slowecsl
Ooohh Ooohhh pick me! I have a solution to a problem. It will fix all the bugs... Don't get Obsidian to code the game... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> more of a problem with lucas arts wanting the game out the door because suckers like us would by it any way. not KOTOR3. i'll read reviews first <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I purchased the game after reading 2 diffrent game magazine reviews. They never mentioned any of the problems I am currently having with the game. Both gave it a great review. So reading most review will help little in knowing if you can even play the game when you get it home.

User Name
I get this weird bug when I'm playing. I just finished the palace, flew to Dantooine and I try to leave the Ebon Hawk. Well, what happens is it goes to the main menu and locks up. I've tried going to other planets and I get a loading bug where it only loads 1/3 of the way then locks up. I've read what to do when this happens but I don't have the WNASPI32.DLL driver on my computer. What should I do? N
Daglington
Hi, I bought the game and installed on my laptop without a problem. However when I go to play, I can create a character, watch the space scroll, however after that the screen goes blank. I can hear background music but cant see a thing. If I hit taskmanager, it shows KOTOR2 is taking up 97ish% of my CPU. I'm not sure what is going on. After seeing someone ask a similar question and being told to post the SWKOTOR.ini and the swinfo.txt, I figured I'd do the same to make things quicker. Archangel
I got the wrong volume error, stuck disk 1 back in the drive and then it asked for disk 2. It installed disk 2 stuff and then gave me the volume error again, stuck disk 1 back in and it worked again, it did the same for disk 3 and 4. go figure. But even after I got the damn thing installed, I can create a character and get the opening scrawl but after the wreck of the ship flies past toward Pegarus the screen goes blank. Any ideas? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've had the same problem and I did the same and worked. I think it's the game lol

Master Dahvernas
Building on Lee's sollution to a problem: I got the problem that when I return for a second time to Dantooine my screen goes black after choosing the characters at the exit of the Ebon Hawk. To prevent this from happening, delete the files starting with 6 and the letters DAN in the gameinprogress map just BEFORE you press the OK button to leave the Ebon Hawk. You have to ALT-TAB out of the game back to windows, go to the swkotor2 game map where there is a map called gameinprogress and after deleting the files ALT-TAB back into the game and hit the OK button. It works, but for now I haven't got a clue as to how much it will make a mess of the storyline, because in essence you will have deleted most if not everything that happened on Dantooine before. [edit]Well ... I just met Disciple for the second time (or is it his twin brother) in the enclave, so deleting games in progress is not a real option either[/edit] <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I want to comment on this because I ran into the same bug just messing around with the game... Like QA and Beta Testers SHOULD have when they were getting paid to do their jobs: I got the same bug when I tried to return to Dantooine the second time. Here is what lead to this situation: [background: My strategy was to save the Enclave for when I had a lightsaber to make fighting the Lagriek's easier as well as the whole Nar Shadda event chain with Goto and the Jek Jek Tar since I had a Prestiege Class by then] Started new game, played through Peragus, Telos and then went to Dantooine. I completed the Atmospheric Sensors sidequest along with the Crystal Cave sidequest to get some crystals for my lightsaber. I also triggered the "Redemption" journal entry when I purposefully revealed myself as a Jedi to the mechanic as well as reprogam the protocol droid by the ship. I then left Dantooine and went to Nar Shadda to specifically do the Loota/Aidda sidequest because I knew that Lootra always gives you the final piece of your lightsaber if you're missing it. I complete the quest and got my lens (it can be any part depending on your progress so far). I then traveled back to Dantooine and got the black screen loading bug. So, I did what Weakling said... It worked... But the major drawback to doing it this way is that it resets a lot of the sidequests... Like the Atmospheric Sensors and Crystal Cave... So you can essentially "cheat" and do them over again and the game thinks you're doing them for the first time and you get to keep the loot (crystals, credits)! I didn't get another "Your Name" Crystal, but I did get duplicate crystals in the cave as well as I was able to do the whole Bao-Dur finds the listening devices in the sensors and up the price to 5000 credits -- Even though I had already done that the first time! I have no idea what is going to happen once I go back to Nar Shadda. It will be "interesting" -- In that I hope I don't have to do the same thing with deleting Nar Shadda entries in the gameinprogress folder like with Dantooine. Obviously, the game was never designed to be played this way at all... BUT the point I want to make is that this game was never properly tested thouroughly and things like these are the direct result and it just screams a sloppy and incomplete product any way you try and spin it. AlanC9
I had the same experience on my third playthrough. I had completely fininshed Dantooine, and was returning for the final confrontation. I'll try the fix tonight -- but if it resets Dantooine completely, won't the Enclave still be in ruins? Am I going to have to reset a second planet to finish the game? AlanC9
Not such a big deal, though. It's more XP and credits if you want them, but you don't have to do the subquests if you don't want to. The Enclave was rebuilt, so no problems there (guess the main plot variables are kept elsewhere). Funny thing was, during the flyby of the rebuilt enclave, I could see the group of scavengers coming out of the sublevel again. Also, the woman who greets you when you first land came running up again, but said her post-mercenary battle speech instead. With so many variables in inconsistent states, I'm kind of amazed the game didn't blow up. But it didn't. Thanks for the help.
Cato
Hi, I think some people had problems, when they tried to go back to Nar Shaddaa after they had finished the planet (1/3 load bug when leaving the Ebon Hawk). I had the same problem, the only way I found to avoid it was NOT to go back to Telos immediatley after Nar Shaddaa, but to finish another planet first. After that you should be able to travel all planets without major problems. For further questions or explanations (I know, my English is quite bad :D), send me a mail. greez, Cato

