Here is a part of the chant of the Nameless One: He is a Petitioner A mortal who has died and reformed on the plane of his alignment and/or deity without memory of his former life. A petitioner's ultimate goal is to become one with the plane he's occupying, although no one (not even the petitioner) knows the whole dark of this.

Bush changes justification for invasion of Iraq...

The issue is not about one evil deed justifying another. This is about the way you seem to blatantly ignore the atrocities committed by our enemies and repeatedly make the west and Christians look like the clear-cut bad guys in this situation. Thought you might like to see things from the other perspective. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am a Westerner and a Christian. I don't see Arabs and Muslims as "our enemies". I am no more inclined to characterize all Westerners and Christians and Jews as "bad guys" than I am to characterize all Arabs and Muslims as "bad guys". You appear to be stuck in an "us versus them" way of thinking. The "us versus them" framing has its merits in some situations, but it has serious limits too. By its nature the "us versus them" framing tends to encourage continuing violence. I think looking in a mirror is a useful curative treatment. You should try it yourself. :D -
I understand that Prime Minister Tony Blair has strong opinions on veils too. Ah for white priviledge and the Colonial point of view! I hear the Brits just recently allowed as it is OK to be a Catholic in England. Oh for the good old days when Arab women wearing veils were seen by westerners as demurely exotic! Meet me at midnight at the Oasis my darling! :D

Under the circumstances it makes sense to post this follow up info from BBC.

So we have found that reality is imperfect have we! Does this mean that God is dead and/or evil is good? There is no question in my mind that the Muslim woman is the target of bigotry. Quite wide ranging bigotry at that. Even MPs feel the need to get involved! Even here, too. Too bad.
-
It's up for legal interpretation - depending on the country and state. In any case we know that is just quibbling - the intent in the case of the Muslim woman is pretty clearly based on religious bias. As Hades said. In the case of the Muslim woman so far as I can tell the dress code was applied after the fact because some people wanted a more palatable reason than bigotry for removing or bulling the person. It allows people to imagine they are principled rather than bigoted.

Part of me doesn't believe this is for real. Part of me worries that it might be. In either case, my advice is to get some counseling immediately.

Hades has it right. Paying people gives an employer the right to their employees work - only to their work. If the employer sets unnecessary descriminatory conditions or provisions against people who they don't like because of their religion or culture or something else the employer is just being too cleverly deceitful as well as bigoted. We shouldn't quibble about such things.

Bush changes justification for invasion of Iraq...

Oh, the irony! Well, the people who do these things in the ME so far aren't doing themselves any favors by doing this. Responding violently to a Pope's comments and taking it out on worshippers is not a good way to change anyone's opinion or get them to respect your religion. Hmm...maybe this should go in the 'crisis' thread. Colrom, remember this the next time you want to demonize the west for bullying the poor defenseless Muslims in the ME. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am well aware that people in the world do horrible evil things. I am sorry that you appear to imagine this particular case is a weapon to use against me. With regard to the specific perpetrators of the crime they should be hunted down and dealt with according to the law. With regard to the larger matter of relations among Chritstians and Jews and Muslims and such - one evil deed does not justify another. My views in that regard are not changed. -

I'll give you this. Since evil cannot be perfected it is only right that some good come of it. -

As much as you may think so Volourn those things and more did not justify our killings which were not immediately necessary for our self defense. If you think that we should play calculus with lives then perhaps you believe that it makes sense to submit healthy people for sacrifice so that many others can gain new life from use of their organs. Where would you like to stop this calculus of killing for good? Not to mention that we have not been appointed by God to judge and dispense "justice" as we see fit and at the expense of those we choose to sacrifice. -
The school issue is just bias. Many Muslim women feel strongly about covering themselves including their face. People dress differently. It is worthwhile for children to undertstand this. There is no reason to make an issue of it. I'm inclined to think similarly in regard to the airline and wearing the cross - unless there is some safety issue I don't understand (I doubt it - well - maybe it could flop into peoples faces when the stewardess leans over or something - a shorter chain may be in order) or some reason to believe that the stewardess is just trolling for a fight. Interestingly if you put these dress styles together - head and face covering plus external cross - you get someone who looks sort of like the old style Roman Catholic Nuns who taught me when I was young. I liked them alot.

I'm glad to see that folks have become sensitive to rudeness here on the forum. It is a pleasant turn for the better. -

Not usually. All my childhood military friends are on the wall. I never went. (But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.) I did research on a few things for the military. One of my sons got in and out without excitement. -

Hey Jessie, you're famous! Unless it isn't you. You are quoted in StrikerTorch 16 Ed. 23 Apr 06 on page 3 commenting about shooting performance during a best squad competion in Kuwait! No picture of you though. Just the quote. Check it out if you haven't seen it already! -

It might seem so, but it was sincere. I agree it would have been more proper not to tell Jessie what not to do. So for that I appologize. Better to say that it is very uncomfortable talking policy to someone who says they are actively committed to that policy with their life on the line. Hard to tell them that you think they are actually engaged in furthering a program which is making the world a worse place. Hopefully Jessie is doing some local good. In any case, welcome Jessie. Stay safe. -

Impeachment sounds good. Except - what would the new monster look like? Cheney! Yikes! -
That was one of my problems during my boycott. I like Danish cheese. The stuff I ate instead was a pale substitute. I suspended my boycott a little while ago and am eating much better now.

I guess they had to answer Philip K. ****'s question "Do robots dream of electric sheep?" Interesting that the cylons are regenerating more but enjoying it less and showing considerable individuality as well.

So Taks, what do you believe and why? By the way, how was your linear algebra test, Taks? What kind of linear algebra is it?
