  1. And what is wrong with having a girlfriend yet still appreciating aesthetically pleasing objects? Especially ones with a voice to die for.
  2. Kotor2 taught me one thing, and that was that blind girls with half of their face hidden, and clad head-to-toe, can be damn hot. Especially once they go more Dark Side and become even paler. Oh my...that contrasts so prettily with her red robes.
  3. This is a hard question...Kotor2 has the better dialog and is just technically better (love the cloth movements). But Kotor1 is a COMPLETE game. Not a rushed hack-job.
  4. I cannot select either poll options, as though my girl ended up as 100% Dark Side, she never did anything BAD. She just was self-serving and threatening and basically neutral person who was willing to do what needed to be done, no matter if someone got hurt. Of course, in Kotor1 speaking harshly to gang members gave you Dark Side points, so her 'fall' didn't take too long.
  5. Yes, they were on a tight schedule. But they knew it. So that alone does not excuse them of CHOOSING to go with the worst ending they could think up.
  6. It is the fact that KotOR is one of the extremely rare RPGs to come out at all these days. And it has the potential to be awesome. So, to see that potential wasted and presented half-heartedly...is annoying. In this case, it does manage to convey a definite sense of 'we do not care about this piece of crap', which then means they don't care about the players who want to care about the game and characters. Really, I am not 'omg Obsidian stole my cookies!' bitter. It is just the LAZINESS and UNCARINGNESS of the ending that gets me, as this is one of the few games that I managed to sort of like. So in this case it is personal on the 'well, looks like there is no hope of getting any good games out at any point' level. If that makes any sense. It is a betrayal on a large scale!
  7. The influence system is a good idea, just executed poorly. I thought you would influence the partymembers through your actions, but instead how much they like you defines how much they are pulled towards your alignment. There is a great difference here. Handmaiden ended up almost totally Dark Side for me, even though she never exhibited all that great emotion or temper while she travelled with me. If she just liked you, she turned even paler and started showing a bit of vein, but she never DID anything that would have led her to the Dark Side or shown that she was there. Edit: Oh, and the utter LACK of the dialog options changing with the NPCs pretty much tries to destroy any worth of getting closer to them and believability. Visas especially is grievous in this regard, having the same conversation options from the moment you meet her till the universe itself dies. But, I guess they at least ARE nicer options than 'wanna play Pazaak?'...
  8. It all depends on whether Obsidian completes the game or not. If they show they care about the players and the franchise and their own art, they'll redo the ending to BE AN ENDING, instead of an intolerable piece of crap. Added NPC interaction to the rest of the game I think would be too much to ask for. So my opinion on them as a whole hinges completely on whether they fix that one part of the game, the part (everything after the meeting at the Enclave) that they obviously threw together in just one day. If they cannot be bothered to make palatable the one part of the game that most defines what feelings people will walk away from the game with, and what they have played towards for multiple days, what acts as the reward for the player for caring about the story and the characters...then they are hardly worth any respect. They have talented people working for them, yes - some of the dialog and characters are just lovely. But if it is encased in a package of 'screw you, player', it gets kind of annoying.

True, the combat is very much too easy, the PC gains levels much too fast, and the Force Powers are too prominent and powerful (Dark Side attacks are auto-hit, Light Side stuff has you healing everyone around you every round). Anyway, there is some work being done to fix Obsidian's mistakes: link to the tentative release of Hardcore Mod at Holowan Laboratories I don't mind facing multiple weak opponents, a certain bar for example was a very nice event. But when you face small groups of immensely weak enemies all the time...it stops being relaxing and empowering, and just turns into a chore.
  10. People do what people do... What people who like Kotor, but are unsatisfied with the rushed execution, are doing, is modding it to better suit their tastes. It is harder without official support, but doable...slowly. And mind-numbingly, at times.
  11. What compensation? The robes do not have any listed maximum for Dexterity, so any Dex you have is all good and increases your AC - the robes bonuses just stack with it.
  12. You don't want a Guardian, it sounds like. You want the Sentinel. All they lose compared to Guardians is a few hitpoints, one feat and cannot get Weapon Specialization: Lightsaber. Which aren't a big deal, as they get a large amount of skillpoints. Really, there is no point in being a Guardian as things stand. Something to be modded...
  13. People are working on that... Soon as the LucasForums are back up, I'll post about an easy way to modify the difficulty there (at Holowan Laboratories, the main modding place). For now, posting here may suffice (not meaning to highjack the thread, just mention this). Perhaps your location in the overall game progress, perhaps something else. I just found it out, so thought to share. They DO work - one can easily test it out by putting 10.0 into the tohit and damage portions - a kinrath hit me for 40 damage before I did that, and after he had +126 BAB and did 800 damage when it hit. So we can change things around, and even very easily, it seems. Hopefully it turns out this works as well as it seems to by my VERY brief testing.
  14. I have started experiencing this problem. Often if a zone crashes upon loading, it crashes on every latter attempt. So now, if I crash during load, I load the previous save, then try to change things around (equip different things, talk to people a little), then try it again. Sometimes something gets 'unstuck' and I can progress. At other times I am forced to retreat to an earlier save and play forward from there, hoping the same thing doesn't happen. So I don't really have a good solution, other than 'switch stuff around, try it again'. Oh, and as one of the game's loading comments funnily enough recommends; 'save often and in different slots'.
  15. *trying to avoid spoilers* After getting your ship back (and leaving a certain frigid place), there is the cutscene where you view that certain holo recording. The first time I played through this, all went fine. The second time I played through it, Atton vanishes after the cutscene (he is nowhere in the ship to be seen). *now slight spoilers concerning that portion* Both games were played as a Dark Side male. The only difference in those two games was that in the first (where there were no troubles) I had not gained enough points for the Visas cutscene to play. In the second, I did more quests on the star base before going down to the planet, and that cutscene played then already. Anyway, in the second game Atton vanishes after the cutscene where people talk after viewing the holo-record (and a certain girl makes her appearance). He talks in that cutscene as usual, but afterwards is nowhere to be seen. And when I land the ship somewhere, then step out and then back in again and meet Visas, her body is taken to the medical room, but she is ALSO standing in her room. And no other partymembers animate at all. They just stand at their usual positions (except Atton who is nowhere to be seen, and one of the people who I had in my party - she was stuck standing at the door to the med room). Any cutscene where Atton was supposed to show up (like to tease the new girl as she's training in the cargo bay, or player suggesting that she play pazaak with Atton) just abort. No error message, no dropping out of game, they just end abruptly when it would be his turn to do something. I have no idea what did this. I should have the savegame available if someone wants to test it out on their rig...
