xzar_monty Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Ok, so the game is working quite well in general, but I'm beginning to suspect there are perhaps some memory leaks somewhere, because a certain class of minor bugs seem to be piling up. 1) In battle, spellcasting is abandoned repeatedly. Like, I get "Aloth abandoned casting Gaze of the Adragan" twenty times in a second, just endlessly. When I move Aloth a little bit and try to cast the spell again, it almost always works. 2) In battle, I get mysterious and impossible messages. Like, "CHARNAME abandoned defensive stance" and stuff like that. The thing with this message is that my main character is a monk who doesn't have any fighter stance abilities, and she doesn't get them from items, either. I had absolutely none of this before approximately level 13 or 14, and I'm now at 18 and they seem to come more and more often. I began the game on 4.0, and I don't think it has been patched since then (could be wrong here). It looks like memory leaks or something. I did a brief search via Google, and at least bug #1 is something that seems to be happening to others as well. What about you people here?
msyoung Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 I haven't noticed that but I haven't been following the battle text much, I will do so now. One thing I have noticed is that Aloth does not attack with spells unless I tell him to continuously, his first choice is melee or ranged depending on how he is equipped.
xzar_monty Posted January 23, 2019 Author Posted January 23, 2019 Wow! Strange. In the beginning, when I had some AI on, he always started with spells. (I haven't used the AI for ages, I very much prefer doing everything myself. But I don't think that has much to do with this bug.)
MaxQuest Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 (edited) Never noticed #2. But have seen something similar to #1 happen. Three of my party members are on active AI, and if I want to issue them a custom command, sometimes I have to move them a little first, or use X->Pause->X, otherwise they might abandon my command and do the next thing on their behaviour list instead. And now thinking of this, I suppose setting some small cooldown like (1-2s) on all actions that had no cooldown before, might help with this. xzar_monty Posted January 23, 2019 Author Posted January 23, 2019 Thanks. The interesting thing regarding #1 is indeed the fact that moving the character even a little bit seems to solve the problem right away.
