  1. Question: Is there a way for me to uninstall just the patches, and reinstall those together? Steam still is having trouble downloading the patch, so no game for me... again. Would very much like to know how to fix this.
  2. I have not yet. I guess I need to copy my save files elsewhere when I delete game, and replace them once it is back? Or do I need to restart completely?
  3. Verify cache on Steam. See if that works. I already did at request of a dev on my post. I did, and it still has issues. Goes back and forth on installing and verifying and essentially refuses to download now. Hours of it.
  4. Argh. Then I have no idea what is going on Oh well, at least I know now. Thank you.
  5. I would like to know if similar fixes are available for Steam too. I can't get the game to launch since the download keeps failing.
  6. Might this apply for Steam users too? I can't launch the game due to a "corrupt file" after a very troubled download.
  7. Update: Hours later and the download is still cycling between installing and validating. Going to try exiting Steam and trying again I guess
  8. Steam restarted the download on its own. Did the download, again super slowly. It seems to be stuck on Validating alternating with Installing- it goes through that a few times. I've been waiting half an hour on that or so to see if it gives me the same error message. Will see what happens and let you know.
  9. Alrighty, just did as you requested. Took a few minutes to validate. 100% complete now and "All files successfully validated." Shall I try to redo the download now?
  10. Hello again, I believe that Steam is trying to carry out an update that launched yesterday while I was traveling. However, it is not going well. It takes a very long time for not that large of a file, on very good wireless.... and concludes with a pop-up message ""An error occurred while updating Pillars of Eternity (corrupt content files). Please go to the Steam Support site for more information". So I do... which just takes me to these forums. The game won't launch without the patch, and the patch doesn't get applied due to a corrupt file. I do not know what to do besides pester the forums and wait impatiently. Or go back to playing D3 - you guys are friendly so I can't be too grumpy for now. A few days ago I did finally get the work-around to the Never Far From The Queen quest to function. I hadn't been able to play since 3/27 or so, and got to start playing just a few days ago, now it won't even launch. Did the work-around mess up the patch somehow? I wouldn't think that the patch would interfere with a save file, but I am rather clueless on these things. I did post in another thread about the patch, so hopefully I'm not spamming you guys. I don't know if anyone else is having the same issue as me though. Ideas? Hints?
  11. There is an update required, I assume this patch (since I played two days ago without). The download fails on Steam. Message as follows "An error occurred while updating Pillars of Eternity (corrupt content files)". I'll have to also look at the Steam support site now. Game won't even open to play because it wants an update. Is this because I had to do the workaround for Never Far From the Queen? Steam just leads me back here. Help, pretty please?
  12. It is a new game. I expect there to be some glitches. You guys are friendly as opposed to another game's forums where I was told to piss off by the devs, when I had spent hours seeking answers on my own and tried to be polite in typing up the problems. It is hard to solve problems when you can't lurk over my shoulder at the screen too, but being nice shouldn't be too much trouble! I'd rather a game be with friendly devs trying to help than a bunch of butts who don't fix anything and are mean. The quest is also much more interesting when I can talk my way in rather than zerg. Granted, I kinda want to slay the baddies for their loot still.... but perhaps I'll hold off this time
  13. It worked! The area was reset and I progressed in the general wear-hood-talk-it-out fashion! Hopefully I haven't messed up anything in Dyrford or other areas. I did *all* of the side quests that I could find that weren't related to the main quest before. Thanks again! *hugs*
  14. Fortunately, I did copy the save file (and have a bunch of others suitable). Rename the whole thing to savefile.zip instead of just the ending on it, then? The workaround says to "Delete "First_Fires_Ruins.lvl" and "First_Fires_Ruins.fog". What should I be renaming those to in order to reset them? Thanks for the help - hopefully I can get it cleared up tonight. Eager to get playing again!
