He, he, Shadow lets agree to disagree on that one. For me consoles became a waste of time and money as they go obsolete every 4 years or so. I can always buy an upgrade for my comp when necessary and it's always much less than what I invest in buying consoles every time a new one comes out.

Right now I have a total of 6 consoles or additions (Sega CD, 32X) collecting dust here and 5 of which will never see activation again. And some of these things didn't even have a life span of a full year, like my 32X. After yet again it occured and my Playstation became obsolete because of the PS2 I forgot all about consoles.

Sure consoles get preferential treatment from game publishers and devs but that affects me little, only when a game I'm interested in is put out on consoles only does it bother me. Still I'm more than happy with my switch to PC gamer. :p

with pc gaming its all about resources, if you can afford to keep ur pc up to date, which costs a fortune you will get better quality gaming. for most people that is not possible hence the game console, which has a wider variety of games, easier controls and generally less problems with its gaming quality only marginally behind the rich mans uber pc

Really? I guess we will have to agree to dissagre because upgrading my computer to play the newr games often is three times (never less than twice) what it costs to simply buy a new console. Not that I won't eventually upgrade my PC anyway, but why not keep all the gamins systems around simply so that you can play games that come only to the consoles?

I can see how people favor the PC, what I don't see is why you despise consoles, thier just as usefull (if not more so) for playing games.

I actually have found consoles much more consuming in money than my comp. Sure it was more expensive than a console when I first bought it (About 1K) but every console usually comes out between 300-500 bucks. My comp upgrades have never been beyond 220 bucks altogether and that's including my newest video card. My comp is more than 4 years old and I'm running Doom 3, FarCry and other heavies smoothly, most games I run in high (Except Doom 3).

For me the comp was a much better investment and it turned out much cheaper than had I paid 300 for PS2 or 500 for X-Box when they first came out. And this is because I skipped consoles such as the Jaguar, Dreamcast, and Neo Geo that also were super expensive and had really short life spans. So consoles are pretty much dead for me, even X-Box and PS2 are already slated to be replaced in a year so I'll just update my comp instead of end up with another console I can't even play anymore because they no longer produce games for it. If I take my PS1 for trade in they offered me 20 bucks...20, I payed 300, I mean seriously I won't fall for that again.

XBOX was 300 when It first came out, no console has been 500 yet.

The next XBOX will likely be 600, but that's because it runs XBOX, XBOX2, and PC games. It will come with a controler a Keybored and a Mouse, and will have a XBOX version of windows, I also hear it will be upgradable, so all and all it wouldn't be a bad investment.

Still, if you want the best graphics card (which I ususally do) than it can cost 300-400 do. I have a friend who just bought a computer about a month ago, who can't play the Sims 2 because the card didn't have Pixel Shader.

I'm going to have to buy a whole new machine just to play Everquest 2, but oh well.

I generally find it much less expensive to buy a console, but agree or disagree as you like.

Keep ion mind that's only the most popular rumor at this time, but it's looking to be a more and more likely rumor.

I'm just wondering if the upgrading means it will have like, a graphics card slot and stuff. That would be cool if you ask me.

X-Box was 500 at least here when sold in a bundle package with an additional controller and I don't recall if 2 or 3 games. 1 controller and by iself was 300.

Notice how the majority of X-Box 2's features you posted are basically features of a PC. Like I said I just gre tired of consoles, they become obsolete way to fast with nothing to do but buy a brand new console. Of course this will be different with the upgradable feature of X-Box 2 at least to a point.

PCs are expensive no doubt, but you can always find ways to get things a more reasonable prices; through friends, specials, etc. I have a friend who is a computer tech and buys RAM at factory price, so I get RAM from 20-40 bucks. My new video card is a 500 card I got it for 100 from another friend, he barely used it but someone he knew was selling him an even more powerful card so he sold me his brand new 500 dollar card in 100. In the long run I just see my PC as a better investment than a console and that's beside the other uses I have for it. Because the primary purpose I got the computer for was to be able to study and do assignments on it.

It don't matter though, if you like consoles I'm happy for you. I used to play them all the time, now I don't and I don't feel I'm missing all that much. I have friends that have X-Box, PS2 and Gamecube and a very few exceptions aside I haven't really liked the games I've seen in them. I guess it's all a matter of taste. :p

Well you posted quite a few things in that middle paragraph as to why you can upgrade your computer for much cheeper than the average human being. It costs me upwards to 100-150 for the ram, and I have to pay all 500 for my cards, but I spose in the individual sence, a PC is a better investment for you.

Anyway, this topic seams to have been thrown so far off track (I apologize as it was mostly my fault in a frisky midnight mood)

Lets get back on topic poeple.

This new Xbox sounds amazing!

If it really runs PC games, I might even buy it. :p

i think the release dates are different for two reasons, pc probly needs more fine tuning, but im guessing its more that lucasarts hav a deal with mr gates so he can win the christmas selling rush in the console wars, lets face it xbox is gunna shift more copies than pc.

One advantage I find about Computers is the game price. If you buy a game for PC the first week it comes out it is usually 40 instead of 50 dollars. Then it goes to 50 for a while but then starts to drop in price dramatically. If you stay a generation behind you can save a ton of money on games and hardware. Consoles software takes forever to get cheaper than 50 dollars.

I generally find it much less expensive to buy a console, but agree or disagree as you like.

It is quite obvious that the Xbox1 and Xbox2 ARE graphics-focused PCs.

The advantage is the price because it is produced in mass production and is subsidised by Microsoft.

Isnt that abit obsessive?

There are only a handful of games that I actaully pre order, there was Star Wars KOTOR, In wasn't disapointed, Half-Life, wasn't disapointed, Fable, slightly disapointed, Halo2, don't know yet, Half-Life 2 (or I will once we can), and KOTOR 2.

Other than that I just wait for it to come out and buy it (not like there arn't enough game stores in LA right?)

So no, Half Life 1 is my faverite FPS of all time and ranks number three total on my list of greatest games ever made. (Behind Baldurs Gate 2 and The Legend of Zelda Ocerina Of Time)

If im a little overexcited about it's sequal, who gives a damn right?
