It seems that it would have been easy enough to switch ship if they had wanted, so I'm thinking that there was a good reason to "redo" the Ebon Hawk in this one, please let there be a good reason

A reason is an explanation given for something you intend to do; an excuse is an explanation given for something you didn't intend to do and had to cover up later.

 

In other words, a reason is what is given if you are explaning something you had planned to do all along. An excuse is what is given if you didn't intend something and got backlash for it, but then had to scamble to explain why it happened.

The interior of the Ebon Hawk is comprised of several sections, including a ****pit, crew quarters, medical center, tactical battlestation, cargo hold, and even a makeshift garage to store swoop bikes and modify equipment. Its weaponry consists of a gunnery station with dual turbolasers, as well as other "secret" armaments.

 

 

I wonder if we'll ever get to find out what the "secret" armaments are/were?
