I'm sorry, I just have humorous memories about a Focus on the Family video about the dangers of teh pr0n. They showed it at a mandatory abstincence-ed assembly at the Christian School I went to as a youth. It was amusing hearing him say that he went from a good Christian lad, to a stock raving mad rapist/serial killer, and James Dobson agreeing wholeheartedly with him because it supported his agenda.

I just read that Gamespot article (a bit late, I know)...

Is something like that Thompson guy really allowed to move around unsupervised, like without his legal guardian or anything ? :p

The guys isn't for real, is he ?

the Dean of SciFi Eru? you refering to the born again mormon Scott-Card?

Yeah I find it funny that State Of Emergancy didn't get much of an uprising when the entire basis of the game was just to slaughter who you could. Including police authoritys. But when there's a user made mod depicting sex (this will happen in every game now I bet, Even super mario cart if they could get their hands on it) there will be outrage.

From what I understand, it's completely opposite in Europe.  They don't mind sex, but have more social concern for violent media.

Yep. Also SA was 18+ from the beginning, and thus no problem because of some "Hot Coffee"... They even checked if you were 18 before selling it in the stores.

It would be interesting to see stats comparing which has more violence-related incidents among teenagers.

Lower than in the US, alot lower. Also less acts of rape here...

It was quite a shock 3 years ago when suddenly a teacher got shot over here, while it is "common" in the US already.

Well now all the Xboxers can play the lagest videogame scandal. They be releasing it soon/now, I know old news. If parents are really that uppity about that why don't they just lock away the PS2 or other game system. Or be really annoying like my parents and limit how much time a child can play his computer games, watch TV and Internet (this was until I turned 15)

I'll never understand the sort of stigma associated with sex in amerikaland.

Yet the game has only been given a higher rating in the US, while being banned outright in Australia. I never thought of the Australians as particularly prudish, but it just depends on who manages to sneak which silly law through parliament. It was always rated 18 here in the UK, which is why it hasn't attracted so much publicity.

Is that so? Just goes to show, I guess.

What's funny is I'm not fat. In fact, I'm skinny. Though I am as healthy as cna be. Outside of being very ugly, and the common cold once in the blue moon I simply don't get sick."
