  1. Ah, that explains it. Thanks for the info, peep's. At least it's not just me.
  2. It's often not what you say but how you say it. Fans are people and they want to be respected and valued. Treat them like petulant children or imbeciles who know nothing and they're going to turn on you. Then don't act like a petulant child.
  3. My products tab only has the game listed; nothing else. However, under the "what does this include?" thing in my order summary it lists the game, the cook book, the documentary, and the in-game achievement/item as well as the forum badge. So...where's my documentary? I was *really* looking forward to that!
  4. And now I'm preloading. Screw this entire thread. :-D
  5. It was released to the media a week ago - you get to wait because .... well you mean less to Obsidian than the media does and Youtubers with 28 subs. "NOW! I WANT IT NOW! NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!" Also, Paradox gave that guy a key, not Obsidian. You can at least bother to read the updates before spouting off bad information. Which means there were keys viable to play the game - white knight them all you like - they put backers last in their list of priorities. They're in the wrong here - no matter how pretty they can draw or how nice a story they can write - they're still treating backers like crap. No, they're not. They're treating backers wonderfully, you're just a self-entitled whiny brat who can't stand not being treated like a super-special snowflake. I'm not white-knighting anybody; I'm correcting your *wrong* information and telling people the actual facts. I'm telling them the facts too. The media got copies before backers - because backers mean less than media. If we meant anything to them we would have gotten the same version they got plain and simple. If you meant anything to them, you'd get extra free stuff just because? Right. That makes sense. We've been down this road before - a copy of the game I paid for is not free stuff - access to that game at the same time as media is not free stuff. But you know never let logic get in the way of your thinking process. Yes, we have. You don't seem to get it. You didn't buy the game, you backed it--and early access that wasn't promised is free stuff. Logic doesn't seem to be your strong suit. Passion, on the other hand, you have in spades.

  7. I won't speak for anyone else but I don't think you personally need to apologize for anything. I think that Obsidian should have been more transparent in what was going on though. Backers should have gotten keys before anyone else. That didn't happen and when it didn't happen Obsidian should have been in front of that situation explaining why. We still don't really know why. At the end of the day, I don't think anyone is going to be upset, backer wise, as long as they have the game pre-loaded and ready to play when it unlocks. They did explain. BAdler stated in a post the exact reason why Steam is pre-loading; ie, because they had to tell Steam to turn on pre-loading so our keys could actually work once given to us, and once Steam turned on pre-loading everybody who had pre-ordered automatically started pre-loading. If they hadn't told Steam to turn on pre-loading, then our keys would not work until tomorrow morning. You not know is not the same as them not communicating. I read that post and it did not communicate *why* the backers did not have keys yet, but the Steam purchasers did. It just explained the decision to enable pre-loading (which I am fine with). My money was spent years ago, at the very least I expected to get a key at the same time as someone who ordered on Steam a minute ago. That didn't happen and for all of the BAdler posts, that still has not been explained. *shakes head* Deliberate blindness is not something that explanations can fix. Even though it has actually been explained.

  11. I'm betting it's 9:00 AM Pacific 'cuz that's when a dude get's in to work to send the "release the kraken!" email.
  12. That is totally legit. I bet it's *crazy* there leading up to launch; the forums have been going a bit psychotic without some direction, but you need to focus on the game and the launch (and take some time to relax when the crunchtime is over!).
  13. I should probably still keep my auto-refresh turned off, shouldn't I?
  14. What we know at this point is only that Obsidian has in-house key-generating software; we know this because they gave 1,000 keys to Paradox who then passed them out. That's it; that's all we know, like, for reals.
  15. It releases at 9 AM Pacific time on March 26th. At least, that's what BAdler said they were planning. ppl living east of us are screwed... as usual. Since when have we cared?
  16. No, they delayed it to March 26th. Yes, as of January it was delayed to March 26th. 9:00 AM Pacific, to be exact.
  17. Although I don't agree, I can understand that. That being said, I think they did their best and did an awesome job with the whole development process and dialogue with the fans/backers. Well i do not think they did their best with many things. I think they were just not considering things. If planned and prepared it would be possible to ship games to everyone on release day (+/- a day or so). It would be possible for backers to claim their keys weeks before release. But they are a small team and probably very busy. If it were not for Paradox who could have helped them with that which actually is their job as publisher. So no they did not do their best, but i can excuse that as what matters in the end is that they did the best with their game. Still we can hope they learn and do better next time. You can do all the planning in the world. When implementation comes, you'll find out that both the planning and the implementation are not perfect. Moreover, we do not have access to all underlying factors affecting the process of backers receiving their keys. Is it a problem with Steam ? A lack of planning on Obsidian's part ? Something else ? Who knows ? All we can do is speculate or simply be patient for a few hours/days. I was just going to post this. Unless there's an Early Access situation, which I am absolutely glad that Obsidian did not do, getting keys weeks ahead of time is unrealistic. Keys don't happen weeks ahead of time. I don't claim to know how Steam or GoG or whatever works in that regard but based on past history I highly doubt that's an option. As soon as you can preorder a game keys do exist. Are you able to view keys when you preorder something on Steam? I don't think you can until release. I'll have to remember to check next time. There are lots of things you cannot actually view until release. Like if a preorder includes DLC, you cannot actually view that until the game unlocks. Which is annoying. I'm honestly not sure if you get a key before the game starts to preload or unlocks. Do you? They do have a system in place by that time to associate your account with the game. Pretty sure that steam can generate keys once they list a game on their client. Steam does that for a living after all. I've never been sure how the keys work behind the scenes at all, to be honest. I'm not even sure if Steam generates the keys or if they are given keys which they then assign to each purchase.
  18. You do know the word entitled is not actually a dirty word - I mean sure people are spending a huge amount of time actually trying to make it one but its a very normal applicable word. People are upset - whether or not you think it is justifiable or not. Obsidian will have to deal with that and as I said word of mouth counts, as does their treatment of backers. The unspoken statement after "entitled" would be "for literally no reason of any sort but simply because". I assumed you'd know that based on common usage and context.
  19. I've been working under the theory that Obsidians been highly engaged with us this whole time, has listened to much of what we had to say, has provided us with detailed information and have as a whole been exceptional at the whole deal, with the caveat of entirely expected delays and difficulties due to various things outside of their normal business (like physical goods, etc.) Guess I was dead wrong!
  20. I'm so bored I'm actually going to go and cook the meal I've been putting off because I'm lazy.
  21. A dev told me "Never doubt Tim Cain; as the taste tester for every recipe in the cookbook, they are delicious!" So I'm assuming so.
