  1. For some strange reason instinct told me not to click on those links that day. That was the 'Omigod Kotor3' thread, was it not? And the reaction from Jodo was absolutely priceless.
  2. I read a bio about Messier over the summer. It wasn't a bad read but I can't remember the title. Linden really did get the short end of the stick in that deal, but you're right, look at how it turned out. Linden will probably retire as a Canuck, which should please the hockey gods. As for the Vancouver, I hope they ditch the black and red jerseys and wear the flying V shirts for home games this year.
  3. Please tell me that isn't what I think it is.
  4. Wasn't Mike Keenan your coach at the time for that as well? I can't see him helping any. And the way Edmonton plays some nights, they need someone to shove boots in their asses. And the old Messier doesn't divide a dressing room as much as the younger one did. I remember there were rumblings that the Rangers wanted to be more of Eric Lindros' team in 03/04. It's true that Messier has a tendency to weed out players that are floaters, but the only players in Edmonton that would really have to worry would be Ales Hemsky and big number 27.
  5. Do you think that Kariya would sign for his 1.8 million or whatever it was in 03/04? I think if Kevin Lowe had his thinking cap on he'd be more pressed to go after Brian Rafalski than Scottyboy. He's not huge but is cheaper and puts up decent numbers. I think that if Messier took his last hurrah in Edmonton, nobody would lose. It would be great for the team and even better for the city. But at the same time I think that between Mess and Mike York both have a real penchant for injuries. Then again you can't name an Oiler center that hasn't. Every person I know ragged on Adam Oates for not putting up any numbers last year. But that guy basically handled every major faceoff duty that the team had, and did it great. And he brought out a 20 goal season( albeit 80% of them were ugly but hard fought) from Ethan Moreau...
  6. That was a highly entertaining game. It's too bad Conklin ended up breaking his hand in the fight and couldn't really hold his stick like he should've for the next few games after that . The fisticuffs were mutch better in that game than the [spoiler Mike Comrie/spoiler] versus Ilya Kovalchuk hairpulling match from a few years back. I spoilered that part out of respect for the Edmontonians on the board. And I'll send you flowers if Neidermeyer makes it to the Oilers. There just isn't a chance on that ever becoming a reality. He'd rather play for the (ugh) Flames.
  7. And on an unrelated note, it crosses my mind that there will be more poker on tv than hockey in the states this year.
  8. I see your point. His views at the onset of the labor breakdown weren't that great. But at the same point, don't you think these players who basically broke the bank thanks to him be showing a little more gratitude. From barely 400 grand a year to 1.8 mil in about a decade? That's crafty. I'm not a huge fan of the guy, but he did make the NHLPA a juggernaut. Ted Saskin as new president? He seems like a featherweight compared to someone with a huge set of brass balls like Goodenow. I think that buy replacing the head the players think maybe they have someone they can keep a closer reign on... and please god don't let edmonton sign Chris Gratton!!!
  9. Wow so what from what I've read now the players basically asked Goodenow to resign. To me I think that is very lame. This is playing out like tonights episode of Big Brother...
  10. It's going to be fun watching the old 'big money' teams scramble to fit players into their budget. Some of the teams are at 20 million with like 6 players signed. That makes me laugh.
  11. I never thought in my life I'd see any sort of relation from hockey to Cuba. Now that Bettman has, for all intents and purposes, won this fight, I can't see him stepping down anytime soon. Since a majority of the owners were on the side of Gary from the getgo, it will probably take quite an event to unseat him from his roost...
  12. I am currently enjoying ' the KKK took my baby away' by the Ramones.
  13. Alas, poor Bob Goodenow has decided to step down as head of the NHLPA. It must be tough having to eat so much crow. At least he should be able to live comfortably on his own buyout...
  14. My satellite teevee is down and I had some time while supper was cooking, so I managed to finsh this finally...
  15. Anyhoo, TSN has a great list of teams with players under contracts right now. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature.asp?fid=7006
  16. The old crest did more for me. This new one reminds me of my junior high school logo. Plus, this one will probably appeal to more colorblind people...
  17. Ah, teh anticipation grows. The Nhl (hate the new logo) released the new schedule today. http://www.nhl.com/schedules/index.html And it looks like JoJo Thornton doesn't like his offer from the Bruins. You know, I can really see a lot of these top players pricing themselves out of work. It's going to be fun watching teams with 20 500g players and one superstar.
  18. It may be just me, but what kind of a man would be caught dead going in for a glamour shoot?
  19. Obi Wan> everybody else
  20. Mkreku, you are a god!! When it comes to dancing, it depends on my mood and the people around me. I cannot keep a beat during a country two step, but if I ask the lady I'm dancing with to lead, I do fine following. If she says no, its an embarassment to us both. Aside from that , my favorite move has to be the robot!!! To any kind of music, slow songs, metal, whatever...
  21. Better that than paying money for a guy who hasn't played for 2 + years. Actually I was hoping that Gonchar does go to the Leafs. Then they could dump Bryan McCabe and actually have a gifted power play defenceman. I exclude Brian Leetch because he's not under contract, right? Sundin, Gonchar, and Brad Richards have been the only people I've picked year in and year out in my HOckey Pools.
  22. I played the game a few times. I enjoyed it for the most part. Could have been better, but I've played worse...
  23. I read the story about Leclair and Lindros. I haven't heard anything about Glen Murray since the last season, but out of your list I think Murray would be the best addition. He gets real cold sometimes, but when the guy is hot and has decent linemates , he can be a real treat to watch. And I can't see Toronto coughing up for the elder version of the Legion of Doom. Two of the most injury prone players in the league. Hold on a second, Toronto should sign L & L. It would be a great move on their part... Sadly my Oilers are in the position of trying to sign Mr. Whiplash himself, Jason Allison. And as much as Kevin Lowe would like Scott Neidermeyer, the player has expressed interest in many cities but Edmonton wasn't on the list.
  24. Was Hang On the two player motorcycle game? I think the arcade in my town has that pushed into a corner still...
  25. Good call. If you're ever up north the Grande Prairie way give me a PM and we'll do lunch.
