  1. I think, really, the only cure to "spam resting" is make a different game. This game, to me, is already pretty optimal at only requiring occasional resting. Spamming rest is a choice, not a requirement. But then I think the whole "per rest"/"per encounter" argument is ultimately irrelevant. That's just me, which is why I don't think I ever participated in the "discussions". If I enjoy the game, I usually accept whatever mechanic is in place. I am pretty forgiving over most of the minutia. As long as I am killing things when I need to kill them, I'm good. If I need to up my strategy game a bit from time to time, that's cool. If I need to go into an encounter fully ripped, that's cool, too. But to me the point of an RPG is RP. And there already is a balance with figurines—they take up a quick slot, that maybe you should have a healing potion or a flame scroll or something else instead. They take time to summon that you don't get to do anything else, though not that much. Maybe that's where you balance it more. Overall, I think the game is already enjoyable. But when they muck around with my RP, then make it a different game—"Attack Squadron" or "Doom" or something other than an RPG. Or maybe give me the capacity to have an animal companion as a class other than a ranger, something where the animal companion is not so intertwined with the class abilities. Or something. Meh. I've worn this out. What ever you do, HAVE FUN! It's a GAME! Joe
  2. Obsidian also provided other reasons to rest, like this whole injury mechanic. At least in PoE1 I could turn it off. But I get it. Everything affects everything, which is a whole other discussion, as in i like where the PoE1 mechanic ended up and hate that so much had to change for PoE2, no doubt multiclassing played a large role. Charges for figurines just seems so arbitrary (eta: as in it wasn't broken in PoE1, why is it broken now?). Although I don't know if you can sell them and buy them back recharged or if they disappear after charges are expended. If there is a way to recharge them, though, that seems to defeat the purpose. Meh. I'll just keep v1.1.1. until I can't. Joe
  3. They are, so the idea of "spamming" them is totally foreign to me. And if someone is spamming Rests so they can use them in each fight, then there are other issues, not with figurines (although I think any player has the right to spam rests, too, if they want. That doesn't affect how I play.) In PoE 1, it also used to be restricted to one summons at a time per player character, as well, as with other summons. So, if this is a change in PoE2, then can we just go back to PoE 1 rules and call it a day? Joe
  4. Yeah, no. He isn't into that. So I took him out. One of the toughest battles in the game. He has huge HP and DR or something on PotD. He takes forever to take down. I did the fight twice, the second time I didn't bother wasting any special attacks or spells on him. Joe
  5. A shame this is even necessary. My current favorite PC is a devoted/barbarian. The figurine is the closest I could come to an animal companion without being a ranger. Don't get me wrong. I love rangers, one of my three favorite classes actually. I just wanted a melee specialist with an animal companion this time. I didn't even want companion advantages. So the jade tiger figurine has been a great option for me. Thanks, Joe You mean to have all the benefits of a ranger class specced heavily into a pet, so essentially getting a free 3rd multi class and you dont see the issue with that and balancing? There is literally a subspec of ranger about being in melee with your pet, what you mean to say is you want that with none of the drawbacks which is what figurines were. They definitely needed some sort of balancing, though im not 100% sold on this being it instead of weaker summons. I wasn't on about balancing. I am on about role playing a character I created, based on an old TT game I played many years ago with friends, who had an animal companion. He was a class that was not anything like a PoE ranger, but had an animal companion. I enjoy(ed) the (out of the box) RPG capacity of this game. So now to do something I could even do in PoE 1, I have to mod the game. I gave up modding and tweaking stuff on my own years ago back when that was something I enjoyed. That's not what I pay for or play for any more. Joe
  6. I assume if I do this manually I will likely have to do it for every update afterward, too, unless a formal mod is released? Unfortunate. I have to edit files. The other side could just not spam figurines and without changing any files files. Ah, well. I'll stick to 1.1.1 as long as I can, then. There are other nerfs I didn't car for in 1.2. Or maybe when I create my next PC character that doesn't have a role play that involves figurines. Thanks for this, all the same, Joe
  7. Yea that makes sense. so it was 6 not 5. Yeah. It became six after I found the last grim from the fampyr lord. I didn't have that one yet, so it was only listed as from the FL. Since I already had the other two and I had no idea the name of my opponents (I still don't know where I came across the swamp witch) I thought I was supposed to find 5. I can't tell you how much time I wasted sailing around trying to find the swamp witch. I remember fighting the Lich, but I didn't associate the particular grim with him, so I ket looking for another Lich, too. Man, this was confusing. Joe
  8. At first I thought there were more gims that Nemnok was going to request later in the quest. I think the journal is listing a grim quest as one thing before you find it and then a second time as the title of the grim found. So it looks like there are six grims in the quest when all is said and done. But there is really just the three. It is quite confusing. And I really feel like I should get the grims back if I choose to wipe Nemnok out after completing the quests. but that's a separate issue, not really a bug. Joe
  9. I think it is listing each same grim twice with names depending on if you have found it yet or not. Sounds like a bug to me. Joe
  10. Figurine "charges" definitely changes things, however. Joe
  11. Nah this is on you, not the developers. This is not "balancing". This is removing options. Joe
  12. Alchemy only increases potions/drugs duration now. Well, crap. I was enjoying having one character focusing on Alchemy, even if he still couldn't read the witches' notes. Balancing out the flavor of the game, I say. Joe
  13. Which figurines could be used every single fight without rest in between? There are three that I use somewhat regularly—jade tiger, horn of animat, and wooden spiders (I don't know what any of the official names for those are). I've never been able to use them more than once per rest. That's how it was in PoE1, as well. How is that not balanced? Joe
  14. A shame this is even necessary. My current favorite PC is a devoted/barbarian. The figurine is the closest I could come to an animal companion without being a ranger. Don't get me wrong. 15. WTH? Why the hyperbole? What purpose could that possibly serve? Joe eta: and what figurines could I summon more than once per rest? I totally missed those.
