well again .. that depends .. more effecient at what? Men are better at judging distance and calculating! (and all things hunting related) .. women are better at socialising and emotinal involved problems (controlling a group) ..

If that's not proof that men should not be allowed into politics or organized religion I don't know what is. :p

we are still carrying our stone-age brains .. and since humans evovled into that period and haven't really evovled since, those problems that were present then, are what we are made for!

if you scan a womens brain you will see more activity(effiecency)

Also if you beleive in evolution, they are better(or worse lol) w/ emotions beacuse they eveolved themselves by careing for their children.

A good argument, though in my experience Women in power aren't much better we had our own leader, Maggie Thatcher. She single handedly destroyed the concept of community in Britain and crippled the power of workers to challenge the governemnt.

Plus she raised the kind of son who throws around money to buy rebel factions attack helicopters 'without thinking to check where it is going to be spent'.

Personally I think all our political and religion decisions should be made by the people in my radiator.

Oh, Maggie Thatcher was a disaster. I couldn't help but snickering when I saw her weeping in the back of the limo after her cronies had stabbed her in the back.

Of course, England hasn't really improved too much. Privatization of the railroads happened during Blair, right?

When it comes to the religious aspect of this nice little conversation, there's a funny little thing I've noticed. Many of the Americans (I assume they are Americans) seem to be under the impression that if you are a Baptist, you belong to a different religion than, say, a person who considers himself a Quaker or the like. It's funny because, they are all Christians. As if there was a division like the Jew-Christian or Jew-Muslim division between the groups.

I mean, there are some people here that don't seem to consider Catholics Christian in the same way that Lutherans are Christians. It's odd, because if you are a Lutheran Christian, one would think that that person would respect the Pope for much of what he stands for, if not all. Instead, it seems like there's a bit of "**** that old wheezer!", when essentially his values are the same as your own.

It just goes to show that we all have our individual mindsets, I guess, ad we always think our own ideas are the best. you could draw a link from that again, to the arguments of Nur Ab Sal, that he can't believe there's reason in Christianity because of the atrocities commited by its followers. They made their decisions as you make yours, God didn't whisper in their ears to make them turn the Middle East upside down.

That goes for George W. Bush, for that matter.

Anyway, it's all in the hermeneutics, (is that an English word?) I guess.

Anyway, when it comes to the Divine Feminine, it's something that is all very "trendy" right now. Dan Brown and all that.

EDIT: Wow, that's a lot of lines saying absolutely nothing. My excuse? It's four AM, I am bored, and I do not wish to spend another second with my term paper.

You're not very knowledgeable on this aspect are you?

Hate to break this discussion with which sex has the larger brain or the more efficient brain but it seems the pope has died. I guess we need another Timmy.

Now see what you did Nur?

Honestly. I can't say i think he changed a lot, and however it was worded, yes the standing on contraception is ridiculous, AND dangerous.  And frankly the concept of a man who has never HAD sex giving advice and diktats to the masses about how they should conduct themselves in an adult realationship is patently absurd.

Never knew about the CIA communism link, though it would not surprise me.

I was brought up as a Catholic, I lapsed many years ago, but one of the things that stuck in my mind was when everyone used to take communion, my mum never went. I asked her one day and she told me that it was because she had been divorced before, and that meant she was not allowed to take part. Basically she is excommunicated.

Then many years later when i was old enough she told me WHY she had been divorced.

She''d married a wife beater. for years she put up with it like a good catholic wife. then she split. For leaving him she is supposedly cut off from her 'God'

If he wanted to do ONE good thing in his life he could at least have overturned such a ridiculous and patently misogynistic standing of the catholic church.

this is one of many reasons why I do not listen to men in pointy hats for spiritual advice. to paraphrase Bill Hicks 'There is a LIVING God in each and everyone of Us, who will talk DIRECTLY to you. No middle man required.'

I realise this may go against the grain of many of your most heartfelt beleifs and for that I am sorry, but I cannot simply disregard the foolish adherence to dogma that is displayed by many western religions

However. I don't wish it to seem i wanted him to suffer, frankly I think they spent far too much time keeping an old sick man from his long overdue rest. his last few weeks can't have been easy for him.

