The Illuminator Posted June 23, 2005 Author Posted June 23, 2005 Yo, Onur; learn to make starting messages rational. I rather doubt you did anything else than check your player list. Listing all bands you've ever listened doesn't count. As for my favorites: I'd start with the amazing At the Gates and Edge of Sanity; new wave of swedish death extraordinaries. Newer melodeath is worthless when compared to these two giants. Then again; I don't compare. Finnish folk/black metal deserves a mention; it's rather original; rather inbred when it comes to members, but still fresh. Moonsorrow, Finntroll and a few others being the best. Off we go to yankees; thunderous Nile, grandfather Slayer and nearly original Sepultura(yeah, Braz, I know). Especially Nile holds a high place among my favorite death/thrash bands. Yeah, I mix them rather often. Other genres rock too. I like Manhattan Transfer, Chigaco Transit, Orphaned Land, APOCALYPTICA(!), ELP, The Nice, Glittertind(folk/punk). Gregorian covers, Within Temptation, Tchaikovski, Sibelius, Merikanto and a few other classic authors, some jungle and a few noise artists. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've not listed all the bands above that I've ever listened to. As I've said at the intro of my post, those above r my fav bands of all times. I'm 25'n so I think I'm old enough to have such a big list of fav bands. I know the styles, music'n albums of all of the bands above. If u want I can count'eir styles startin from Opeth bein a band movin btw the sounds of doom/death/heavy metal'n soft rock and Therion or Haggard bein opera metal bands. I can also count'eir best'n worst albums. All in all I'm not a fool listing his playlist to attract some attention on this site. I'm certainly not a guy of that type, so I know how to start a thread as I've got enough xps from some other sites The Illuminator Democracy starts with allowing different political opinions to express themselves. HaPhApAbLaP Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 if you like Opeth you should most deffinetly check out the band Novembre

Musopticon? Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 I didn't mean that. I've been to a few dozen music/band forums and meant that most new listeners just make the typical listing post when threads like these come up. Good to see you know your ****. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Arkan Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 The Eagles "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta
alanschu Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Pearl Jam U2 Foo Fighters Audioslave That's all I can come up with at the moment. I like a lot of bands, but I'm not sure if I'd consider them my "favourites" or not.
The.Donut Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 At this precise moment the only band I could say that is my favorite of all time would have to be Empyrium, especially their last album Weiland. It's superb. Another band worthy of mention is Agalloch, their album The Mantle is a masterpiece. Oh yes, perhaps not one of my favorite bands (if you take into account the entire discography) but definately worth mentioning is Burzum's album Hvis Lyset Tar Oss.
Kaftan Barlast Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 I hate music, I just pretend to listen to it to appear normal. I can stand some music though, preferably very minimalistic electronic music where a single sine tone is held for maybe 30 seconds before it switches frequency. I like that. REM, Deerhoof, The Waifs, Blur, Travis, Pink Floyd, Billy Joel, BoA, The Chromatics, Tom Lehrer, Harry and the Potters, Bob Ricci, and Weird Al. Especially Harry and The Potters, they're like the best band evar. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Someone else listens to the Waifs? I really dig them. Mainly I listen to: Pearl Jam Tool A Perfect Circle REM Audioslave Rage Against the Machine Soundgarden Stone Temple Pilots Temple of the Dog, etc. etc. I also listen to some bands you've likely never heard of such as: Pomeroy Bright Eyes The Faint Azure Ray Achondo Blue Moon Ghetto Blue October Grasshopper Takeover Lovetap

Their first two albums r favs for Empyrium though. The musical change btw heavy meatl and death/doom was great. If u like bands whose sounds ranges from death/doom/heavy metal and soft rock in the same song, try OPeth's ''blackawater park'' album as first two albums of Empyrium and the general style of Opeth is quite similar The Illuminator Democracy starts with allowing different political opinions to express themselves.
