eXtortion
I DEMAND ALL SHALL GO TO #purepazaak AT GAMESURGE SERVER. A small explanation: Download mIRC from http://mirc.com/get.html and install it. If you wish to find a more detailed explanation on how to install it, go to http://mirc.com/install.html once installed write "/server gamesurge" (without quotation marks) to connect to the gamesurge server. then write "/join #purepazaak" (again without the marks) in order to join the purepazaak channel. once in channel, chatting is quite intuitive, simply write a line/word/whatever you wish to write and press enter. an alternative way is to use a java web-based applet, which can be found at http://gamesurge.net/chat/ from there you only need to do "/join #purepazaak" to get in, however this applet is more limited in some ways. But if this is the first time you enter the IRC it'll probably be enough. Edited October 14, 2005 by eXtortion

dufflover
Welcome to the boards! My graphics are white, the cards black, and there is no display pictures or detail or indicators except the score and neccesary game buttons. I downloaded both of the support files and saved them to my pure pazaak folder. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Post a screenshot of it looks like, although I think it'll look similar to the problems people had earlier with no graphics (go through the previous pages in this thread to check). I take it you're running Windows XP. Ok, the most likely cause is that you don't have some other VB/Windows component which the program uses so I'll see what I can dig up (although it's Uni Exam time so it might be a few weeks ...) I downloaded both of the support files and saved them to my pure pazaak folder Have you remembered to extract the files as well . If you have, try putting the comctl32.ocx file into the Windows System32 folder instead. Hope this will get it working, Edited November 6, 2005 by dufflover Pure Pazaak - The Stand-alone Multiplayer Pazaak Game (link to Obsidian board thread) Pure Pazaak website (big thank you to fingolfin)
dufflover
Version v1.1.3 released: - Feature: The last proposed network wager is now saved- Feature: Network Arcade - network games in Arcade mode (all cards, no changes to player info) - Fix: The "double-turn" network bug which occurs after a player stands seems fixed - Fix: Tried to improve the detection of the "/quit" and "/disconnect" commands Basically fixes the double-turn network bug, and adds Arcade mode into network play. As with my shotty programming there'll probably be some obvious bug after fixing and putting in the new features so be on the look out! Mind you I don't think many people play multiplayer but eh well, at least it'll work properly most of the time now. Edit: pasted messages together oh with regards to that Network Arcade mode, you set it by clicking on the button next to the Start button once a connection is established. It should start on K1 Blue "Normal Mode" but the HOST can click on it and the button will change to K2 Green "Arcade Mode" and to change back just click again. If a player has already hit "Start" to a particular mode and the host changes it, the Start button will reset and you will no longer "be ready". dufflover
Firstly with the suggestion of custom portraits, the situation is still the same where transferring files is possible over the connection but I have no friggin idea how. However an alternate I've been thinking of is a sort of manual override system where if you have an image file in a new folder like "custom" which matches your player name (or store the image file name into the player file) it loads and shows that picture instead of the ingame one. In a network game, if the other player does not have your image file in their custom folder then it will show the inbuilt portrait you've chosen, so basically you have to manually send them your pic? How does this sound? Also, I'm thinking of filling up the gap in the Campaign screen with one more AI opponent and I want to let you fans contribute to it, mainly the best deck possible. So if you have a super deck which you want to suggest then post away. You can also post a character you want to have it as, although try to make it a realistic Pazaak player. Anyway, I was suprised never made a portrait out of the Bastila on the box front cover/art. dufflover
Bug in v1.1.3 There's a bug with the Arcade mode where your deck configuration will always be the same as your Single-Player Arcade configuration (ie, the card config screen in a Network Arcade screen is useless). Temp. Fix: I'm not sure if this works as a temp workaround but configure your deck in normal arcade mode and play a quick game so it saves, then your network arcade deck will be that deck. This has been fixed for v1.1.4 release, whenever that is... dprski33
I have installed pure pazaak (v1.13) at home and work. Both computers are running windows 2000 (5.00.2195). The one at home runs great, but hte one at work gives me "run-time error 429". I have downloaded the files from the download section at the website and VB 6.0 from Microsoft, but I still get the error. Please suggest. ~D

