  1. I think there are a lot of views on the Sith and the force in this game that I don't think really compute with all the other information we have from the movies, books etc - I just chop it up to Kreia lying through her teeth. I'm pretty damn sure George Lucas has always meant for Palpatine to be a TRUE Sith Lord, and not all this other too far out weirdness. I don't know, maybe the KOTOR series aren't supposed to even try to be canon.
  2. Darth Pavel: I just found the reason why it's still mono, that's because mus_a_801 isn't in the patch.
  3. Not just you, I feel much the same way. Anywho, can anyone tell me exactly what music files ARE mono 22khz? Because all of those I've listened to so far are VBR 44.1Khz Joint Stereo. I haven't listened to many of the transition pieces yet though.
  4. I also get this bug, but it only happens if I forfeit a race. I just usually quicksave before racing, and if I lose, I quickload. This is actually the only bug I've ecountered in the game as far as I can recall.
  5. I have that sometimes too, thought for me it is fixed simply by pressing quick save. speaking of sound loss, does anyone experience that sometimes there aren't any sound in the cutscenes?
  6. As far as I can remember, the Imperial Star Destroyer is 1.6km long, the Executor 12.8km, the 1st Death Star 120 km in diameter and the 2nd 160km, so that's pretty good eyeballing(term?) Drachir:)
  7. I think the overall music in KOTOR 2 was superior to KOTOR 1, in that Jeremy Soule's music failed to capture the Star Wars mood completely. Griskey succeeded in that better - though it still didn't come close to Williams' music imo. Am I the only one who finds it odd that considering the games are very much centered around the nature of the force, that the force theme is remarkably absent - completely, even, in Griskey's score? Also, is it only on my comp, or does it not matter ingame whether the musicfiles' extensions are .wav or .mp3?
  8. Right now I'm listening to "la cabane sur des patte de poule" (the hut - not hutt - on foul legs) - from Mussorgsky's 'Pictures at an Exhibition' In my playlist I also currently have Holst's "The Planets", Grieg's "Peer Gynt", Dvorak's 9th, Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" and Mussorgsky's "A Night on the Bare Mountain"
  9. This is the only thing about the game I can't let go - I'd actually rather have a higher quality music pack than all the bugs fixed. I have an easier time living with the bugs than this ultra low quality music - it annoys me to no end, haunts me even.
  10. I can unerstand that a lot of the game actually got cut out due to the time constraints - however, to encode music takes practically NO time, if they have the original digital recordings (which I think they do, because the music in the startup menu is good enough quality) it would have taken no more than 30 minutes, tops, to just make higher quality encodings to replace the lower one. Also, am I the only one who thinks it would be nice if someone at Obsidian actually gave some comment or insight into all of these problems? I mean, it IS their forum, I'd think they would be reading it.
  11. I agree with what is said in the article too, I'm playing through the game for the second time now, but knowing what's ahead in the ending is not very motivating - I'm not sure I'm going to go through it. I don't blame Obsidian though, We've seen in the past what these people can do when given a prober time schedule. The frustrating thing about LEC is that they don't seem to listen to the fans, it's ALL about profit. Maybe I'm mistaken, but did it not start to go really REALLY down hill for LEC about the time Jack Sorensen stopped as president? wasn't that also about the same time they stopped developing adventure games altogether?
  12. ROFL :D - the pdf file? I'm sorry but sometimes some things are just so ridiculous you have to laugh. Here we all are, anxiously waiting for a patch, and they release a patch that does.... this? very amusing to me.
  13. I also think it seemed a bit rushed. I kind of got the same feeling like I got playing "TR: Angel of darkness" A lot of nice build up and features - but then, suddently, it all goes out the window. Also, I don't get how Malachor V could blow up in the end - G0T0 stopped Bao'dur's(?) droid from activating the shadowbombthing?
  14. I was just about to suggest that. It makes no sense whatsoever to record it with The Northwest Sinfonia, mixing it at Skywalker Sound - and then put it in the game in this quality.
  15. yeah - I got a little overboard, I'm just disappointed. If nobody beats me to it (or Obsidian corrects it) I'll get the XBOX soundtrack soon and make a better version for everyone to download. I know someone who has it, I'm just not sure when I'll be able to get it.
  16. I... Won't... believe... this... I simply REFUSE until I've heard it myself - to me the music is about half of the experience! If they've really butchered it down to 8 bit mono, I'm afraid I'll lose interest in this game EXTEMELY fast, it'll ruin the whole game for me, no matter how well the rest is made! Obsidian better find some way to correct this!... EDIT: just got the game and heard it... Holy crap!! I refuse to play the game until this has been changed - I'm just about ready to go and get my money back for the game, This is probably THE MOST STUPID THING ANYONE HAS EVER DONE TO A GAME!!!!! I just lost any and all respect for Obsidian - this will probably be first and only game I'll ever buy from them... I guess it's obvious how much I value music in a game...
  17. Erh...? Must be released at different times in different parts of Germany (or different stores) I have a friend in Germany, and he said he wouldn't get his copy from EBgames before the 17th... And Finally LEC has announced it has shipped... bout damn time...
  18. Agreed, there are fewer and fewer games I find interesting - This is one of the few that are on my MUST HAVE list.
  19. I agree completely with you, Samm, about Jeremy Soule, we've heard enough of his music now, and since he obviously can't renew himself even just a little bit, it's time for a new composer to step in. Maybe the Bay Area Sound Department will do the soundeffects? They did it for KOTOR... Not that I'm saying Delaware is KOTOR 2 or anything...
  20. Regarding the Michael Hoenig BG soundtrack: Here is a clip. Now, in the right audio channel you'll hear a cue from Henry Mancini's 'Lifeforce' score and in the left channel is a track from Baldur's gate, by putting them on top of eachother you can hear just how similar they are. http://www.angelfire.com/music5/aztaroth/lifebal.mp3 (right click save as...)
  21. I use to have more respect for Michael Hoenig before I found out he stole from composers such as Henry Mancini for his BG1 soundtrack.
  22. Yes! Thank you Roshan, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. His tunes a quite stale, even the action cues. Being a Trombone player I'd be pretty bored playing one of his scores, his minimalistic writing for the brass section is one of the reasons his KOTOR score failed so miserably. Writing great brasslines is something John Williams knows how to do. Also, Jeremy Soule's character themes are laughable compared to John Williams' or even Joel McNeely's from SOTE. The only thing I like from Jeremy Soule is 'Total Annihilation'. Jesper Kyd is a great dane (NO not a dog), I was actually kind of surprised by the Hitman 2 soundtrack, considering I use to remember him making tunes on the old C64. Noriyuki Iwadare is also quite good, though my favourite from him must be Grandia. I'm not sure how the japanese console rpg composers would do in a PC rpg - though I'm sure it would be quite interesting.
  23. Classical, always has and probably always will - There's nothing that beats the sound of a Symphony Orchestra imo, whether you just listen to it or play in it. I do like some celtic too though.
  24. If this project turns out NOT to have anything to do with KOTOR I'm going to laugh my a** off. That is not to say that I don't want KOTOR 2, trust me, I'd like nothing more, it's just that, on so many forums there are so many people who are absolutely sure that Project X is KOTOR 2.
