Ouroboros226 Posted Saturday at 08:49 PM Posted Saturday at 08:49 PM I love playing healers and I love playing support builds. I've completed the game thrice as Herald. It's been a long time and I want to try and beat PoTD, but I also don't want to play a Herald for the 4th time. Any recommendations for a DPS build? I really enjoy enchanter/spellblade builds in RPGs. Like in DAO I had this awesome arcane knight thing going with miasma aura and... well I can't recall I'm getting old I also like more tactical single target focus builds. Something like a mage slaying rogue with high burst who can take down dangerous priority targets fast. Not a big fan of straight up fighter or ranger types builds where you just hack'n'slash or fire your gun all day. So something more spell based, pure wizard nuker or wizard hybrid melee/ranged which has more options. Or something surgical like rogue+X. Anything that might suit me that you guys can think of? I reaaally want to break away from Herald. But it scares me because my DPS would really have to make up for the lack of healing. I mean is a single Priest or druid even enough to outheal encounters in PoTD? Can you even approach PoTD with high damage builds? I basically regret not saving Herald for PoTD but I really want something more oomph.
limaxophobiacq Posted Saturday at 09:42 PM Posted Saturday at 09:42 PM (edited) For pure wizard nuker single class bloodmage is just a ridiculously stacked subclass. Honestly not that much build advice just have lots of int and perception and get corrosive siphon + chill fog to carry you early game. The corrosive siphon + blood sacrifice combo places blood mage way ahead of other single class wizards at low levels where normal wizards will run out of spells fast. For spellblade Soulblade/Monk (no subclass or Nalpasca) with Tuotilos palm shield + Sun & Moon flail (or any other good one hander) is quite strong. Dual-wield + sword and shield active at the same time, Sun & Moon double hits synergise with both soul annihilation and swift flurry + heartbeat drumming. Shield is available very early, flail fairly early, can use gladiators sword until then. This cantor build casts and melees so I guess you could call it a spellblade and the skald half should feel a little familiar too you, but still different enough to be interesting (I'm assuming the Heralds were Troubadurs). Personally I'd go non-helwalker and sashas scimitar + tuotilos palm here too but I'm kind of lazy with control so i dislike being too fragile. I'd also get thunderous blows and skip Their Champion (the user who posted the build uses a mod that reduces the cost of Their Champion by 2 phrases for him), I'd also skip Together they Slew Forth a River of Red (the bonus damage for charmed is really not that relevant) and pick up weapon and shield style for tuotilos palm instead. Quote I mean is a single Priest or druid even enough to outheal encounters in PoTD? Can you even approach PoTD with high damage builds? I mean you can still have tanks, brawler Rekke, Pallegina, and Eder with pet blessing aren't as good as PC tanks but they can do their job as long as you bring the damage. Okkes Posted Sunday at 01:37 PM Posted Sunday at 01:37 PM Soul Blade/ Trickster, very fun gameplay and high damage potential with good defense. You should try it.
Kaylon Posted Sunday at 11:16 PM Posted Sunday at 11:16 PM Other ideas: devoted/helwalker crit build - dual wielding Scordeo's Edge and Grave Calling berserker/streetfighter - with Lord Darryn's Voulge steel garrote/trickster - with Voidwheel
Chaospread Posted Monday at 10:38 AM Posted Monday at 10:38 AM Hi, I think the best choose that fits your wishes are a Sage (Monk/Wizard). Here you can find 4 builds for such MC, and many others which can give you some ideas. I think also a Battlemage (wiz/fighter) focused on selfbuff and melee damage can be funny for you, in the previous link there is also such a build. Fighter can provide you also self healing, if you are worried about that. You can replace wiz part of MC with priest, but I prefer a wiz, druid can heal very well but I think it is not suited for single target damage, cipher can be great but he is more focused on charm, debuff and so on rather than nuke etc. As martial monk is the best, fighter can be good too, arcane knight is also good with a bit of healing, rogue as others said is nice (and Trickster would be a less squishy character), ranger as Arcane Archer can behave as a great ranged single enemy killer. Barbs are for more enemies in a one. I exclude Chanter because is repetitive with your previous runs. About healing, you can beat the game in PotD in SOLO with classes that don't have any healing abilities, so if you have one charcater as healer (best I think is a Druid Lifegiver) you can be relaxed about that.
