  1. An 8 from me as well. For reference purposes: Fallout(1) - 10 Planescape Torment - 9.5 Baldur's Gate 2 - 9 NWN1 OC - 6 NWN1 SoU expansion - 7 NWN1 HotU expansion - 8 VTM: Bloodlines - 8
  2. One of the dwarf spirits in the Gem Mines portion of the Illfarn ruins mentions an interesting little detail: Quite intriguing, if you ask me, and I wish the devs had explored this further and possibly enabled us to parley with the KoS in more detail. Perhaps the player could even talk him out of the whole thing, providing he has the needed knowledge and negotiating skills. I was thinking of something similar to the diplomatic ending of Fallout when you confront the Master with evidence of Super Mutant sterility and talk him out of his plan for conquest. AFAIK, the KoS was getting more energy through the portal which effectively gave him a high regeneration rate in-game.
  3. Thanks! BTW, after searching the Bioware forums I've discovered that Bishop having Two Weapon Style is in fact a bug. Heh, after reading that I have absolutely no qualms about giving him the archery path via console.
  4. I was just checking through the readme of patch 1.03 and I've noticed this:
  5. Open the console and type in: DebugMode 1 showcomments Developer stuff, most of it is quite funny to read actually.
  6. That can be fixed with one of the interface mods. Try xUI for example.
  7. Hmm, that's strange, it usually worked fine for me except for Animal Companions. Apparently, they can only be commanded by their respective masters i.e. Elanee was the only one who could make her damn badger stand still.
  8. If you right click on the protagonist (or his/her portrait) and select "Broadcast Command -> Follow Me" then all of the companions will obey the order. This applies to the other commands as well.
  9. Actually, you can get Elanee before going to the graveyard if you head straight to Highcliff from Fort Locke. I accidentally did this on my very first playthrough and I've been using that little trick ever since. I usually snipe the enemies from across the screen with Eldrich Spear+Draining Blast and by the time it takes them to reach me half of them are already dead or badly injured. The rest usually succumb to a slew of AoOs as they ignorantly run past Elanee and Khelgar who act as my front liners.
  10. IIRC, whips and epic levels were not actually in the original NWN. They were introduced by one of the expansions, HotU if I'm not mistaken, and it's fairly safe to assume that NWN2 will follow suit. FYI, the original NWN didn't have Crafting (as a skill), Enchanting (by the player), Prestige Classes or even more than one dialogue skill. IMHO, that's why it's not really fair to compare NWN2 in its current state to NWN1+expansions. It's still too early. As for Time Stop, it was supposedly removed because of issues with the multi-player game. AFAIK, many players disliked it because it "paused the entire world" or something.
  11. Apparently, the guy who did the sci-fi review is the same guy who did the first (now removed) 1up review. His name is Matt Peckham and as far as I can tell, he mostly seems to dislike NWN2 for actually being a D&D game, which it claims to be, and not an Oblivion clone.
  12. Wait, he wants a Monk/Frenzied Berserker build? Heh, what kind of character concept would that be... a DBZ runaway? :D Anyway, it's kind of hard to pull off since the Monk has to be of a lawful alignment and the FB requires a non-lawful alignment. So, technically, you'd have to advance your Monk levels to a certain point, change your alignment and then take levels in the Frenzied Berserker PrC. You wouldn't be able to progress further as a Monk anymore though. As for Weapon Finesse, IIRC, it should apply to unarmed attacks but I'm not sure about the Stunning Fist + Kukiri thing.
  13. I'd advise against doing that as Atari seems to dislike people publishing modified versions of the NWN2 official campaign. Recently, some modder released a more multiplayer-friendly version of the OC but was soon forced to take it down after he received a "cease and desist" order from Atari executives.
  14. Even if you fail his influence check, Ammon Jerro still won't betray you in the end:
  15. As far as I can tell, there are no actual time limits in NWN2. All those hints about the urgency of plot critical quests are merely cosmetic. BTW, you should visit Skymirror before starting Act 2, otherwise the quest could become bugged.
  16. In my first game, once I got them working for me, both sisters appeared inside the church of Tyr thanked me. It didn't happen on my second playthrough though, possibly because I had built the monk monastery instead.
  17. I don't think that was his decision actually. IIRC, he came along about halfway during the game's development cycle and, more likely than not, the main plot was already well defined by then. IMO, Josh did a great job with the time he had but judging from some of his earlier board comments, I think that a large part of the game was already set in stone when he came aboard. BTW, not to slander Ferret's design decisions but personally, I think NWN2 would have been a better game if Josh had been in charge right from the start.
  18. Yup, whoever designed her character seemed to be playing way too much FF7. Her whole sequence just screams "Aeris". " Anyway, I liked her as well and there was really no valid reason why we couldn't her later on, given the high levels one can achieve in the game. Either or that priest of Tyr in the keep church could have done it with ease.
  19. Heh, you should have let him speak. Apparently, he was sent by to aid you and he sure does a great job at infuriating :D You really missed a few awesome lines: BTW, the way that guy speaks those sentences is simply priceless. Kudos to the voice actor.
  20. Hmm, that's still very poor performance for those system specs. <_< If you're having similar problems with other games/applications you should seriously consider backing up your important data and doing a clean install of Windows + latest video and sound drivers.
  21. Just wondering, but did you actually measure the FPS in some way or are those values your own estimates? They seem way too low for your system specs. FYI, to show the in-game FPS counter simply use the '~' key to call up the console and then type in 'showfps' at the prompt.
  22. Had this one happen to me as well. Kind of weird, I wonder why didn't they just use the KotOR workaround where headgear and weapons are simply not drawn during cutscenes, without being actually physically removed from the characters. Umm, yes... here? :D But, if you mean if I've officially submitted it somewhere than no, though I suppose I could send an email to: nwn2bugs@obsidian.net
  23. It's a different bug. I'm sure of it because both times it occurred while I was controlling my protagonist. I hope they fix this in the upcoming 1.03 patch.
  24. Apparently, plot critical cutscenes can fail to trigger if the acting character is affected by Confusion. Other mind affecting spells might also cause similar problems. This can easily be experienced during the In my case, got confused and his second cutscene failed to trigger so I had to reload an earlier save.
  25. Yeah, but sadly the cheap insta-spawning seems to be used much more often in NWN2. Still, this kind of stopped bothering me once I got my party up to the teen levels, since by then they would routinely mop up everything that happened to cross their path. It's much more annoying at the beginning when your characters are still low on hp and suddenly get jumped by a dozen of sneak-attacking rogues.
