But like I said will obsidian publish it Heya Bonnell, Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately OBS no longer accepts game submission ideas. As an independent developer, Obsidian was often contracted by publishers with an idea for a game and make it through them. Now that we're part of the Microsoft family, it's a bit different. That said, you can reach out to developers with your idea and see if they're interested. They would be the ones who in turn approach publishers like us to make the game. The developers we've worked with in the past are: - Disney (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II) - http://help.disney.com - Wizards of the Coast (Neverwinter Nights 2) - https://company.wizards.com/contact-us - SEGA (Alpha Protocol) - https://support.sega.co.uk/hc/en-us/requests/new - Bethesda (Fallout: New Vegas) - http://support.bethsoft.com/form.php?l=en - SQUARE ENIX (Dungeon Siege III) - http://support.na.square-enix.com/contacttop.php?id=1373&la=1 - Ubisoft (South Park: The Stick of Truth) - https://support.ubi.com/en-US - Paradox (Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny) - https://www.paradoxplaza.com/support - My.com (Armored Warfare) - https://support.my.com/games/kb/AW - Versus Evil (Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire) - http://versusevil.com/contact/ - Private Division (The Outer Worlds) - https://www.privatedivision.com/contact/ 1 The universe is change; your life is what our thoughts make it - Marcus Aurelius (161)

Hurlshort Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I've got some plastic bags, some floppy disks, and a dot matrix printer. I can publish it for you. 1

Depends on what you mean with it's your "source" - lightly or heavily "inspired" by or actually using recognizable chr names, likenesses, situations etc. eg, possible copyright/permission rights getting/costs issues. I'd guess you could always go the Kickstarter/Steam early-access type route vs. being formally published by someone else, too. “Things are as they are. Lexx Posted March 24 Posted March 24 They are a big company with lots of employees - they surely have enough ideas on their own. Realistically they probably would not even read your ideas. That said, if you are "still thinking of game mechanics and type of game", you're (probably) a couple years too early with your question anyways. Unless you actually have something to show for, like a working prototype, nobody will take it serious. "only when you no-life you can exist forever, because what does not live cannot die."

Reminds me of Tim's video where he mentions companies and publishers tend to not look at other peoples ideas as to not open themselves for a potenial lawsuit.
Lexx Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Yeah, had that in mind as well. It's the same with book authors and generally creative people. "only when you no-life you can exist forever, because what does not live cannot die."