  15. And... got Winrar. Found my save files. Opened using Winrar. Deleted problematic files. It won't let me extract the file or save it back into the Saves folder due to "the archive is either in unknown format or damaged" as reason. The file won't appear in saves to choose from. Problem not solved. Still can't progress
  16. Problem: My save files are *not* in the location specified in the guide. That location seems to not exist. I predownloaded and downloaded via Steam using auto settings. Going to my program files, searching "\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity\Saves" should do it, right? *Edit* The extra \Saves is not part of it. About to try playing now! It is being awfully slow to bring up the save menu and go thru loading screens... but if I can play, I'll be happy.
  17. I'll give it a shot. I have a hard time even figuring out which save file is which though, so it may take me a while. My apologies for slow reply - started traveling to visit some family. Love the games, but visiting wineries kinda wins
  18. I did post what I could in my own forum thread, which got no responses. I attempted to follow those steps, but couldn't, so I put them in a dropbox file and linked that instead. I've been hoping to hear back. I did try the IE mod, but couldn't get it to even activate in game. Was as if I had never installed it. As for the Shrouded Woman, I do not remember well. It was a week ago that I discovered the issue, and many hours of gameplay before that when I should have encountered her. I wish I could be of more help. I am not playing a godlike - just a wood elf rogue. In the meantime, I'm back playing Diablo 3. Would rather play PoE, but the thought of restarting a game when I have a fun rogue going just makes me kinda sad Aside from this glitch though, the game is quite outstanding.
  19. I do not recall about the phantom, but yes, I did kinda zerg the place. I got the hood, didn't realize the significance, failed to talk my way in, and used brute force.
  20. Hello Devs! Just as a preface, I apologize for potential lack of information in regards to helping you figure out the problem. I am over 15hrs past where I ran into the bug, not realizing I had run into a bug, and that makes remembering events fuzzy and I am unsure which save file is best. I'll try to dig up the one made in the Temple of Woedica, and the most recent one. Essentially, I can't get past Never Far From The Queen. I went through the Catacombs and the Temple of Woedica, thinking things were all fine and dandy, did another 15+hrs of side questing, then went "huh, I need more story quest to get into the next area. I should try to do that".... and then realized that my quest was supposed to have triggered much farther back. I did get the Leaden Key, which I think opened a door or box within the temple, so it is no longer in my possession. Initially in the quest, I kinda zerged it. I didn't realize I should wear the hood and go in solo. In the conversation with the guys at the entrance to the temple (from the catacombs), I tried to talk my way in, ended up fighting. So I kept fighting, thinking "plan A didn't work, this must be part of it". I got a leaden key so it should have been okay, something will pop up later. But I didn't get that vision that triggers the next part of the quest. No way to continue. I've been searching for an answer for days. I tried finding the mod and console command to force it to the next step, but the mod didn't activate, so that didn't work. And.... I am having trouble uploading anything. So I am making a dropbox for you with recent save games, it is the best I can find, and also the system specs and output log. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/nyxsejh8ujg17zn/AAC8YzRF_LgQ3MQV4DBLFvZ5a?dl=0 Again, I apologize for deficiencies. If you need more from me, I am happy to help if able (I may need instruction on how to do so). I'd love to get back to playing the game - it has been splendid thus far.
  21. I haven't gotten a ghost to speak to either. Don't think I got a Shrouded Woman either.
  22. Is there a way to advance a bugged quest with a console command? This helped me on a bugged quest while playing Skyrim, and seems like a way to help with my current stuck state in PoE.
  23. I am having a similar trouble. "Never Far from the Queen" will not complete. I went through the catacombs and the temple, blasted through the baddies, and haven't gotten the next quest. I've gone many many hours since, because I didn't realize I may have done something wrong (seems like I just did things the hard way, and that I should be ok though). I now can't continue in the game (need to get past the river in Stormwall). Hopefully this gets fixed up soon. I'd like to keep playing! Haven't noticed many bugs though, so if this is fixed fast then eh, won't complain too badly
