If Obsidian were to make a handheld game (DS or PSP) I'd probably be urged to buy one of those damn things. Especially the PSP looks pretty slick.

I really hope they never try the mobile phone market though. In the last course I took at the university we had a guest lecture from a guy who worked in a mobile phone game company. He explained how they worked, how the phones work and how the SDK's for the different phones worked. Apparently the phones are full of undocumented bugs, weird occurances and horrible design decisions. Writing one game took like.. 3 weeks. Testing it and making sure it worked on 800 different phones took 3 months.

Why does this not surprise me in the least?

If Obsidian does get into the handheld game market, hopefully it's way down the line when they've already established themselves with 5 or 6 titles under their belt.

I fully agree.

I'm ready for my second game now. :D :D :D

We know their second game is not a handheld, and by all accounts PNJ isn't. But hopefully their 4th, 5th and 6th or so aren't either.

Keep churning out those PC cRPGs and I'll keep spending my money. Deal?

I wouldn't say a handheld has too small a screen for an RPG.

Graphics don't matter as much in an RPG, so small screens are fine. The DS also may be best suited for an RPG since the second screen can be used for inventory and messages at all times.

The GBA already has quite a few good RPGs actually.