That's funny but your reasons for being an atheist are also mine. Besides I can't simply believe in something that wasn't proved for 2000 years. I can believe in WWII, cause we have evidence, but what church teaches may be the same science fiction as jedi religion or dune bene gesserit beliefs. My mind is too serious to give a credit in so important thing as life after death. And yet billions are ready to kill and persecute in the name of their religion although it was never proved that it is more true than other religions (that say virtually same stuff :ermm: )

There has to be something truth to religion since many of the different religions are so similar. In my opinion people just have different ways of acknowledging it. A person's religion has to do with their lifestyle and what accomadates into it but most have the same morals.

Most archaic religions are patriarchal in nature and that is why they are quite irrelevant, or soon will be, in today's society. And good riddance to them to.

my religion is women .. treat them like a godess and you will get all the happiness you need for a lifetime!

I t6hink you're over estimating women there, I mean its not like you can commit to an action and really predict the reaction. The most important thing in communicating with women is throwing all reason out the window and try not anticipate anything, just know that whatever happens its either your fault, or if things go well tell her about how it would have never have happen without her hand guiding it.

As for the Pope. I personally don't have much contact with practicing Catholics and the ones I do know are breeding like rabbits. Theres really no excuse for the way the Vatican handled the whole Priest gone wild thing and my friend Skylar being a victum of this, makes me find it all the more distasteful.

Isn't this the last Pope that Nostradamus listed, perhaps my reign of fire will begin soon.

People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.

Last time I heard anything about it, Nostradamus didn't have a clue what he was talking about. Most of the so-called predictions I've seen "happen" so far are either blatantly false (the thing that supposedly predicted the fall of the WTC twin towers) or described in terms so broad that it'd be hard not to be correct (such as saying "there will be a great war", which is a fairly safe prediction since, historically speaking, there is a great war whenever someone with more power than he should have gets bored).

Edit: Actually, he did know what he was talking about. That doesn't mean he knew anything about the future, though, only that he was good at guessing.

Wasn't saying all religion is lies, just that those running them are questionable. rather.

you will find no truth in dogma. It is the institutions I have no time for, for all I care they might as well be telling me God is a blue alien who lives in the walls and eats his own navel hair, and if I don't crawl on my belly thanking him for all the navel fluff he deigns to throw on my carpet I will have to sit with my nose in the corner of the room for the rest of eternity.

If you want proof of how questionable religious doctrine is, look up the Apocrypha. The Book of Enoch explains why there was supposed to be a flood, it explains why the fallen angels fell, it explains why Hell was created. Why is it Apocrypha and not accepted by the church?

because it also goes on about giants running rampant around the planet causing havoc and killing humans. Google it. book of enoch you can find it in pdf form all over the place.

YOU are your own God, or Goddess, whatever it is you feel an affinity to in yourself, and YOU know what you feel is right and wrong. Heaven and Hell are concepts invented by people trying to scare you into sticking to their party line.

If anything Heaven and Hell are just states of mind.

Plus... Prophets... Ever noticed how EVERY one of them went off into the wilderness for '40 days and 40 nights' befopre meeting 'God'.

I challenge anhy one of you to bugger off in the middle of nowhere for 40 days and 40 nights and NOT meet God

We ALL have the power to find divinity within ourselves, and to express it in our own way, that is why we are here. 'God' 'Goddess' the 'Great Architect' ' 'Buddha' 'Allah' isn't 'up there.. it is everything. all matter all energy. all existence sentient and non sentient life and death. It is you and me, every last one of you. we are all living life out in a subjective examining of ourself.

WE are god.

Of course that is just my opinion.

This makes a very good point. People will beleive sometimes what they want too. and it can get scarey when they make something come true, or they distort the words. This is so for the bible also.

Acc to nostradamus World War III is supposed to begin in 2011 and it will kill

90% of human kind. Russia and Iran-led islamic world will attack NATO. Let's hope that we will get KOTOR III before the hell begins >_<

HERMOCRATES:

Nur Ab Sal was one such king. He it was, say the wise men of Egypt, who first put men in the colossus, making many freaks

of nature at times when the celestial spheres were well aligned.

SOCRATES:

This I doubt. We are hearing a child's tale.

Gee... I don't know...  Why don't you ask a catholic?

You comparing the pope to stalin?

These seats of power are all the same to me.

As for what is there to compare between these two: Like with the much mourned Soviet Premiere, there will be another Pope along before long, and then all the Catholics around the world can sing songs about how that new guy is better than the last one.

Unlike Stalin, Karol Wojtyla may not have killed people with his bare hands (or if he did, it has been well covered up), but you cannot deny that his position as the head of the Roman temple/bank is entirely without blame concerning poverty and political chaos in the third world Catholic states.
