  1. I spent a fair bit of time listening to Bonnie Brae / Teenage Wristband by the Twilight Singers today.
  2. Actually some answers were given last night. Like where the dharma shark and the polar bear came from.

A guy at work and I were discussing whether or not the Leafs would start out 0-4-1 over their first five games. Paul Maurice is a great coach, but you can't expect things to happen overnight. And this article makes me both sad and happy at the same time. I've grown accustomed to watching hockey on CBC. But at the same point, it's just about the only reason to watch that station. As for tonights' BOA, I'm rooting for an Oiler win of course, but I do know the history of our team when we raise a banner/jersey. It's not too good. Go OIlers!!

Ha! Dallas did the same thing last season in their opener, except they went down 4-0 against LA and rallied to win 5-4. Those pesky Stars. Daryl Sydor seems to be content back in Texas. Believe it or not, I like the addition of Matthew Barnaby for the Stars. He might not win every fight he gets into , back you can't fault the guy for lack of trying.
  5. I wonder if the others get satelite TV on the island. The book club makes me think otherwise. Benry Gale is still creepy though. His quick decisions in the opening were pretty impressive, I thought, unless he's gone through it all many times before.
  6. X3: the united stand of the last mutants or whatever Fastball special. Good. Action scenes. Good. For all the talk of Juggernaut looking like plastic I thought that the opening bit CGI with a younger Charles and Eric was much worse. I'll give this movie six heating pads out of ten advils.
  7. Well hey, another doctor is always handy. I didn't think the opening was all that yowza except for maybe the . That Juliet has one hell of a punch, as well.
  8. I'll admit he looks like he's about reading to crack right now, but the younger Mr.Sheppard has some testicular fortitude, Darque. Once he gets some food in his system he'll start to put up a fight again.

That first period between Carolina and Buffalo was a little off, but things were nice and chippy by the second. Dany Heatley and Mats Sundin have come through for me tonight. It's still pretty early so I don't have both sets of players memorized just yet. I know I picked Eric Cole in one of them. And this should be a good test of how Colorado will fare on the powerplay this season. edit: Joltin' Joe picked up his first on the 5 on 3 and Wolszki(sp)? added one on the following one man advantage.
  10. I caught the first ten minutes of The Nine. It seemed okay, but any show with Scott Wolff and Tim Daly seems a bit too much for me to handle. It is nice to see Dr.Phlox from Enterprise getting some work, though. As for LOST, I think what was really lacking was the other characters. There were many times I wondered if I'd like this show as much if it was just Jack, Sawyer and Kate. I totally learned the answer to that tonight. How many episodes will it take for the Others to break Jack? My guess is three...
  11. My thoughts exactly. I believe the phrase I'm looking for is "a whole lot of nothing"? The only part I liked was watching Jack suffer, for some strange reason. The rest seemed totally bland to me. Although Sawyer getting his was pretty entertaining. Next week might be better.
  12. Or 'Let's just blow this up and see what happens' Locke. Less than two hours!!
  13. TBH I'm more concerned with Eko than Locke. Hopefully Desmond didn't end up littering the beach with his assorted body parts... edit: T minus 6 hours and counting!! (w00t) (w00t)

And you should pick up todays edition of the Edmonton Sun, Alan. It has a whopping 56 page NHL / Oilers preview. Of course I absolutely detest the Suns' new layout, but I'll forgive it for the hockey coverage alone.
  15. I'm not reading those spoilers. HOnest. Less than twelve hours to go. I wonder if we'll find out the fate of Locke and Eko in this episode.
  16. Are you spamming the left button to win faceoffs instead of using the skill stick, Laozi?

I don't put too much faith in any sportscasters, but the clips were much better than the verbal diaherra that occured yesterday on the Sportsnet show. Doesn't anyone else think it would be more entertaining to listen to an ex-player who isn't a punch drunk fool nowadays? Mercilessly Tie Domi wasn't half as bad as Kypreos was last night, but I'll admit it was a trifle funny hearing the others laugh at him when he kept talking after he said something along the lines of 'That's all I gotta say about that'. Keep on rocking in the free world, Tie!!
  18. You can color me hellajealous, DD. Hell, I'd even swap my high speed internet for Mr.Laozis' cruddy dialup if I could take his place at the upcoming show... Stereophonics - Mr.Writer I used to treat you right give you my time but when I turn my back on you then you do what you do edit: it's still not cool to wear earplugs to a show, right?

Usually I'm not too quick on the draw, but I did get that one in quickly. It looks like LouLou has been the busiest GM in the league during the last week. What with asskissing to the league to get Mogilny put on the long term IR and all that hubbub about his big 'trade' with SJ to get himself under the cap. We're so close to the start of the regular season I can smell it. Smell it I tell you!

  21. The Flight Of The Conchords - back in New Zealand, where we, um, invented rap LOL
  22. I swear that ABC hates NHL fans. As long as Henry Gale doesn't break into a tap dance number in the first episode this will once again be my must watch show this television season.

I take it TSN's is on tonight? What with the NFL taking over Monday nights over there.

Here is the list, Alan. Only two more sleeps to go!! Aside from a brutal Sportsnet hockey preview ( the Oilers coverage was mostly talking about Pronger, with nary a mention of new additions Lupul and Sykora) which was barely entertaining except for the barbs Ray Ferarro ( who gained a notch of respect tonight, finally IMO) would shoot at Nick Kypreos. John Garret doesn't seem to be on the same page as reality, and Bill Watters, well , is former Toronto GM Bill Watters. And while I like TSN's coverage, barring Pierre 'he's a monster warrior/hitter/performer' MacGuire, the addition of Tie Domi could make things go downhill. Fast. So I guess it's Cabbie On The Street ( I'm with my man D!) and the crew from the Score getting my nod as highlight favorites. Their ticker is topnotch, and the only thing really sucking is they took away the game night features where they used air viewer choices for which games would get the most live coverage. That way you could watch ten minutes of a period and highlights from the most popular game, which wasn't always Toronto or Ottawa. edit: my linky doesn' work, so here's my twenty picks: Thornton, Crosby, Richards, Marleau, Gomez, Rolston, Sundin, Hemsky, Forsberg ( crosses fingers and sacrifices a small animal) , D. Sedin, Iginla, Gaborik, Knuble, Demitra , Marty St.Louis ( every year it takes me at least ten minutes to figure out how to accept St.Louis, for you enter last names and then widdle down the player from another list except for Martin you just enter St. and that's the only way he's entered. as St.L, St-Louis and StLou comes back unrecognizable), Erik Cole ( who would be a huge steal if nearly everyone didn't pick him), Hejduk and finally my main man Sergei Gonchar.
