel Droma Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie. Delta Truth
WoW Looks like a good preview for the regular season battle of Alberta Finally!! Brent Krahn performed better than any other game he's played Eric Nystrom is looking good too but I think they will send him to the farm for one more season Man Phaneuf seems to be the real deal he will be an all star in a few years
Kor Qel Droma
How old is Tony Amonte now, anyway? Is he in his forties yet? I picked him in my last hockey pool when he went to play in Phoenix. I figured 'hey, he'll be the big fish in the little pond'. Man was I a sucker. I don't think he'll ever put up the points like he did with the Blackhawks. Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
Delta Truth
Oh Well then he will look even better when he's scoring on the oilers
alanschu
Amonte was a Flyer. I think Langkow was the Phoenix guy you're thinking of. Amonte's not THAT old, and he has great hands. You don't lose those with age. I suspect he'll have a good season this year with Iginla.
Kor Qel Droma
Okay well here's the throwdown on Amonte: He was born in 1970, which is only a couple of years before me, so I guess I shouldn't call him that old. Delta Truth
Well those stats show that Amonte has been pretty consistent over his career and he will indeed be playing lots of minutes with Iginla that certainly can't hurt your stats I would be confident for him to score 25-30 goals easily

Hurlshort
I just went to the Sharks game and watched them beat the Ducks 6-5. It was a pretty exciting game. I saw Federov a few times, and the Sharks had their core teamout quite a bit. Oh yeah, Giguerre got lit up for 6 goals in the first 2 periods. He looks really bad, but he wasn't getting stellar defense and there were 4 powerplay goals. Those two line passes are pretty amazing too. Everything was great except my $8 cheeseburger. Kor Qel Droma
I've been watching a few preseason games so far (today had three games in a row) and I have to say with all the penalties the flow of the game is quite off. I like the end to end action, but it doesn't seem to be happening quite as much as a person would expect. And I think my fantasy pool line is going to be Heatley, Spezza and that other dude they have on the wing. Talk about chemistry... Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie. alanschu
The penalties are a necessary evil. If they stop blowing the whistle, then nothing gets changed.
