Chris Avellone Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Thanks - but between Michael Chu, Kevin Saunders, Ferret Baudoin, Tony Evans and John Morgan, we all deserve credit. I suspect Paper Mario will steal the crown, though.
Exitium Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Hahaha. I sincerely hope you win the award. You definitely deserve it. Exitium RPG Codex - the premier avant garde gaming news site. kumquatq3 Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 I suspect Paper Mario will steal the crown, though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was a great twist. I mean, who really thought that the princess would be captured and Mario would have the rescue her? I was blindsided. Good Luck
NeverwinterKnight Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Thanks - but between Michael Chu, Kevin Saunders, Ferret Baudoin, Tony Evans and John Morgan, we all deserve credit. jaguars4ever Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 but would that be considered a slap in the face losing to ANYTHING mario related? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Indeed. That would just take the piss. BTW, congrats on the nomination Chris.
merry andrew Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Sweet. I wish I could go, but that conference costs like $4 billion dollars, so I'll go in a few years.
Sargallath Abraxium Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 ...these bozos should give Avellone a Lifetime Achievement in cRPG Writing Award fer Planescape: Torment as well... ...WHO LUVS YA, BABY!!... A long, long time ago, but I can still remember, How the Trolling used to make me smile. And I knew if I had my chance, I could egg on a few Trolls to "dance", And maybe we'd be happy for a while. But then Krackhead left and so did Klown; Volo and Turnip were banned, Mystake got run out o' town. Bad news on the Front Page, BIOweenia said goodbye in a heated rage. I can't remember if I cried When I heard that TORN was recently fried, But sadness touched me deep inside, The day...Black Isle died. For tarna, Visc, an' the rest o' the ol' Islanders that fell along the way

Volourn Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 "but would that be considered a slap in the face losing to ANYTHING mario related?" Not really consideirng how popular Mario is... <> DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
NeverwinterKnight Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 "but would that be considered a slap in the face losing to ANYTHING mario related?" Not really consideirng how popular Mario is... <> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> but mario games arent really noted for their depth in writing. fun games? yes. deep and thoughtful games? umm...theres a reason why little children love mario games. mind you i havent played paper mario, so that might have all changed.
Volourn Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I wonb't dfend Paper Marios sicne I have not eprsonally played plus out fo the nominees I want obsidian to win. That said, remember most Mario games aren't RPGs; Paper Mario (aside from the retarded name) is. I'm sure the writing is a little more than "Mario saves Princess from Bowser".. LOL DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
mkreku Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I've heard nothing but good things about Paper Mario so I'm afraid MCA is up against some really tough competition. Especially seeing how LucasArts seems to have rushed the game (yes, I have gotten it now..). Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
jaguars4ever Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I'm sure the writing is a little more than "Mario saves Princess from Bowser".. LOL <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope. That's pretty much it.
kirottu Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 Go chris go! This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
Hydrogen Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 Chris: if you and the rest of the team that isn't mentioned don't get the award for Writing, then I hope you and the other chris' (not to mention Darren and Feargus) get the award for new studio at least. to everyone else... is there really much writing in the GTA:San Andreas game? I haven't played that one, but I was never impressed with the writing much on the other GTA games.
mEtaLL1x Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 Really hope Obisidan crew wins it!!! Chris - you are da MASTAH!!!
mkreku Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 to everyone else... is there really much writing in the GTA:San Andreas game? I haven't played that one, but I was never impressed with the writing much on the other GTA games. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh yes, there is! There's a really long and interesting story, with several sub-plots tying into the main story. Also, the dialogue is really clever and well-written and some of the characters in the game are absolutely brilliant (especially the guy played by James Woods). GTA: Vice City also had quite an impressive story.. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