dufflover
yes, i have full access to the machine itself, .... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmm ok... I've thought of a couple of possibilities, although the first one is more related to access permissions which you have : - There's an error when it tries to install/check the fonts or create a new (player) file - Do you have DirectX 8 or higher installed on it? I'm running out of ideas... dufflover
Version v1.1.4 Released - Feature: Added the 3rd Bastila portrait from the K1 box art- Feature: Added ability to display Custom portraits via an override system - Feature: Added game speed option for those people who think it's *still* too slow - Fix: Fixed top text bar of the K2 Select Cards screen Since the custom picture thing is probably the most wanted and needs most explaining I'll quickly go through the other things first: - this new version needs a full redownload again cos the Bastila pic and the K2 Select Cards background fix are stored in the data file. - the speed setting has no effect in a network match (default: Normal) Can we insert our own picture? I wanna see how well TK-151 plays pazaak. And I'm pretty certain Darth Vader could win a few games One thing that would be nice is being able to add your own custom picture for your player. eXtortion
As I said on the PM the channel is OPEN #purepazaak @ GameSurge ! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's referring to an IRC channel. If you don't know what IRC is then a simple Google or whatever search should get you the basics which is all you need. I don't know much about IRC myself but what I do know is that IRC is the perfect game lobby. IRC has all those file transfer and other stuff I know nothing about but the basic use is that it's a chat room which supports private/direct chats and a list of the people currently in the channel. Heh, I don't even have mIRC installed. Edit Step-by-step of what eXtortion says below (does not install mIRC): 1. Go to: www.gamesurge.net/chat/ (requires Java) 2. When it loads you'll automatically connect to GameSurge - let it finish. 3. Type into the command thingy: /nick nickname , where nickname is your desired nickname. 4. Type: /join #purepazaak to join the channel 5. If you join and no one is there, I urge you to stay there if you can incase someone else comes along 6. Let's say there's a bunch of people connected. To announce that you're free to play a match, just type the chat message and press Enter. 7. What you want to do now will vary, but to let's say you want start a private chat session to respond to someone's offer (and tell them your details like your or their IP, etc). Double-click their name from the list of people and a new chat window will appear in the Private taskbar section. 8. Organise and play! You can copy and paste the commands. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Please come to the IRC Chat Room, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE I BEG !

dufflover
I see we still don't have our strip pazaak. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You know there is one possibility but I don't anyone would be bothered with the all the image work... Basically I could modify it so you got 4 pictures as 4 states of no losses to 3 losses. So using the duffman.pzk filename example again, could have 4 images duffman.jpg, duffman1.jpg, duffman2.jpg, duffman3.jpg. Start of showing duffman.jpg then when you lose a set go to the next one, then the next, etc. Pure Pazaak - The Stand-alone Multiplayer Pazaak Game (link to Obsidian board thread) Pure Pazaak website (big thank you to fingolfin)
Petay
Great game Dufflover, only just re-downloaded it a couple minutes ago, and playing through campaign, although i found one strange thing happen when i was playing. While i was playing, i pressed stand on 19, the opponent then had their turn, used up all their cards, then ended up with 13. It then said "You have been defeated" This can't be right? This never happened on KotOR, unless there is something i am missing... EDIT: It just happened again, but this time the opponent got 16, whereas i got 20! Just a tad unfair... Alleyviper7
I seem to have found a bug in this program. Whenever I mute a sound and then play a game, I always recieve the following error when trying to access the options menu again: Runtime error '380':Invalid property value If, however, I create a new character and leave all the sounds on, I never get this error (but who doesn't get sick of the card flipping sounds after about 5 seconds? ) Edited December 9, 2005 by Alleyviper7

Surprising how i have never noticed that rule before playing your version of the game, was it in the KotOR's? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, it wasn't. It makes sense that it should work that way, but the actual games did not include that rule. I know this because it happened to me a few times in the game and the first couple of times I was expecting the comp to win because of that, but it didn't. I have a question, how do I play multiplayer? It's not in the readme.
BattleCookiee
It's a rule new in Kotor2 In Kotor1 nine cards is a loss. In kotor2 a win (if it is under 20, above is still a loss) They did this to give some purpose to the gold "reverse cards"