TheVai
Uh, I installed it and it wouldn't play. I could open the menu, configure, do all that, but the game wouldn't run. None of the opening screens, nothing. It tells me SWKoToR2 has commited a fatal error and will be shut down. I uninstalled and reinstalled, I got the opening screens and the character creation menu. I created a character and hit Play, it tells me that SWKoToR2 has commited a fatal error and will be shut down. So I can't play after a reinstall. EDIT: Okay, a couple times it did not go to the error box, but to the never-ending locked "Loading" screen with no progress. A few restarts down the line, and it won't do that anymore. It might have something to do with my video configuration, I moved from 1280x1024 to 800x600, hoping it would reduce the load time. Any suggestions? My specs are: Sempron 2300+ 384 MB RAM GeForce FX 5200 NForce 2 based botherboard (MSI K7N2 Delta) Windows 98 I don't think they are a problem though, I get no problems at the configuration and hardware scan dialog. Guest MacleodCorp
Sempron 2300+ 384 MB RAM <---This may be a future problem, but not the solution to the one you have! I am running 1GHTZ. (XP = 128-255MB Game = Over 300MB) GeForce FX 5200 NForce 2 based botherboard (MSI K7N2 Delta) Windows 98 When you get "SWKoToR2 has commited a fatal error and will be shut down". that usually means you have to return the software, for its a C++ programing problem. See if you can exchange it for a new version!?

While I fight the Sith Assasins on Duxon, the game enters a loop, which never lets me to continue the game, and I am fighting the same Assasins over and over. I belive its called a: "Do While Loop" or "If Then Else Loop", which the game has a problem with. Unfortunatly, the only solution is to open up a previous save game, and then the problem goes away. "Sometimes it comes back at that exact point!" I also had the screen turn black durring the same conversation you were stuck in, but I still here the character voices. Again, load up a save game! Until they release a patch for this problem, you will have to try to trick the game to continue by loading up a save game.

There are a few things this may be: 1. Your CD/DVD drive it toast. (Worse Case!) 2. The programming language on the CD is damaged some how, and you can exchange it for a new one. 3. You do not have enough RAM on board, or you do not have a graphics card with enough RAM to run the game. Either buy one of the following: 1. More system RAM. 2. NEW! Latest graphics card with more RAM. 3. NEW! CD/DVD Drive 4. Exchange your copy of KOTOR for another version. Either way, you are spending money on this one. Try the echange first! Guest MacleodCorp
Hi, I bought the game and installed on my laptop without a problem. However when I go to play, I can create a character, watch the space scroll, however after that the screen goes blank. I can hear background music but cant see a thing. You laptop doesn't have a graphics card to hand the problem, and or enough memory in the system to launch the game. Solution: Take it off the laptop and install it on a desktop PC. You may find a problem where you cannot buy a graphic card for a Lap Top and that is going to be your main problem.. I could be wrong, but you said "I can hear background music but cant see a thing.", which leads me to believe that you don't have a powerful enough graphics card, or your lap top can't handle this do to your system RAM. Guest MacleodCorp
does anyone know why i cant watch ANY of the movies? when i start the game up it goes through the LA and Obsidion clips, then crashes to desktop. does anyone know why this is happening? i had no problems with the KOTOR movies, and i have added no new hardware since. i have a radeon 9800 pro with fully updated catalyst drivers, and all my specs check out with the game. since LA sees fit not to respond on their forum, i was hoping you guys would. none of the other movies work, even when accesed through the movies menu <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Okay, I bought Vampire the Masquerade years ago, and I had the same problem. Your graphics card is not powerful enough, or you don't have a graphics card. However, you may not alos have enough system RAM. Games need graphics cards that hit their minimum requirements, and system RAM. Another thought, your graphics card may be fine, but it may not be compatible with the game. I had this problem with "Grand Theft Auto III" I could see the movies, but I couldn't play the game! Most likely its your graphic card. Solution: 1. Buy a more compadible card. 2. If you card is in the requirements, download the latest drivers for it.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Easy! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Eh? Thanks for the reply, but I got it working. All I needed to do was drop the open GL driver from catalyst 4.11 into the KOTOR2 folder and it started working. Havent had a single problem since, laptop or no (knock on wood!).
