  1. I'm not sure what's worse - that computers specs or your sense of wit. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> believe me, a P4 2.0 GHz isn't that bad, and 512 MB RAM isn't bad either, just the graphics card is crap.... You're talking about a computer from the 21st century, well the 2.0 GHz P4 was released in the year 2001 I believe, so stop bitching...
  2. Wow, what museum did that crawl out from? I myself am quite the antiquity connoisseur. ^_^ My recommendation would be to upgrade the whole computer, preferably wih one from the 21 th century. But money is a constraint (as I'm sure it probably is, lol), then pick up a GeForce FX card and you're in business. Incidently, regardless of that k2 diagnostic, the game should still run on your comp....just not very well. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm sorry, but stop telling such crap.... That computer is quite ok, except for the graphics card....
  3. You could start with turing off caps lock.... this way you'll never get respect or a response..... If I was Obsidian I surely wouldn't respond to such a post, what a shame... Keep going like this,, and you will never get any help
  4. Well, it's not just the memory, but also the gpu must support ogl 1.4.. And something else, it's NOT the same engine.... the engine is based on the kotor1 engine, but it's not the same... They made some changes, and sorry mate, but the 7500 series is not supported....
  5. Save often and in different slots.... very important....
  6. Thanks... You were more helpful than then the guy who suggested I search the forums... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But he's right.... This has been asked a thousend times, a little search would be in place before asking the same questions over and over again...
  7. How can you expect people to help you if you're not even able to tell people what kind of system configuration you have.... That's where most problems are solved....
  8. OpenGL 1.4 isn't a program or so that you can download, it's integrated in your videocard drivers, and your card must support it.....
  9. If you're using a radeon 7500, a patch won't help you... the engine just won't run on that card...
  10. I read the readme but the games have the same engine and I think people with supported cards have the same problem. so... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The games don't use the same engines..... The KotOR 2 engine is based on the KotOR 1 engine, that's true, but they changed a couple of things, and the 7500 doesn't support some of those changes.... Sorry mate, but that's the risk of ignoring system requirements....
  11. Halo for PC has Shader Optimization problems that Microsoft and Bungie never corrected once the PC release was out. This is the main reason why it runs so slow even on top-of-the-line rigs, regardless of video card. Also, people are forgetting that just because the KOTOR games graphics aren't on part with HL-2 or Far Cry that they should automatically get 100 FPS. People forget that not only is the engine rendering the graphics, but also running multiple AI strings for the NPCs on each level as well as combat mathematics, etc, etc. For example, the Refugee Camp on Nar Shaddaa. It is a huge area with multiple (vertical) levels along with about 50 NPCs in total all with AI functions associated with them like patrolling certain zones, triggering dialoge choices, combat, etc. KOTOR I and II are CPU intensive games more than anything else. Yes. The game has optimization problems that need to be fixed. I am not disputing that. However, the main point I am trying to make is that just because the graphics look like 2001 graphics that doesn't mean you should automatically expect 100 FPS and realize where the possible slowdowns are occuring on various systems. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, that's correct.... You cannot compare a rpg with a game like HL2... HL2 is a very 'simple' game, while KotOR2 is pretty complex
  12. the other charcters are not L50 however. I used them as well and had the same issue. It is not the level of the chars but the script in the trigger or area file not executing properely. According to the known bugs page cut scenes being RUSHED before completion IE the guy standing who is supposed to be fried BEFORE the fight with the REMAINING 3 dark is DIRECLTY responsible for this issue. see the link below. Known bugs for Kotor 2 MY characters are not at fault and the game supports up to and including Level 50 characters. NO more though. I did at one point think they could be the cause but very early on in my analysis ruled out his issue due to reading others somewhat similar issues in different areas of the game as well as my own testing of lower level characters. I WISH that was the cause its easy to fix. Unfortunately it is not the root cause. THe root cause is with the cut scene rushing by or not allowing the fisdt script to not execute properly and hence the guy remains alive in the room and I remain stuck in the game unable to complete it ever. This again is a known bug which I have the misfortune to run into. Its effect is to prevent me from finishing the game ever. I would like to at least once. This is why I am looking for a temporary work around until the alleged patch comes out to supposedly "fix" this booboo. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Game supports level 50, that's correct, but there are more people that have problems with scripts after cheating.... Apparently cheating messes up scripts or so... Why would you cheat with this game anyway? It's very easy without cheating....
  13. Every system is different, and so is the performance of drivers on different systems.... I tried the 3.9 drivers, and they sucked... I am now running the 4.11 drivers and the game runs perfect. I have all options enabled (including shadows etc) and I have no framerate drop at all. And the game looks much better also....
  14. The problem is that not everyone has those slowdowns (I haven't, and so there are more people), so it's not solely the engine or the game that's responsible...
  15. Depends on how you reinstall windows... If you do a format of your windows partition (system partition) your registry will be completely new....
  16. Q&A is mostly done by the publisher (LA) and not the developer (Obsidian), so you have to blame LA not Obsidian
  17. I use 4.11 drivers, and still haven't encountered any graphical bug or whatsoever.. I have visited the following planets (spoiler): , and no errors or bugs or crazy temperatures at all...
  18. I'm sure this is already covered in another thread, but what is the benefit of this procedure? Force KOTOR2 to use OpenGL rather than D3D to render images via ATI cards? Will this fix the gamma settings reset problem that I'm apparently having? I'll give a try this evening and see if it works out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> KotOR 2 ALLWAYS uses OpenGL, because it's an open gl game..... So it uses OpenGL on ALL cards... What this procedure does is enabling you to use Ati's latest D3D drivers (5.2) for D3D games and the best OpenGL driver version (4.11) for KotOR 2., since OpenGL drivers 5.2 give problems...
  19. I find it hard to believe that that's the fault of the game.... A game, no matter how complex is not responsible for overheating a card.... This sounds more like faulty drivers or something like that.... especially since my 9800 Pro is performing like a dream in thes game (KotOR2)... I didn't have a single slowdown, so that rules the game engine out....
  20. At least they are the best in 1 thing... Being arrogant fools (remember Bush )
  21. the one that says: Windows 98Gold/98se/Me/2000/XP/2003 for Driver only. For Windows 98 SE, DirectX
