  1. didn't you watch the Dalek?
  2. Bring back Bonnie Langford, that's what I say! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Elisabeth Sladen and Louise Jameson
  3. ... And a terrible actress. Apart from that, she's ok. (Launchie, You're forgetting the thirty years of classic Dr Who.) When I first saw this film, I was not sure whether Hauser was the real Quaid, or whether Cohaagan had brain-manipulated this false personality to prepare Quaid. Later I realised I was being far too paranoid.
  4. right. the *ghost* device can be overused just as the dreaded force bond can be overused. the best way to use the ghost device, IMO, is for him to simply point out where you can get the training you need...and, indeed, in a cryptic way. "you have learned all you can from Master Soandso....go to Tatooine and seek out the Twi'lek master there" >OK, what is the name? .....(ghost fades from sight) that's how you do it. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes.
  5. I think I'll read Homer's version (or whomever he lifted the plot from in the first place) ...
  6. "Get ready for a surrrrrr-Prise!"
  7. Do you get Doctor Who?
  8. Well, the padawan is always with the Master, so if the padawan survives, then instant Masterhood. The only issue would be if the padawan were not with their Master at the time of death (off on a side quest, say) -- then, that would be a good hook for the plot. Maybe have to prove yourself ...
  9. I guess that doesn't matter if he can write. It doesn't sound like you are too impressed with his skills. I've never read any of his work, then again there ain't enough hours in the day to read all the good stuff ...
  10. starting off with a mentor and then about halfway through he dies and his Force Ghost guides you through the endgame (and directs you to other mentors). that is some classic Star Wars fare. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, but not a lot of ghost stuff, just the odd riddle.
  11. You mind plays tricks on you ... you play tricks back .. it's like you're unravelling a giant cableknit sweater, that someone keeps on knitting and knitting and knitting and knitting ...
  12. The sword was pretty cool.
  13. Looks more central-Eastern European, like Romanian or some such. (Maybe ancient Romanian: Dacian!)
  14. Piracy? Do we get eye patches and parrots?
  15. Jolee was okay, though.
  16. Is his name Odysseus?
  17. Only thing I recall was feeling quite bad about killing those diseased villiagers, but they had to go. It really depends what they do. Like in Star Wars if Anakin hadnt gone on a child murder spree I would have seen him much more as a tragic hero who was trapped by the love for his wife. But that was more evil than anything Darth did in EPIV-VI. I'd have still put him out of his missery at the end though. I'm just not that big on suffering regardless. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmm, I had no qualms about the villagers: they were already dead. The allied ships we destroyed, on the other had, made me pause for thought. No longer did I want to play by the rules as laid down by the god of Warcraft III. I wanted to rebel.
  18. At the same time.
  19. As funny as that was (brilliant ice skating moment), this sort of conversation will only turn off the female contributors to the forum ... makng all those geek stereotypes even truer that they ought to be ...
  20. I can't speak for the other books, but as AH goes, Man in the High Castle isn't at the height of plausibility (I know, I haven't read it, but I know a bit about it). One Alternative History book that you might like (assuming you havent read it), especially since you've said you read actual history books, is "For Want of a Nail". It tells the story of the Confederation of North America and the United States of Mexico, the two North American States that arise out of the failed American Rebellion. The best part of it is that it is written as a university level textbook on the events as if they were the actual history. It reads like a history book from another Universe. It's my favourite book evar. And if you've already read it, consider it advice to everyone else. Buy this book! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sounds good, I'll look it up. (Germany nearly managed to distract the US in WW1 by inciting the Mexicans to attack Texas ...)
  21. It was very entertaining, thank you, but I shouldn't be so lazy. I'll read the script and imagine the 'Aaargh's and 'Zooom's for myself. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's just pulled the bug out of his nose.
  22. Nope. Neither is it suposititious, just because it's supositious.
  23. Psst. He lies. He wont ever use that name. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, Hong Kong Phooey is much better
  24. He doesn't look like a Kiwi.
  25. That's a relief, I thought I was going to have to write out the highlights for Steve.