  16. This is ridiculous. Why would the developers care if it makes soloing harder? Do they get a bonus the fewer people who complete the game solo? Really, if the soloer wants it harder then they just don't use figurines. This isn't rocket surgery. I rarely use chanters and I hardly ever use any summoning spells, so it has been nice to have the figurines as an available option, one that I can take away or add without wasting a class resource. How many charges are we talking here? I don't use figurines often, but probably enough to expend charges? Or can we, as I've done with other charged items, sell it and buy it back recharged? I am hesitant to update to 1.2 now. Or I guess I jump into the console and get more that way, which really sounds like a worse situation to me than a solo player spamming figurines. I (sometimes) understand nerfing, even when I disagree with a particular nerf. But this is removing player style options, not nerfing. Criminy. I'm never getting invested so soon in a game again. I'll wait until these games are on sale a few years down the road. This roller coaster ride of constant developer tweaking is annoying as hell. Joe
  17. Luminous lobsters and Attuned Self (or whatever that potion is called) saved my butt, but they still weren't 100% effective. And Eder has the highest defenses, and well over 100 will, yet is always, consistently the first to go and the one charmed/dominated the most. Do with that what you will. Joe
  18. My first play through I did get an option to fight Eothas at the end. I tried that. I failed. Joe
  19. Since I read there was a quest associated with Nemnok this time instead of just killing the steroid using imp, I opted for his quest. When I spoke with him he requested three grims. But when I go to the journal to see the quest details, it mentions those three plus two other he did not mention and does not recognize I have (I had one of them already, so I gave it to him. I've since found a second and done likewise.) Are these artifacts of an old quest storyline since discontinued or is the journal implying there will be more quests from Nemnok? Thanks, Joe
  20. I don't know how to address the crowded screen. Is there a layout I am missing? Is there not someway to reduce the size of some of this info so things aren't hiding behind other info without anyway to get to it? My monitor is a 24" UHD monitor. I could hide the HUD, but I'd rather not. Joe
  21. I just took on the Druids in the Sayuka quest. So apparently I wasn't as prepared as I thought I was and needed to reload to take them on again. When I did, the rest of the area map was black, as if unexplored. Intended? And during the fight when Xoti cast the Minor Avatar spell, Xoti went invisible! Kind of cool, but it didn't really work out as an advantage. The enemy could still see her. Joe P.S. I attached an example. She is in the upper left corner between the imp and the ooze.
  22. Finally figured out the drug crash with no drugs. Xoti is wearing the item that gives Svef-like bonuses for a short period after a rest. I don't know if the crash is intentional. I don't recall it happening before, but I could be wrong. Does make me want to ditch the item, though. Joe
  23. It really is hard to be the protagonist in this game because there is no path you can really care about. To me that's the biggest weakness of the game. I can only approach it as my early DnD days just excited about looking for the next dungeon crawl, kill things, gain experience points, make gold, find and buy stuff. Not even in a greedy, mercenary way. Just a "something to do" kind of way. As I grow more powerful I don't even gain sway over anyone or group. I'm even contemplating taking out Arkemyr when I max out my levels. Or maybe after the first expansion pack that raises the level cap. They're all douches. Joe
  24. I am still very disappointed that when my party enters a new area or gets absconded by some pre-meditated encounter, my party formation defaults to a formation I have not chosen. Is there not anyway for my party to maintain my selected formation? Joe
