Stuck at "Preparing to launch Pillars of Eternity"
Edit: Fixed by switching to the normal branch. After a ~2.6 GB update last night (March 9th), I can no longer start the game. It gets stuck at "Pillars of Eternity is loading..." Eventually Windows will recognize Steam as not responding and Steam will crash. I've noticed that there are 3 PillarsOfEternity.exe processes while this is happening. After everything crashes, I can only manually kill one of these processes. In order to get rid of the other two, I have to restart my computer. I have verified the game cache with steam. I have attached output_log.txt, but according to windows, the last time this file was updated was March 7th, and I'm encountering this issue on March 10th. I am opted into beta patches. I am now in the process of switching to the normal branch to see if that fixes the problem. output_log.txt DxDiag.txt

[1.05b] Won't launch; stuck at "Preparing to launch"
OP Here. Just FYI it was on Windows for me. No idea if this is related, but I just noticed that about 5-10 minutes before it mysteriously started working, Steam shows a download for PoE that it indicates as "0 bytes / 0 bytes"

[1.05b] Won't launch; stuck at "Preparing to launch"
Attempting to launch 1.05b from Steam results in a popup showing "Preparing to launch Pillars of Eternity". After a few seconds this popup goes away. A few seconds later it comes back. This continues forever and the game never launches. I tried restarting steam, restarting computer, verifying cache with no luck.

Outer range spells bug
kad032000 replied to nemesis205bw's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)This is indeed a bug, it's been reported several times. You can temporarily "fix" it by right clicking on the spell in your ability bar. This needs to be done every time you load, for every spell. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/73011-aoe-bonuses-from-intellect-stopped-working-on-cipher-spells/ http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/72972-is-the-area-of-effect-bonus-from-int-bugged/ http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/72370-aoe-highlighting-bug/

On Steam the minimum is listed as 4850

Cipher Mind Wave AOE Visual Indicator wrong Point of Origin
I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I'm misinterpreting something, but the Cipher's Mind Wave ability is difficult to use with the Visual Indicator. Based on the ability's description text, and as far as I can tell from using it in-game, the point of origin for the AOE is the selected target. However the game displays the point of origin as the casting character. This makes the visual indication useless at best and confusing at worst.

Same issue, same workaround. Wish I had seen this thread previously; you found the workaround a day earlier than I did.

AoE Highlighting Bug(?)
kad032000 replied to CrazedWeevil's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)Right-clicking on the ability in the ability bar will restore the INT bonus AOE Visual Indicator. This needs to be done per ability. Loading a game reintroduces the issue. (Regardless of if you saved before or after applying the "fix".)
