the organic part was not as good as the rest, but the ending movie I liked very much. But I won't spoil it here.

Just make sure you can play it on your system first, so you don't get dissapointed.  Then go out and buy it as soon as you can

Why wouldn't it work? I've got DirectX9.0c and this requires DirectX6.0 !

It's not compatible with windows xp... I can't play it any more. But I've heard some people who can, even with xp. So I wonder if it has anything to do with my videocard (radeon x800pro)

There are some fanmade patches to make it run under xp, but I still can't play it, even with those patches. :(

I'm kind of confused about this...

New thread wins the old thread!

edit: Also, Zagor, I hate you for making me want to play SS2 again. As a sidenote, any North Europeans here who want to play SS2 COOP?

edit 2: Also, Zagor, I'd point and laugh at your condition, if not for the fact that you would be a potential candidate for SS2 COOP if you could run the damn game.

That's an offer you can't refuse. FO 1 and 2 are classics. But tactics was kind of dissapointing. I actually own that package myself.

I got my System Shock 2 to work under Windows XP by opening a command window, changing to the CD-drive and typing: setup -lgntforce. This, at least, starts the installer. From there on it worked fine for me. I have not tried it after installing Service Pack 2 though.

And I would love to play it in co-op some day! Even with a finn..

By the way, great mods for System Shock 2:

It's got a 4-6 week lead time, though. <_<

I always thought Tactics kinda-sorta got a raw deal. I know the NMA crowd hated it because it had a lot of bad continuity and for some reason the voice overs were just terrible (R. Lee Ermey in particular). It also may have misadvertised itself to the core FO fanbase when it came out (I have no idea). But the actual gameplay (real time at least) wasn't bad at all and provided a lot of slack to play with the SPECIAL system.

Well it had a lot to live upto and the cardinal sin which it wasnt an RPG. But personally I enjoyed the combat aspect of it far more than I ever did FO which I sort of tolerated because the rest of it was so good.

Of course as a tactical combat/strategy game dosnt live upto Xcom or JA2 because it lacks those further levels of management. But my biggest "niggle" with FOT WHY THE BLOODY HELL DO I HAVE TO CLEAN UP THE BATTLE FIELD AND THEN SELL OFF EVERYTHING> !!!!!!! <sorry bout that>. If there was ever a case for not putting in an RPG type inventory into a game where you could end up picking up 100's of items after battle FOT was it.

I have to agree with Volourn.  Bioware is pretty much dead now.  Deals like this kills development studios.

I agree it wasn't a bad game (FOT). I finished it, and had a good time doing so. I would give it perhaps 70% in a review...

Perhaps I was expecting something more similar to the other fallouts...

Well you went one better than me then. Hoovering up the battlefield drove me to distraction after a while and since a new game came out later that week I moved on.

I played it a few times since but never really with the goal to finish it.

Splendid! If all things go well (I find my copy of SS2, I succesfully install it on SP2), you should be expecting to see "Game On: System Shock 2" thread real soon.

Well I've heard of Planetside and I've heard of Torment....

I've never heard of PlanetSide:Torment tho  :-"

:-" :D :thumbsup::thumbsup::p

Planetfall was the infocom game where you had to restart the hibernating civilization with the help of a (cute) little robot pal that you find there.

Baley, when are you going to review a game?

Favorite game for me would be Grim Fandango.

If you can get past the initial akwardness caused by the whole 3D thing, it's a very rewarding experience.

May not be the best game in the world, but it's one that I look back on with fond memories......

"I tried the most potent Noise Amplification spell once upon a time. Mavellous spell. I could hear the birds speaking to one another in trees over the horizon, I could hear the rustlings as the clouds rubbed against each other in the sky. I could hear the sound a rainbow makes as it arches it's back over the world. Then a dog barked behind me and I burst my left eardrum."

When I get some free time....

An actual review of Blader Runner will be posted when I get all 6 endings..this week I hope...

PS:still wrong " ,haven't heard of Planetscape either

System Shock 2 was a remarkable game. I bought it about 2 years ago because many people had a high opinion about it and I was even lucky enough to get it running under Win XP SP 1 but don't ask how because I didn't either. Lucky me even found the graphical improvements Mreku posted earlier so I never experienced the game in its old incarnation but with sharp high-res textures and beautifully modelled enemies, plus a mod that supposedly balanced the gameplay.

I'm 25 years old now and I think that it is difficult to truly scare me but SS2 managed to create feelings of danger which I never experienced before or after. I don't mean the kind of fear you get from a good horror flick but a deep concern for your own safety with your instincs dangerously trying to overtake your rational thinking. The game's atmosphere was often so dense that I couldn't bear to play it any further without a break. Itl succeded roleplaying-wise not in offering you many dialogues or customization for your character but making you feel the same horror.

I'm still torn whether I want to play such game again in my life. On the one hand it offers high production and design values rarely encountered in this quality but on the other hand it's so unsettling that I sometimes became physically uncomfortable and I felt my psyche was stressed out to the extreme.

Everyone who can handle FPS controls and likes survial horror should try the game at least once.

Ditto.

As for my review; check the Favorite Game World-thread. I can't be arsed to write almost the same thing here. Gameplay is a minor thing in a game so focused on atmophere anyway.

The Ultima series was the first series of games that I truly fell in love with. Despite UO, and U9, I still really love that series.

Most RPGs up to that point were D&D rip offs, and rogue clones. They were number games with little story.

Ultima games offered up a whole new world to me and changed the way we think about gaming. Ultima IV turned the industry on it's head with gameplay that didn't involve beating a boss, or gaining EXP. The game was about moral decisions.

Imagine that.

Yet, I feel the two great gems in the series are V and VII.
